First visit, Monday 4/20/26…read more Visiting Boston on a work trip, I had no idea the Marathon was today! Met 4 colleagues at The Red Fox for dinner, a recommendation from a friend of my colleague. Tough to find initially and very unsuspecting upon arrival. As you enter the front door (think like walking into a foyer of a small apartment building) you go down a flight of stairs into the restaurant. Then wow, this place is awesome! Small entry way into the restaurant with a hostess immediately greeting you. The bar is your first view of the place and it was packed. I'd describe it as dimly light, great atmosphere and ambience, almost a speakeasy feel. I'd recommend a reservation. The hostess walked us to our table, walking along the bar line with small 2-4 top tables to our left, we then turned left into the main dining room. 5 of us and we were seated at a horseshoe style table, plenty of room for up to 6 adults. Service was instant, she was friendly and very knowledgeable. We ordered cocktails and a couple apps. The drinks arrived along with bread service. They added small side plates with oils and olives, a nice touch. The cocktails were fantastic as was the homemade bread. A unique twist with my cocktail (kettle one & soda), was the single ice cube that was a long rectangle cube that was so clear you couldn't see it! The cubes length was the same as the tall glass it was served in and didn't melt. For dinner I listened to our server who recommended the Chicken Parmigiana with a chefs twist using a vodka infused sauce, this dish was amazing! My colleagues all shared the same feelings that this meal was spectacular. Highly recommend The Red Fox!

Had a pretty good experience at Parla! The restaurant has a really fun and lively atmosphere,…read moremaking it a great spot for a date night or drinks with friends. The space is quite small and intimate, though, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time! We ordered the lobster ravioli and a few cocktails. The food was pretty good overall, although nothing particularly special or memorable. It was enjoyable, but I'd say the cocktails and atmosphere were more of the highlights here. One of the fun things about Parla is their cocktail roulette, where you get a surprise drink! I decided to give it a try and ended up with Pipe Dreams, which was surprisingly really good! It was definitely on the stronger side, but I actually really enjoyed it. Such a fun concept, especially if you're feeling adventurous and want to try something different from your usual order. Overall, Parla is a cute spot with a great vibe and creative cocktails. While the food didn't completely blow me away, I really enjoyed the experience. I'd definitely come back for the drinks and atmosphere, especially the cocktail roulette! Just make sure to book a table in advance since seating is pretty limited.

Pretty good place with very delicious drinks!…read more The vibe here is very moody, with music very interesting-- just fair warning, it is quite loud music. But we liked it! Overall, I think this is a decent place to get some good drinks. Calamari was not too shabby, but the espresso martini was the best drink of the night!

I've not only had many of the best drinks I've ever had in Boston here, but some of the best drinks I've ever had. The bartenders are also great at explaining things. The only cons are that it's hard to get tickets -- they do a prix fixe drink menu for which you buy tickets online, all included. But ti's hard to get them because they're so good! You should come expecting to drink perhaps more than you usually do (or at least than we do) -- say 3.5 drinks. So a taxi, rideshare, or public transit it the way to go. And the accompanying food is meant as a sidelight -- it accompanies the drinks, which are the focus. If you like inventive cocktails, this is the top place to try in Boston. Just don't expect a full meal (it's snacks) or great decor -- it's a small counter bar and that's about it. But the drinks, again, are always good and often amazing.

Totally worth the hype!…read more Came here for drinks with friends and was blown away with the creativity of the cocktails and the warmth of the staff. This place is tiny and you need to fight for your life for a reservation but it makes sense why it's so popular. The drinks are spectacular and the staff are extremely knowledgeable and will guide you through the whole experience. Will definitely be returning!

We arrived for our whirlwind 1 day Boston day with a few things planned. The Wig Shop was a spot I had earmarked as a maybe. On the way to Boston by train from New York, I read an article of great bars in all of America, and the Wig Shop had made their list. I showed my gal as we were in route to Boston, and we agreed that Karma was leading us there. I checked about a reservation, but ended up going over early to try and beat the walk in crowd. That worked out great, we had almost no wait. The place was full. There were alot of people enjoying the food menu, which we didn't plan on since we had dinner reservations elsewhere for later. But we got a couple of drinks. There are many types of speakeasies. The Wig Shop is one of favorite kinds, classy. The drinks were alcohol forward, with elegant presentations. It was perfect. It was nice that the universe pointed us towards this great Boston spot.

It responded right away that it would optimize for a place that appeals to cocktail nerds and is open on Mondays. I directed me to Wig Shop, and said that Wig Shop even has a cocktail named in honor of John Gertsen, Boston's much-missed (he's in SF, last I knew) founding bartender at Drink and Number Nine Park. Wig Shop did not disappoint: fabulous cocktails, an easygoing vibe (my two buddies and I were able to chat without yelling from 8pm until 11:30), comfortable banquettes (with, incidentally, backs that are high enough to be supportive but low enough that you can spread out your arms on them), and wonderful service. The service, in particular, lives up to the "cocktail nerd" aspect that the LLM highlighted: our server knew the drinks backwards and forwards, and knew exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned the drink in Gertsen's honor. I'd recommend this place to cocktail nerds, and to anyone who wants to have a drink and chat with friends. We'll be back soon.

You have to enter the building with a small fox picture, go down a set of stairs and check in at the counter of said restaurant before they lead you into the back where the speakeasy is. The menu is "set" in that they have a particular cuisine focus for the night and the four food dishes are predetermined as well as the first drink. That being said, you get to order three more drinks from their cocktail menu that range from lighter to more spirit forward, ending with more dessert type cocktails. All the drink flavors were so unique and a fun twist. The food was actually very substantial. Good flavors as well. Our favorite dishes were the lamb cigars (large egg roll shape with eggplant and spices) and the whole branzino. Everything was good though. Service was a very friendly and they were open about the fact that if you didn't like a drink they'd make you another one.
