The platinum AYCE is $42.99 per person. I really enjoyed my meal at Itacho. There was plenty of parking. We didn't have to wait on a Saturday night even though we had a big group (6 adults). After we got seated, they took our first order - it was huge. They already started bringing out the appetizers as we were ordering! They were so fast. We got edamame and tempura shrimp right away. A lot of the menu items were so good. That's why I would come back. I loved the teppanyaki! The shrimp and steak were best. The ramen was ok, but it was cool that they let us order the broth by itself. I also loved the sashimi like eel, salmon, tuna, and scallops. The only thing that was a disappointment were the mango tuna and mango salmon. These were way too sweet. Of the dessert, my favorite was the cheesecake. The fried cheesecake was good and better with the ice cream. I also loved the hand rolls. The sweet potato hand roll was surprisingly pretty good. Service was great! The restaurant felt clean and spacious. I didn't feel cramped at all. They were playing an anime on the big TV screen. Maybe they will play football games on Sundays? Credit card accepted. Gratuity is added to parties of 6 or more. I would come back! read more

If you're looking for fresh delicious AYCE Sushi, Itacho Sushi is the place for you. The staff are very nice and attentative. The establishment is pretty big so it can accommodate large parties. There's a parking lot but it can be hard to find parking depending on the time of day you get there because there are quite a few well known restaurants sharing the parking lot so you might have to circle around. Now the best part...the food! All the food was great! The fish was very fresh and delicious. There was plenty of options. There was plenty of cooked options for those that aren't a fan of raw fish. They even have Ramen and Teppanyaki. The only thing that I wish they did was have an option for a la cart for those people that don't want AYCE. Everyone has to get AYCE. That's the only negative thing I would say about this establishment. Everything else was awesome! The price is pretty reasonable because it includes sashimi. It's $43/person or you can get the ultra for $58/person for additional 10 pieces of their "special" nigiri. In my opinion, the $43 option is more than enough. There are so many options and it even comes with dessert. The dessert was ok, but you're not there for that. I would say for the large menu of items, freshness and deliciousness, this is the top AYCE Sushi Restaurant in San Diego. read more

My hubby and I came here for lunch to celebrate our anniversary. We called ahead to ask if we could order from the dinner Platinum AYCE menu during lunch, and they were able to accommodate us, which we appreciated! Overall, the food was pretty mid for us. I don't eat much raw sushi, so this experience was mainly for my hubby to enjoy, while I tried more of the cooked options. The steak teppanyaki could've used more seasoning, the ramen was probably a 5/10, and the fried rolls I ordered were a little too heavily sauced for my taste. Eel is my typical go to, and even the eel was quite underwhelming unfortunately. I do wonder if ordering the dinner menu during lunch may have affected the overall quality or experience. Funny enough, when I asked my hubby what his favorite thing was, he said the crab rangoon! I completely agreed! For someone who came wanting sushi, that was definitely unexpected. It was also somehow the only thing I didn't take a picture of because apparently it was too good for my camera! On the positive side, everything we ordered came out correctly and in a timely manner, and we had no issues with the service. But for the price, especially compared with other AYCE sushi spots we've tried, there wasn't enough that stood out to make us eager to come back. Still glad we gave it a try for our anniversary! read more

New AYCE sushi spot in SD that hit the spot for us! Delicious food, expansive menu, beautiful atmosphere, and great service! The fish was fresh and of high quality, my personal favorites out of everything our group ordered were the eel sushi and salmon tartare. This place offers classic rolls you'd find at your usual spot & some less common items like tartare, teppanyaki, spam musubi etc. All of the staff we interacted with were friendly & kept our table clean & drinks/orders consistently topped up. read more

This is our second time going for lunch for only $29.99 before 4pm. Way better than Little Sakana. Fish is fresh, service is so freaking awesome and attentive. Our drinks were always full. The servers are so observant and kind. And the fried cheesecake (to die for) but make sure you order it with the ice cream which my husband did (vanilla). One thing I really liked is that rice on the rolls were minimal as well as the nigiri was not full of rice so it was easy for us to finish our food. Thick slices of fish is how we prefer it. Overall, superb! I cannot imagine what premium dinner is like at $55 wowzers. My favorite sushi spot! But the baby octopus was supposed to be 3 piece but we got a pile of them. Regardless, cute spot for a dinner date with your significant other or just a group hangout . Not only is there many spacious parking unlike the rest of convoy but lots of tables and no wait on a Friday evening when we left around 5:30pm. read more

So take this review with the insight that I went with the platinum menu, unlimited sashimi and a handful of other extras. The sashimi was great, should have definitely stayed in that lane. The other rolls were good, but their rice to fish ratio was way off, if it was 4:1 I'd recommend adjusting it to 2:1, it takes away from the freshness of the fish. Service was alright, my water was consistently refilled, but getting the eel nigiri took almost 4 other orders to go through. Deep fried cheesecakes were mid, definitely a bigger fantasy than the reality turned out to me. I'd definitely say the only way to go is to go with the platinum menu, and ONLY order off the sashimi menu. Enjoy! read more

Itacho sushi is now one of my go-to spots for AYCE sushi! I recommend all my friends to come here and have been here multiple times myself. I'm so glad that there's an option that includes sashimi so that I can eat more salmon :) My favorites are the popcorn oyster, salmon sashimi, seared salmon, salmon hand roll, and the amazing salmon! (Can you tell I love salmon ) I did try the scallops, yellowtail, and tuna but I would still prefer the salmon just because it tastes better. Service is always great and will continue to come back again! read more

