This is the second time we have been here. first time was very good so we decided to come back. This time we are getting burgers and they look amazing. I have to write back with how good they were after I eat it. The outside patio is very nice as is the weather. This is a very divey place but it is called a "five star dive." While it is definitely not inexpensive to eat here, there are more expensive restaurants locally. I'd say it's average as far as price. I'm updating my rating from a couple of year ago. The actual building is the same (small dive bar feel), food is still amazing, but service really sucks a lot of the time. If their food wasn't so damn good, I'd rate it a 2. But I still keep going back because I love a lot of the menu items. Get a Itty Bitty Burger! Best one in town! Make sure to look at the draft beer list on the wall when you walk in, because otherwise you won't be able to read it unless you're sitting by it and the waitresses have a hard time remembering it too. read more

Friendly wait staff! Good food, even though a lot of things were out due to Mother's Day. We hope to be back again to try some of their more popular items. Our favorite spot after a day fishing on Lake Michigan - fantastic food and a great atmosphere. We enjoy the option of sitting outside in the open air environment or inside when some AC is required. Food (5 stars) - Amazing. Ahi Tuna, Little Wings Lo Mein, and Itty Bitty Burger are a couple of our favorites. The daily specials are also a great option as well! Drinks (4 stars) - Good selections of local micros, domestic beers, and liquor. The Bloody Mary is pretty solid. Service (1 star) - The service has been getting worse over the last few years. The last two visits have been horrible (ie long wait time for drinks and food, inattentive service, rude service, etc). Forty five (45) minutes for a six top of burgers and fries is ridiculous. Overall - A great place for a bite and a couple drinks....just hope the service starts to improve. read more

My wife and I were in the area and stopped to have mussels at our old hang out. They had a limited menu that did not include the mussels. That is not my complaint. We were okay playing keno and drinking a few beers. Bar tender was too busy bullsh##ing and not taking care of the 6 customers at the inside bar. I asked him his name and he started off with I am not going to give you my name. We only wanted his name so we were not disrespectful when calling for him. I said he must not like tips. Chef Doug Velo is a master of culinary moves like Bruce Lee mastered moves over Chuck Norris. Doug is mastering the hits without hurting the "victim/victor." I say victor because you can't lose on this menu. This menu rocks, except for only a couple of items. Some barmaids nice... some not so much. On the dessert side the "Interracial Cowboy" is as bad in gustatory taste as it is in lack of class in with its horrific name. This is my favorite local spot! Don't let the location or decor fool you... This is a five star restaurant! They always have two specials and they aren't last week's overflow of unsold food, these are chef creations and their freedom to show their talents. One is usually some sort of meat and the other is fish. Neither disappoints! One of my all time favorites is bone marrow and they serve a mean marrow bone appetizer. You have to wait a bit as it is made to order but so worth it! Their house red wine is delicious and my favorite! Their pizza is note worthy, especially the spicy sausage. Great crusts! Great food and a fun place to go for families, couples or a group. Service is SLOW and sometimes the waitresses are overly silly but it's all in good fun. No fancy cocktails (hence "dive bar" but they can make a lot of mixed and cold beer tap selection is always good. If you're willing to chill and enjoy your drink - THE FOOD IS WORTH IT. We just had an awful experience here. We sat down at 5:45 after observing the please seat yourself sign and waited 15 minutes for the waitress to come wipe our table. She finally came over at 6 after telling us she would be right back to wipe the table and with menus and said we have to pick a different table because they just had a group call with seven people instead of our five. No sorry or let me help you find another place. She suggested we look outside, I am seven months pregnant and the temperature outside is 84*. Pretty typical pub/ bar food. Got the French dip which was good. My fries seemed like the end of the batch with a lot of small ends. Hubby's burger was greasy but tasty. Biggest disappointment was the place seemed grungy. Dead bugs hanging in spider webs above us, food stuck on the tables, outdoor tables rusting through. Holy smokes, this place has stepped up their game. I moved away from Holland about 11 years ago... Back then this place was kind of a dump and had very mediocre food. I've been back in town for the past couple of weeks and I visited again with my family and I was blown away by how much better it is now. They've put a lot of effort in to redecorating and making it look nicer, but more importantly, the food was outstanding. I ordered the perch off of the seasonal menu... For a place that advertises itself as a "5 Star Dive Bar" I'd say that they do a pretty good job of living up to the name. From the outside, the bar looks like a typical bar you'd see in a strip mall, and the inside is pretty normal as well, dimly lit, tons of tvs everywhere, kinda loud, but I like that in a lively bar. We were seated pretty quickly despite how busy the restaurant was and our waiter quickly took our drink orders. The beer list here was quite extensive with a good mix of domestics, stouts, ipas, and ciders, and our waiter was happy to give recommendations and talk shop about the local beer scene. For food, we started with the onion rings which were light and flaky compared to other onion rings I've had, but were well seasoned, I would definitely recommend them. I personally ordered the fish and chips, for a place close to a large body of water, they had more than adequate fish and chips! The fish was tender and flaky and had the perfect amount of breading, you really can't go wrong with fish and chips on Lake Michigan. I also had a chance to try some pizza which was tasty. The crust despite being quite crisp and thin held up nicely with the large amount of toppings that the BBQ Chicken pie had on it. For a tavern cut pizza, it wasn't as good as some Chicago places, but it gets the job done if you're craving pizza. Overall if you're looking for a dive bar with elevated food options I would definitely recommend the Itty Bitty Bar, the beer was cold, and the food was top-notch, don't know if I would classify it as a dive though. read more

This bar is quite interesting. Outside, the bar had a few motorcycles and men around them when I arrived which can be intimidating to some but I was already there, hungry, so I proceeded into the what I could already see was lively bar. I visited here for the first time on a bustling Saturday night filled with a variety of people some busting a move on the dance floor, some mingling at the bar, you know, typical bar stuff. I was waiting for a friend so I went in and luckily got a table as it was very busy inside. What shocked me was when I opened the menu and the prices were SO high. I was shook. This place looks like a dive bar and runs like one. Don't get me wrong, the food and drinks were good, but to be charging prices like downtown Holland, the ambiance should match otherwise, it just doesn't make sense. I got pretzels with beer cheese and a fried onion plate, both which were pretty good. My drink was strong yet still tasted good so I was happy with that as well. Loved this place!! Our server was extremely helpful and friendly. He came around several times to joke with us and make sure we liked our food. We had the summer time nacho. I wasn't the biggest fan of these because I'm not too crazy about wontons and the chips are basically fried wontons, but my friends loved them. They were definitely an interesting flavor. I also ordered the buttermilk soaked fried chicken sandwich and I have one word to describe it, AMAZING! The ranch is made in house and tastes so good! Generally seemed kind of gross. Weird splatter on the wall next to me, no hand sanitizer (during pandemic) and definitely not distanced or following capacity. Pretty sure the pizza is made on a tortilla and not on "homemade" dough, the bbq meatloaf was not hot.
