Good Vibes grass wall and my mom for her 82nd Birthday Celebration Brunch!
    Tami B.

A few things to consider in my review: Food, Service & Ambiance... Well ladies and gents (or however you choose to identify) This place gets a 10/10 for all three categories! We had a group of 14 two weeks ago for my mothers 82 Birthday and we truly enjoyed every thing. SADIE (one of the managers) is such a beautiful soul! She took care of us and made everyone feel like we've known her for years, she made us feel like we were her family. Our wait staff was amazing and special shout out to Gabby for having THE BEST personality, smile and positive energy!! Everyone was so accommodating and professional. The owner even came down to greet us and to wish my mom a happy birthday which was really sweet. Now I would not be honest if I didn't mention we had a minor snafu with a few dishes that took a while to come out BUT we didn't care when the food finally came because the dishes were cooked to perfection. The kitchen was overwhelmed because it was Sunday Brunch and downstairs was JAMMING so it's no wonder it took some time. We occupied a semi -private room on the 2nd floor. I say semi since there are two large openings on either side of the door which you can actually step through but it was very accommodating. It allows you to still hear the music downstairs but it can be hard to hear if you're trying to give speeches or say prayers over your food. Again this was during Sunday Brunch, so I'm sure you understand what i mean because music was BUMPING!! That DJ was doing his THANG! They have a beautiful "grass" wall that you can take pictures in front of and the space upstairs is excellent if you want to you have your own group of people meet up to have dinner and drinks there. Some Brunch suggestions: Shrimp & Grits Bake and Saltfish Chicken & Waffles I look forward to going back and trying EVERYTHING on that menu because whoever they have cooking in their kitchen is BLESSED & HIGHLY FAVORED!

Bottle of Prosecco to keep the brunch vibes going well into the evening!

(Last visited 4/10/2021.) In New York City hanging out with some friends during the weekend and we wandered into Brooklyn. One of our friends suggested this place because it's black owned and had some good reviews so here I am to add another one! Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is so modern and chic. I love it. Brick exterior, with the name right above the entrance. There are also quite a few tables outside for you to dine at while enjoying the warm summer months. Inside is just as chic. The exposed brick works so well for this place. The décor is simple and there are 2 levels for you to dine on in case one is very busy. The bottom level is mainly for the bar area. Service: I can't remember the name of the guy who took care of us, but he was awesome. He had such an addictive personality and was so much fun. He took care of us and made sure we had everything that we needed. Food: I'm here for the wings! I really need to start eating other things, but how can you deny wings?! Lol. So I had the chance to try 2 different flavors, their Buffalo and their Lemon Pepper. Both were very good, but that Buffalo was superior to the lemon pepper. Value: So for $12.00 you get 6 wings and a side. That side can be fries or a salad. I think that's actually pretty solid for New York City prices AND during the "Great Wing Shortage of 2021". Very decent pricing here. In conclusion, this place was awesome and I'm so happy that I got introduced to it! Check this place out if you're in the area. Great place to watch football! You can sit outdoors or inside and watch the game. The bartender is friendly and courteous! The salmon dinner was very good! The regular French fries are great with a beer or two. The bathroom is clean. The crowd is into the game. Glad they are in the neighborhood!

Went here on a Tuesday for happy hour. They have indoor and outdoor dining. Was easy to get a table upstairs. The waitress was friendly and patient. Happy Hour ends at 6pm. We ordered a coconut mojito ($9), frozen drinks ($5), lemon pepper wings and tamarind BBQ wings ($5 for 6). Seems to be a neighborhood favorite. Typical sports bar with ESPN playing. I really enjoyed the lemon pepper wings and the frozen Sorrel ginger. The lemon pepper wings is a dry rub and full of flavor.. I want to try the oxtail sliders next . Reasonably priced. Gratuity was included in our bill.

Stopped by this spot because my daughter was in the area getting her hair braided & it was getting a tad busy in the spot & had to give up my seat. No problem. The music was pumping at IV Purpose & it looked like they were having a private event there. Popped in for a shot & to change my gear the first time around. Anywho, took my shot. The DJ was chilling on the right side spinning sweet reggae vibes & on the same side is the bar & high chair seating. There is upstairs seating where the private event was being held but I did not go. For a brunch, I had the shrimp & grits & it totally hit the spot! My daughter finished up her hair appointment & met there to grab bake & salt fish and that was delicious too. Caribbean vibes I can sink my teeth into. The service was great! The young man behind the bar was cool & efficient. I will go again & would suggest you give a go. The food is banging!

