I have been to this location and the location in SLC many times in the past few years! I spent a gap year in Tokyo and my love for sushi grew there. Coming back to the US, it's really hard to find great places with affordable and fresh sushi. This place is the best I've tried! Typically I prefer to go for lunch and get their bento/lunch set meals. They have great nigiri and sashimi and for a great price at lunch! They also have very fun American rolls--including the firebird--which is lit on fire and tastes great! I haven't tried anything on their menu that I didn't like (and I truly have tried just about everything). Great place to find some authentic Japanese food or Americanized Japanese food! If you are looking for authentic, stick to nigiri, sashimi, takoyaki, miso soup, okonomiyaki, karaage, most of the entrees and noodle dishes. Literally can't go wrong! Judging by the number of diners in the restaurant, this is quite a popular eating establishment. My husband and daughter being the Japanese cuisine experts enjoy the variety of sushi and sushi me dishes. My husband also had a bowl of the miso soup and said it was the best he's had since being in Japan. I tried the closer with some rice and it was very tasty. I went with some friends here and we ordered a ton! The inside was pleasant and calming. The lights are dim and yet bright enough to see everything. I do think they could have 1 or 2 more tables for seating as well. Like, the whole middle area had nothing in it... it was just open space. Maybe adding a table would cut down the wait time? If you go here during happy hour, expect about a 40 min wait. However, also expect great food. Katherine was our server and she was so nice and patient. She kept checking on us and we kept saying we needed more time. She did an excellent job and smiled the whole time too. I hope to have her as a server again soon. All of the rolls were delicious! The flavors are immaculate and blend into perfection in your mouth. I was most surprised by the Sunset and Funcky Charley. I would recommend those for sure. Especially if you want a punch of flavor like the Sunset offers. On the other hand, I have had better gyoza. I also think the ginger could have been cut up better... it was large chunks and the Wasabi was almost like playdoug...I think it could have been a bit more moist. Itto sushi is quickly becoming my favorite sushi spot in Utah county. The ambiance is great and it's decorated very well. I especially enjoy the artwork. They greet you when you walk in and it never takes longer than a few seconds to be greeted. I've really only ever been here for lunch so I've always been sat immediately. The quality of the food is very very good. For my taste it's top tier sushi. Their bento box is a good value but I typically order just straight sushi. I've never had a bad experience with any aspect of the experience. I personally like the 911, and titanic rolls the best. The 911 comes on fire which is always fun and adds some different flavor. If you want a great experience and atmosphere without the high price this is the spot. Some things I would improve if I could would be the menus need a refresh, they're pretty beat up. Came here for lunch with my buddy whom I hadn't seen in a long time. His first time at this location as well as mine. I had been to the Midvale one before. The server was in so much disarray, kept going back and forth from the kitchen to our table to see what was available and what was gone. There were signs all over the walls with specials and different fish. Sadly all out of stock. My favorite thing was the Dynamite (removed the fake crab), baked tuna, scallops, salmon, yellowtail, red snapper with spicy mayo, eel sauce, tobiko and scallions. Wonderful concoction IMNSHO :-) The rolls with the lemon & lime slices were really good too. The rest not so much. We are big fans of ITTO sushi in Fort Union. So when I saw that there was also an ITTO Sushi in Orem, the family went. This place is more open and modern and then the ITTO Sushi we were used to. The sushi is just as fantastic here. One of the best things about ITTO is how easy they make it for my daughter who needs to be gluten-free. They pointed out the items they could not make gluten free (which were very few), double checked our order with this to make sure which rolls we wanted gluten-free, and immediately brought out gluten-free soy sauce for my daughter. I really enjoyed the firebird roll this time round, it's a fun one to try! The caterpillar is also great for those who like avocado and eel (they gave us the wrong roll so it's not in the picture). And the sunset