We also sampled a variety of drinks. I liked the "Wish I Was on an Island" best. Our group of 5 ordered several entrées: Walleye sandwich, Great Lakes Walleye, Farmhouse pizza, and turkey club. Our sides included asparagus (our favorite!) and fries, which were seasoned just right. All the food was excellent. We shared and sampled and enjoyed everything. My favorite was the walleye, and I would definitely order it again. The atmosphere is wonderful, with beautiful views of the lake. Although we dined inside on this visit outside dining is enjoyable as well. The music selection was perfect! We all commented on it and the volume was just right. Loud enough to be enjoyed but still conversation-friendly. Boatwerks is quickly becoming our favorite restaurant. Whether we are sitting at the bar for appetizers and drinks, or enjoying dinner we have never had a food or drink that we haven't loved. Food presentation is attractive. And service is always excellent, especially at the bar.

Once we were seated, we ordered our drinks and our starter, some garlic cheese bites. It came with marinara and ranch dressing on the side. Really good and garlicky flavor. Excellent way to start our dinner! However, that was the best part of our dinner. I ordered the Mexican street corn Mahi and upgraded one of my sides to the grilled zucchini (+$2) and had the creamy chicken soup. The soup was good, no complaints really. It was as advertised but my fish didn't have much seasoning and the spicy mango aoili was just a sweet sauce that didn't really taste like mango. I got about 5 thinly sliced grilled zucchini that also didn't taste seasoned. My husband had the perch. He said it was okay. Neither of us was super impressed. Our server was nice and attentive but we didn't get any water brought to the table, just the adult beverage we ordered. Overall, the place seemed promising, had a nice decor and was clean and spacious.

However, the reviews were good so we ventured in... and I'm glad we did as the inside is extremely inviting and the food was great! First of all - there's a kid's waiting area with snacks!! What an amazing idea! We sat quickly and ordered. I had the salmon entree - which was not the prettiest looking plate but wow, was it good! Cooked well and the vegetables that were steamed on the side were perfectly cooked also. Burgers looked good and everyone ate swiftly so I assume everyone's meals were delicious. Service was friendly and swift (but didn't rush us) and this spot even had clean bathrooms (which is a huge plus for a restaurant). Price is reasonable especially for the portion sizes. So, ignore the location and the look of the outside (they also have speakers playing horse sounds outside...) and head in for a delicious and friendly meal.

The service was excellent -- perfectly timed, without a single unnecessary wait. The prices felt very reasonable for the quality and level of the restaurant. Given how impressed I was with the food, I expected a little more from the desserts. They were good, but for me, they didn't quite reach the same level as the rest of the meal. Overall, Seventy-Six is a wonderful, atmospheric restaurant that made our trip to Holland even more enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend it.

Our waitress was really nice and overall service was quick. We ordered the Lemon Chicken and the Wedge Salad. The reason why I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars is mainly because of the chicken dish. I was expecting it to be more citrusy, but I feel like whatever lemon flavor it was meant to have was lost by some sort of sweetness. I think the Meyer lemon butter made the dish was so oddly sweet it mixed in with the rice underneath. Overall, this dish was sadly disappointing since we were looking forward to something savory and herby but got what felt like a sugar bomb for chicken. The salad was good and loaded with toppings, however, I felt like there was way too much dressing that drowned the salad once it was all mixed. If possible, I would get the dressing on the side. All in all, great ambiance, good service and a wonderful location. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong things. Still worth checking out, if you're in the area!

Further reading into the history of place, I found that this place has been around since the 1940s. A cool history and the curiosity for the long lines brought us to be one of those people standing in line one morning. First of all, I am slightly terrified of diners thinking the service would be bad but from the moment we were greeted to when we left the place, the atmosphere has been very welcoming and friendly. Our waitress sat us at a small booth close to the kitchen. I ordered coffee and their bird nest thinking... it should be fine, it's a bird nest, not a full blow whatever other huge breakfast plates they have! I was wrong. My husband ordered their famous hashbrown omelette that I felt could have fed an entire village! My bird nest came. My eyes got really big because honestly, it was the size of an eagles' nest. I apologized profusely for not finishing and since it was our last full day before moving on from Holland, I couldn't take the leftovers home. My husband felt the same way but he at least ate half of his food. To me, I think my food needed a bit more flavor but they have salt and pepper on the table. We noted that there seemed to be a lot of regulars or repeat customers. No doubt, this place is a very nostalgic place for a lot of people who have moved away or have visited here previously. To be honest, even though it was only our first visit, the people made us feel at home.

We picked this restaurant because it seemed to have one of the nicest outdoor seating options amongst eateries downtown. We also chose it because of the several relatively unusual menu options and a decent number of veggie options (though some items, we were told, could not be customized, such as Brussels sprouts that could be fried only in tallow). I ordered the Harissa pasta. It is a vegetarian pasta with a creamy Harissa sauce, onions, tomatoes and cheese (parmesan?). It had a strange though not entirely unpleasant taste: it was simultaneously sour and savoury, with the tomatoes adding some sweetness. I could only eat about half because the flavours started to get overwhelming, and spent most of my time figuring out if I liked the dish or not (verdict: yes). My dining partner had the flounder, which they were very pleased with. Our server was enthusiastic though a little harried. Quick service overall. I am not sure if I recommend this place for its food. While the outdoor seating area is very pretty, with great atmosphere, the food itself is not spectacular. Overall, better than average experience, though it is unlikely that I will return.