IV Purpose (Four/For Purpose) is a chic, sports restaurant on the super busy Fulton Street strip in the heart of Bed-Stuy. They opened in July 2020 in the midst of the pandemic. The prices here are very reasonable considering they are located in expensive Bed-Stuy. My appetizer (six wings with two handfuls of fries) was only $10 and felt like an actual meal. It also wasn't some bar food that was just thrown together. The food was well prepared and very tasty. I'm truly looking forward to returning and trying other menu items. I really enjoyed my lemon pepper wings. I had a craving for some and I took a chance when ordering. No two spots do lemon pepper wings the same. Some make them with the right amount of seasoning while other spots overdo it and the wings end up being salty. These were juicy, crispy and seasoned with just the right amount of lemon pepper. The fries were crisp and seasoned to perfection, ready to dip into some mayo (my fave). There's a $5 happy hour on all frozen drinks until 6 pm. After 6 pm they are $8. The frozen drink options are piña colada, rum punch, margarita and sorrel ginger. I only had the frozen rum punch and it was quite good. I'm looking forward to trying the others during my next visit. The only downside is their happy hour ends at 6 pm and if you want to take advantage of it you will want to arrive early (and not close to 6 pm). I went on a Wednesday and the outdoor dining area was all booked up and there was a small line outside to get inside to order from the bar and/or be seated upstairs in their dining area. The customer service is excellent as I was checked on several times by a few employees during my dining experience. I never had to track anyone down and any questions I had were answered with patience and no attitude. The staff is also serious about social distancing and I've witnessed them sanitizing tables after patrons closed out and left. The upstairs dining area is very clean, spacious, two restrooms and several flat screen TVs. I highly recommend this black-owned establishment. You won't be disappointed!

Great local spot, with comforting customer service FOOD: #1 is the cripsy chicken sandwich and jalapeno cheese fries. I couldn't get a good pic because I ate the damn thing so fast. -Rasta Pasta is good -Oxtail Sliders, pretty good, I would ask for sauce. (like chipotle?) -Salad was fresh also -Awesome Maragaritas VENUE: -I prefer to sit outside (October), and with the pandemic they made sure we were cozy. SERVICE: -Awesome, the staff were super attentive in making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Also, so friendly. It made the experince exceptional/memberable. VERDICT: Honestly this spot has landed a place on my list of "go-to's", it's definitely worth a visit and the drinks are yummy!

It's a vibe. Great sports bar. Terrific owners. Respectful environment. The food is delicious and the frozen drinks are a staple. They offer outdoor as well as indoor seating. The bar tenders are friendly fast and knowledgeable. The place is great for crowds and sports lovers. Lots of interactions with patrons. I recommend this place if just for a quick drink or for a hangout to view the game. Did I mention the food is also great. The portobello mushroom burger with fries was amazing. Delicious and fresh, it was mouth watering excellent choice for everyone, especially vegans and vegetarians. If you're vegan just hold the Mayo.

Purpose is a neighbor gem. Everytinenibpassed by on Fulton st, the outdoor dining area is always full of people. The only time it is empty is when it's very cold and windy and still might have a couple of stragglers having their signature frozen drinks. We had the private room upstairs still social distancing between people and tables. You would never realize how good their food is. Had the wings, rice, rasta pasta, grilled vegetables, salmon, stewed chicken, and mashed potatoes. I am not sure I got it all, but this is what I remembered. Nancy runs a tight shift and she is there to make sure the customers are happy. She has quite a few servers for the amount of people that come to have drinks especially. The bartenders rotate around to handle any influx of customers. I do have to specifically specify a few people that helped facilitate our great time here. I have to shout out to Daniel 1st because he was all over the place taking care of everyone' s needs. When we 1st arrived, Nicole was all over us wanting to know if we were ok, and even ordered us water to start. We ordered drinks and she quickly took care of our order. Later after our dinner, a few of us went to the bar for a final drink, both Samantha and Nicole were there and they both took such good care of us making sure we were ok. When you go to a place where you feel at home and comfortable, this is a place you need to return to often. Like I said, this place is a gem in this neighborhood, but you have to try the variety of food they serve and Michael in the kitchen is constantly trying to improve on the menu to attract and keep customers and he is doing a great job!!

Visited with friends to celebrate a bday on a Wednesday night. Unfortunately due to COVID indoor dining restrictions we could not enjoy inside however there were seats out front. Inside is neat and has huge TV's to enjoy sports. I ordered the frozen piña colada with a shot of Casamigos & it was amazing! It's authentic, made me feel like I was on a tropical island. I also ordered the oxtail sliders, honey chipotle wings, coconut shrimp with fries & salad. Everything was tasty! Definitely will be visiting again ASAP!