is a nice refreshing on with the lemon! Their sushi is delicious and is worth it especially during happy hour! Definitely one of my favorite Japanese places in Provo! Huge fail on my part in not taking any photos. I was out visiting what I consider my adopted family and the question came up if there was any decent, real, authentic, ethnic Japanese sushi this far south in the valley. We do not under any circumstances eat those Americanized rolls covered in sweet or spicy or sweet and spicy sauce that passes for sushi in most places in this country. So I accepted the challenge to find sushi we could all enjoy. So I did a deep dive and identified this as being the most likely place to have authentic ethnic sushi, so we made a quick afternoon run down to check it out and yes they were quite excited to have some guests who would eat and enjoy real sushi and not the Americanized rolls that are passed off as sushi. They do not accept reservations, told us to call 30 minutes before arriving and they would put us on the wait list. We were seated shortly after we arrived and we were a party of 6 adults, one toddler and one newborn. I talked to the sushi chef and told him to just keep sending the best stuff until we tapped out. They did a wonderful job. Real good nigiri sushi that would do any sushi bar proud. It was so good I went back the next night on my own and did the same thing all over again. I highly recommend them for real sushi but you do have to communicate this to the sushi chef as it's not on the menu that way. read more

My wife and I go here at least once a week. The prices are great, the sushi is the best I've ever had, and the service is always phenomenal. The bento box is a great lunch pick, and the rolls have some fun gimmicks without sacrificing flavor. The firebird flavor was good, but came out smashed and we lost 2 of the sushi pieces. I've never had sushi fall apart every time I went to pick it up, very annoying that they didn't roll it tight enough. Gyoza was good. Jalapeño bomb was the best thing of the night. Ok...happened upon this place at University Mall in Orem around dinner time with the wife. We love good sushi and thought "hey...let's give this place a shot". It was a Friday night just after 5pm and the place was packed! The wait...20-30min. Hmmm...not wanting to wait, but wanted to try the place...with the thought process clearly on our expression, the nice hostess woman offered us the bar with a full menu. Instant sit and order up!! Perfect! Got to sit right next to my honey and watch the busy sushi makers (gotta be an official name for that??) do da thing! Also learned from one behind the counter that 500 rolls per night is not uncommon for this place. Ordered our rolls and it was SO GOOD. Nice tight rice with the perfect amount of goodness in each roll. Not super packed with tons of rice either. It was a great balance of flavor, consistency and texture. Itto Sushi is the place for unique rolls! Itto Sushi has a large variety of sushi rolls, including some that are off the menu. The restaurant is very spacious inside and the staff is always so friendly. First of all, let's talk about the unique rolls. They have two rolls that they actually light on fire, the Firebird and 911. I have had the Firebird and not only was it fun to watch, it was quite tasty. The rice at the bottom gets a little crisp to it. The Dracula roll is off the menu but is available by request all year round. Decked out in a smokey coffin, the Dracula is quite the spectacle. This roll ends up with a mild smokey taste. Presentation for all of the rolls in general is beautiful. They have a Love roll which comes out as two sushi pieces forming hearts. With so many different rolls, it can definitely take a few visits until you find the ones that you enjoy the most! The first time I went to Itto Sushi I had the Romeo & Juliet roll, which I thought I would love because it includes mango. Unfortunately, I found the roll fairly bland. The next time I had the fire dragon, which was much better, although not as spicy as I hoped per the name. The roll that really impressed me was the Lion King, with that little bit of lime on top. That one is my favorite roll hands down. Fish at Itto Sushi is always so fresh. Pricing is fair for the quality that you receive. Came here to celebrate a birthday and was happy to see how well they were handling things with covid. All employees were wearing masks and they really limited how many people could be in the restaurant. Although this meant we had to wait a bit longer it was better for our safety. I didn't really feel like sushi so I got the teriyaki