The food is mid-tier Utah county sushi in my opinion. The Romeo and Juliet roll is pretty interesting and unique, but beyond that there's not a lot that stands out. The service is pretty slow even when it seems like they're not very busy. They forgot to bring out edamame we ordered and after we reminded them it took them ten more minutes to bring it out. Seems long for edamame. We also had a Groupon and it couldn't be applied to lunch specials, which would be fine if we knew that at the time of purchase (the coupon only says does not apply to happy hour which is a dinner time thing) and it made buying the Groupon pretty much a waste. read more

This place is amazing! The food was great. We loved the sunset roll. What made it extra special was the service. Every single person was so attentive and nice. The host was patient and explained the menu to my daughter who is a picky eater. Someone else noticed she was using chopsticks for the first time and offered the trainers. And a third person noticed she was using an app to find the name of the song that was playing and wrote it down for her. I love good food! But nothing is better than a friendly and caring team. We went to the orem location and everything was so clean and inviting! They even checked our temperature. Customer Service: 10/10 We wish we remembered our servers name because he was so nice. I've eaten here MANY times -- it's my second go-to sushi places after East moon bay and then usually tsunami after itto. Every roll I've had here has been delicious and fresh. I always order miso soup to start off and it's always brought out quickly and the flavor is . I've only had to wait a while to be seated one time and it was a Friday night at 7 so it was to be expected (& it was at the south jordan location). All other times I've either walked right in order waited 5-10 minutes (not bad at all because it's usually a weekend during dinner when I go). The space is clean and the servers are always kind and efficient. I've been to this place multiple times and I have always had a good experience. The food is fresh and doesn't take too long to get to the table--the hardest part is just deciding what rolls to get! This time I got the J Roll and the Romeo and Juliet. The J Roll was so good, I have no idea what sauce was on top of it, but it was delicious! The Romeo and Juliet roll really took the cake though--I had never had toasted coconut or mango on a roll, but it was divine. Definitely going to be one of my go-to rolls from here on out at Itto. Covid edition: Still amazing! They've done a great job keeping customers happy as they have extended the Tuesday/Wednesday specials all week during the pandemic. They also added a dinner special bento box that's really affordable. It's been awesome. A couple rolls that travel really well are the mafia and scallop dream. This is probably the most hype sushi place in the Provo/Orem area, so my wife and I were excited to try it out!! We went with the recommended sashimi boat (sashimi is just the fish without the rice) which was a great choice! It came with 12 pieces of sashimi, a rainbow roll, an ika (squid) wakame (seaweed) salad and two miso soups. The ika salad was surprise star of the show! The mix of sesame oil and other sauces brought a wonderful flavor to the ika and wakame. The sashimi and rainbow roll were both good, although the hamachi (yellowtail) was not the best. SO SAD to write this review because the food is SO GOOD! I'll give them that-- their food is delicious and never disappoints. But what is SO DISAPPOINTING every time that I've gone (three times in total by now) is that their SERVICE NEEDS A LOT OF IMPROVEMENT! Here's why: 1. They need way more waiters and chefs than they currently have. BUT I will commend one young waiter who seemed the most invested of all the waiters and waitresses in waiting tables. Poor guy was literally running around the restaurant trying to get people's foods to them and to take their orders etc. Kudos to him. Sometimes I felt like the other waitresses were just walking around without paying attention to our table's constant desire to catch their attention. 2. Our party of 8 waited for a long time for our foods to come out. And that's one thing I've learned. IF YOU HAVE A BIG PARTY, DON'T EAT HERE. All three times that we've come here, we've always needed to wait an incessantly long time for our food to come out. And that's not the end of it. 3. We ordered a rice bowl dish for my toddler son. That took a long time to come out, and when it did, they didn't even bring out the Miso soup that was supposed to come with it. We had to ask the waiters twice for it, and the second time, the waitress that brought it out literally said this, "Sorry, the reason we didn't bring the miso soup out to you was because we ran out of spoons." WHAT! You ran out of SPOONS? This will definitely be an inside joke among our party of friends for life. 4. One of our friends ordered the SAME rice bowl a little after us. It didn't come out until we were already leaving the restaurant. After all of us had already finished OUR own foods, we reminded a waiter about our friend's meal. He said he would go to the back to double check on it. After another 10 minutes he came back and said they were STILL making it... and that they were sorry and would take the meal off the bill and give it to us for free. All in all, I stand by what I said in the beginning. The food is great. My friends who made the reservation here tonight actually know Itto (the owner) himself. But... the service has always been so disappointing. Maybe I'll try coming back one day with just my husband and I. And I'll probably never bring a big party with me again. I finally found a sushi place in Utah County that I can frequent. I try not to be a food snob, and my only real philosophy is that food shouldn't pretend--if it's a $5 pizza, charge $5. If it's a Sysco-loving, microwave mecca, don't call your food "gourmet" or "fresh." If you want to be an above-average sushi joint with above-average pricing, don't just sell tempura California rolls stuffed to the gills with cream cheese. Be what you are--and let the rest of us know, so we can adjust our expectations. The flavors at Itto are great. I've had the Lion King, the Itto, the Vampire, and a few others, and I'm always a fan of rolls that mix spicy with sweet, such as the Itto with its jalapeno, tuna, and coconut shrimp. So what's my one beef? Every time I've gone I've paid upwards of $12 per roll, and a few times those rolls have skimped on the fish. My favorite SLC joints charge less and don't skimp on the fish. You get nice slabs of perfect tuna or salmon, balanced in ratio to the white rice. Here, you get great flavors and (sometimes) less fish per roll than the prices would lead you to expect (I'm talking thin, guys). Still, I love this place for the variety and flavors, so I'll keep coming back. read more