Gaby was our server and she was absolutely amazing. My friends and I needed a chill bar to accommodate a party of 10 and she quickly sat us and served us. The food was good but the service is definitely what will make us return. Thank you Gaby for making my friend's birthday one to remember especially on a Sunday night.

I took myself on a date here one random weekend and it was pretty good. There were not a lot of people there at the time that I went so I was happy about that. I tried the frozen rum punch and sorrel, an oxtail burger, wings and fries. No I did not eat it all at once lol but I did enjoy what I had. I do think the drinks could be a little bit stronger but that's just me. I was happy with my decision to go there. You should definitely give it a try especially now that football is back!

As someone who has come to this bar regularly to watch Knicks playoff games, I can confidently say…read moreI will never return after what happened during the NBA Finals last night. What this bar pulled was completely unacceptable. They were openly reserving seats at the bar for certain people while telling everyone else they were unavailable. There was no advertised reservation policy, no advance notice, and no opportunity offered to regular customers. Apparently, the only way to get a seat is to know the owner, know the bartenders, or be part of the inner circle. What made it even worse was that my group had been sitting at the bar, ordering food and drinks starting around 7:30 PM, only to be forced out of our seats at 7:45 PM. The reservation signs on those seats clearly stated they were reserved for 8:15 PM. We were paying customers actively spending money, yet we were removed 30 minutes before the supposed reservation time. That is absolutely egregious behavior. I've worked in sports bars and have owned sports bars in New York City. In all my years in the business, I have never heard of reserving seats directly at the bar--especially during a major sporting event. It goes against everything that makes a sports bar successful. Bar seats have always been first-come, first-served. That's Sports Bar 101. I've spent plenty of money here over the years because it was always a great place to watch big games: good atmosphere, sound on the TVs, and a fun crowd. Unfortunately, last night proved that customer loyalty means absolutely nothing. Regular patrons were treated like second-class citizens while preferred customers received special treatment. For a bar that markets itself as a neighborhood sports destination, this was incredibly disappointing, unprofessional, and frankly insulting. If you're planning to watch a major game here, don't assume you'll be treated fairly. Unless you're friends with the right people, don't expect the same experience as everyone else. There are plenty of other sports bars in Brooklyn that understand how to treat customers. After last night, I'll be spending my money there instead. I won't be back, and I certainly won't be recommending this place to anyone. Let's Go Knicks

One of the things I enjoy most about living in this neighborhood is that when people frequent these specific establishments, often times they're coming in for fellowship and connection. Last night, my friend and I walked in to the ale house and went straight to the back to use the restroom. When we walked in we didn't see anyone at the door and it was rather late at night, but we walked in quietly and fully expected to purchase something from the bar in order to use the restroom. In fact, I was standing by the bar with my friend when she went to use the restroom. When she tried to go in, a middle-age woman with glasses and blonde hair, proceeded to put her physical body between my friend and the bathroom. The employee escalated the situation incredibly quickly and did not start by explaining that we had to purchase something in order to use the bathroom. It was only when I noticed the commotion and went to the bathroom and asked the worker to bring down her voice, to understand that we were not here to start any trouble, and that in order for us to move forward, we need her to calm down and de-escalate. It was then that she said that there is a sign that says only customers can use the restroom. To which I said that is fine. I can buy a beer and I will buy a beer for my friend to use the restroom, but it doesn't make any sense for you to treat people this way. We are grown adults, we did not see the sign initially, but to be treated in that way without any explanation at first was disheartening, hurtful, and disrespectful. The bartender apologized profusely for the employee's actions and explained that she had had a rough morning. To which I said, she should've been sent home when you noticed that she was not having a good day. We all have bad days, we all are human, but this is yet another example of people minding their business, not trying to start any issues and other individuals assuming the worse and bringing unnecessary anger, fear, and anxiety to a situation. I also went to share that I had noticed that before the woman proceeded to block the bathroom, she had approached two black men sitting at the bar and then pointed towards us. As I exited the bar, I asked them. What did she say to you because I find it very interesting that she approached you and then proceeded to act in the way that she acted. To which one of the gentlemen said, "Because of other incidents, she told she told us to be alert and to keep an eye on you." My question is, is this something that is said to every patron that enters the Fulton ale house. Lastly, I didn't start with this, but I'll note that one of the last things I said to the bartender was this was particularly hurtful because this event was carried out by a white woman, who asked two black men to essentially "police" two black women on Juneteenth! To the management of Fulton Ale House, I don't want a response because I don't want to hear excuses...I just need you all to do better. Peace!