steak. Normally teriyaki steak is just a nice cut slices beef but Itto decided to change it up and cut it up into tiny little pieces. This overall made the beef cook quicker but resulted in very dry meat due to how overcooked the meat was. I was not too keen on the bento this time and couldn't finish my plate. These guys serve up the meatiest sushi rolls in town. My standard salmon roll, tuna roll, Philadelphia roll and California roll comprise a full dinner for me and were all delicious. The dining area is roomy with large tables for groups as well plus there is plenty of free parking outside. They are located within a large mall. This could be a good post-shopping meal place. We were dining at Itto on a Friday night at prime time and had no problem getting seated immediately. The only issue I had was the fact that they do not have artificial sweeteners for your tea. You get sugar for a sweetener or nothing. Where is the Splenda or sweet & low? That tea ruined the perfect rating for me. They are also a little skimpy on the wasabi. It's hard to review a DoorDash order because it's never going to be the same compared to dining in, so I will say that for delivery, this place is pretty good. We got the Bento Box (Pork Gyoza, Tempura Shrimp Roll, California Roll, Miso Soup, Rice) plus a Rainbow Roll. The Pork Gyoza and Rainbow Roll were noteworthy. My only complaints were that I wish they'd separate the pickled ginger from the wasabi container because wasabi is freaking nasty and #firstworldproblems :) :) I'll be back! So disappointed. I really wanted to love this place. I'm a self-admitted sushi snob and have hit just about every sushi place from Provo to Ogden. I saw a decent star rating and my wife and I decided to give Itto a try for our anniversary. We ordered 6 rolls and 2 Nigiri. The Sablefish nigiri is meant to be served warm and often has been torched with butane. This was served just off cold and was just pretty terrible. The same was true of the freshwater eel. Also meant to be served warm - it wasn't and was like luke warm rubber. Not good! We ordered some of the recommended rolls (from other diner reviews) and some that were waiter recommended. The quality is just not there. We got a volcano roll. It's just a roll of "mush" buried under an obnoxious amount of powder and you have to dig it out. (See photos). We got a Hawaiian, not bad but the strawberry milkshake purée just kind of ruins it. It had potential! We got a J-Roll which was just meh. The Samurai had tempura shrimp on the inside and it was burnt black and tasted and smelled terrible! Needless to say we didn't eat that. The one and only good roll was the Fire Bird. Well made, tasty and just done right. The rest were just disappointing. The service was mediocre too. Waiter was friendly enoughto start but took our order and disappeared (in an almost empty restaurant - we'd gone in early so there were only 3 tables in there) and we didn't see him again till he came by and said "so I assume you're done"? No how was it's, no offers of dessert or mid-meal check in. We will have to stick to our fav spots: Tona (Ogden) and Sapas (Dowtown SLC). The $75 price tag for 2 at Itto just didn't have the quality to justify it. read more

Wow. My husband and I went here for the first time last Wednesday for happy hour. We waited about 30 minutes and once we were seated got served fast and efficiently. We ordered the Romeo and Juliet (sweet, loved the coconut), Firebird (so cool it is on fire and had a smoky flavor) and Godzilla. The flavors of the rolls were so unique and the presentation was incredible. We don't eat out much but are taking our friends here this upcoming week. Went to Itto for happy hour tonight and was very happy with the results! We got the Mafia sans cilantro cause I hate cilantro and then rainbow, Romeo & Juliet, two playboys, a firebird, salmon sashimi, waygu nigiri, and tuna belly nigiri. My favorite by far was the tuna belly nigiri. So yummy!!!!! I didn't love the Romeo & Juliet (my friend got it so I didn't feel too bad ha) but all the other rolls were yummy. I also wasn't super impressed with the waygu nigiri - I expected it to be melt in your mouth tender (based on precious experience from having it at a different restaurant) but I think it was seared a little too long on a cooking surface that wasn't hot enough. The salmon sashimi, although I loved the amount of fish given, didn't love how thick the pieces were cut. They were just a little too thick were towards the center of the piece the texture gets tough and weird. Service was good! Everyone was really nice! Will definitely be back! read more