First time but not our last! Went with friends who love this place (even wears one of their shirts!) so we tried all their favorites and added a couple new ones. My favorite was the Romeo & Juliet for the warmth (shrimp tempura) and touch of sweet (sliced mango) with the Volcano a second... the crunchies made me leery at first, thinking it was to cover up a mistake (like how Lehi's Hibachi House uses panko - don't go there), but they make that roll unique and part of the fun! There are two citrus flavored rolls, one is the Sunset and I don't remember the name of the other, but they taste almost alike that you should just pick one. Those were the only rolls I used soy sauce on. The servers are sooo nice by helping each other check in tables often, but there's some disconnect in following through. We ordered the Romeo & Juliet with our initial batch but had to tell 3 different servers we still hadn't received it, even after we ordered more rolls - finally a chef whipped it up and brought it himself with his apologies. The gyoza is lackluster, though it looked pretty good; stuffing was less than typical in flavor and wrapper a little soggy/gooey. The frozen Ling Ling Costco stuff I can do at home is better. The mochi dessert is fun to try with a group so you each get a little sweetness to end your meal. They cut two flavors (mango and chocolaup into bite-size pieces and serve with canned strawberries, squirts of whipped cream, and maraschino cherries. Wasn't even barely warm inside (January in the 30's outside), so layer up in case that's their normal temp. read more

Not a huge Sushi guy, but this was not good. Don't have ANYTHING tempura related. I ordered tempura shrimp and it was a greasy, gross, inedible mess. It came wrapped in onion rings (for whatever reason), but Burger King's rings are waaay better. Disgusting. I told the waiter Stefano they were inedible and I essentially got a shrugged "bummer" from him. The place was FREEZING. The bathroom was broken. Stefano forgot my order then when I told him he said, "Sure, I'll add that for you." He was busing a table when I asked him about it, and he was like, "Yeah, just a minute. I'm busy". I try to be discerning about my 5 star reviews these days and only hand them out sparingly, so I was all ready to go with a 4 for an extremely pleasant experience when I realized I had nothing that I wish was different about this place. From the short seating time, attentive service, exquisite plating, and delicious flavors, my stop here was wonderful. I got the teriyaki beef as well as a couple of sushi rolls and while the sushi was good, I thought the flavor of the beef dish and the crunch of the tempura were spot on. The hand rolls were also fairly adorable. I will give a slight caveat to this. I went to the dark side tonight, and it wasn't a nice place to be. I'll cover that later. Itto is a great addition to the area. They had Uni, and it was excellent. As good as anything in the State. After finding out they don't have a license for beer and sake yet, Ian went above and beyond making it up to us with a gift of sable nigiri that had been torched and served with actual wasabi they had grated. There was a great fish to rice ratio, and the rice was not over compressed. It was designed to be picked up by hand, not chopsticks. Nobody else has done that in Utah County. Score one for a great introduction. The uni was so good we had to have a second one later. The otoro, tobiko, unagi, tuna, and a second sable were excellent. They have a bigger selection of nice fish than anyone outside of Tsunami. Given its close location to me, and I have a new place to get sushi. I don't like the low seating at the sushi bar. You end up looking up at the chefs. Also, you need to order the sushi via a server, not the chef. That's odd. Outside of that, it's a nice facility. We started with the agedashi tofu. It was good. The nigiri was excellent. There's a huge list of rolls. They were on special since it was Wednesday night. That led me to try the dark side. I've been unwilling to admit that in America these days, sushi is no more Japanese than Chicago deep dish pizza is Italian pizza. It's in name only. I don't think there is a speciality roll that could be found in a Japanese sushi bar. I decided to go to the dark side, admit sushi isn't Japanese, and try rolls with ingredients like coconut shrimp and cream cheese I've considered an abomination. We got two of them, and it convinced us walking on the dark side is not a good place to be. After eating the pristine clean flavors of the nigiri, the rolls were confused and gloppy. There were no textures and flavors of fish. Everything was wrong. At the end of the meal the chef brought out a half roll he's thinking of putting on the menu. It was inside out, but used rice paper instead of nori. It had scallop, surrounded with spice crab, and sable fish on the top. This kind of fusion roll I can get behind. It was very nice. We finished up with some miso soup and waddled out after eating far too much. I made up for the lack of alcohol by going home and finishing up the evening with some nice 12 year Japanese single malt Whisky. read more

Itto is the owner and head sushi chef and is super nice and very humble. He sometimes comes out to check on you to see how you like the sushi. Every Tuesday and Wednesday they have happy hour where some 25 rolls are up to 50% off from 5-9pm. The fish is never frozen and is flown in from San Francisco and is high quality.