First time here and will be coming back. We did the AYCE option for $42.99 and it was worth the price. A pretty good selection of sushi, nigiri and appetizers. Also included is shrimp and chopped up steak. I should have taken more pictures! Desert is also included. The restaurant has nice decor and a couple of big tvs with movies playing. A lot of parking which is always great to have in this area. Can't wait to come back and try everything I didn't try this time. read more

Great quality sushi and the servers are very attentive! Love getting all you can eat - obviously a bit pricey but most places are nowadays unfortunately. I think the sushi is on par with Little Sakana, with some pieces better and sometimes not as good, but I do love their skewers and sides as well which is also included! Food comes out usually pretty fast, interior is super spacious and there's a lot of seating inside. Parking in that lot can be rough at peak hours though. read more

Bumping them up to 5 stars for consistently friendly service, good food quality, and amazing value for the price. This is my husband and I favorite AYCE sushi. The fish to rice ratio on nigiri is good. My favorite items are the amazing salmon, salmon tartar, avocado salad, salmon teppanyaki, fried tofu, and French fries. The French fries are seasoned well and crispy. Fried tofu is delicious due to how hot and flakey the tempura batter and paired with the soft silkiness of the tofu. I also love the eel avocado hand rolls but it can be hit or miss with sometimes having sharp small bones, so eat with caution! For dessert my husband loves the ice cream. I love the sesame balls they so delightfully hot soft and chewy. Parking is free and plenty but the spots are tight. read more

Second time at Itacho and it was even better than the first. Good quality fish and sashimi is included without an extra charge. I love their appetizer and sides options. The shrimp tempura, takoyaki, and baby octopus salad are the best! They also include dessert which most places don't. Lots of seating and can accommodate big parties. Hubby & I were curious so we came here for lunch then our gf's bday. Lunch service was way more attentive than dinner. Options are limited during lunch but decent. No standout dishes but the sweet shrimp was the most hilarious TINIEST thing I've ever seen, ridiculous. For dinner, it was a busy Sunday night & extremely loud. Our waitress took forever with everything. She forgot 3 of our dishes, waters & drinks. Never once came & check on us. We had to wave her down & when we pointed out our missing dishes she completely ignored us & blamed the kitchen. Glad we were able to try their lunch & dinner. I'm in town for the week so I reached out to a friend for lunch. She found this place and we went in. We were sat immediately by the hostess and left with the menu. We wanted the all you can eat option and we had questions. The hostess walked away quickly, not giving us a chance to ask. No worries honestly. Waiter shows up a few minutes later and he has the answers for us. We knew he would, but the extra time would have been good for us to make choices. Again, no worries. We order our food and everything was great. When the put the rolls down, it was two waiters and the rolls names came quick. We think we figured it out, but I could be wrong All the rolls we choose were great, but The New York Roll and the Rainbow roll were my favorites. If I lived here I would be back for sure. Friendly staff, tasty sushi. I loved the ice cream came out in the small containers reminding me of middle school lunch time. That was cool read more

ATTN: Show student ID for 10% discount!! Came here with friends to try this AYCE sushi place they have been raving about. We came on a weekday for dinner and were seated immediately. Parking was pretty easy. Service was very quick and efficient, which I liked. Fyi, they only offer shashimi during dinner and on weekends. Although weekday lunch is significantly cheaper, the fanciest option is nigiri on that menu. We ordered lots and lots of sashimi, specifically salmon, yellowtail, tuna, and mackerel. Unlike other AYCE places, there's no limit to ordering anything for any round, so go crazy (at your own risk). I really liked the salmon and yellowtail. However, I wasn't a huge fan of the tuna. I thought it was too tough in consistency wasn't as buttery as I was hoping. Appetizers were good; we ordered 1 of every appetizer pictured on the menu. Rolls were solid. Enjoyed the variety. Tried the steak teppanyaki, and it was average; more chewy than I would have liked, but I was curious. They have desserts including ice cream, cheesecake, and deep-fried cheesecake. Ice cream was average. I thought the cheesecake was too sweet and couldn't finish it. Overall, enjoyed my experience. Price is worth the AYCE. Food 5 stars service one star I asked 5 times for water I ordered a TUNA ROLL repeated it twice he brought a hand roll I asked again tuna roll he brought another hand roll he forgot my eel and 2 pieces of shrimp and rainbow roll. Good thing it's all you can eat however when you don't get what you order not good. Either my server wrote the wrong items by mistake for the chefs or he wasn't listening . He looked very young perhaps wasn't fully trained. I always feel obligated to leave a tip which I did of course but he didn't deserve one I hope it is divided amongst chefs too. read more

All you can eat sushi and it did not disappoint. Cravings were satisfied. I ordered multiple rolls on the menu and all of them were really good ! I do like that nigori and sashimi are both included in this price. The reason i did not give it 5 stars was just some of fish just tasted like it just has been defrosted in the back. Instead of tasting fresh you can taste the fish saturated with water weight. The interior is pretty nice. It's all hard wood everywhere and looks like the inside of a Japanese dojo. They advertise Japanese videos, posters and many more. The service was exceptional. I enjoyed this place a lot. The price is a little hefty but if you come during the week during lunch hours you can get a great price for a steal. read more

Been looking for a new AYCE spot in the region and Itacho did not disappoint! I love Little Sakana and go often so I was curious how this place was different - I think you get jus different selections of rolls and apps here + a few more extras that we loved. The service was good, our particular server was sooooo nice and fun and made sure we were taken care of. The restaurant is nice and big, a really open space that feels super casual and modern. Whoever did the playlist that did was doing the damn thing, I rapping bars as much as I was eating the sushi! Overall i'd say 8/10 spot, as I do feel like som flavors could have been better and the delivery of the dishes felt kind of chaotic (albeit fast!). Absolutely terrible first impression. I walked in with roughly an hour left before closing and the owner was immediately rude and told me they wouldn't seat me. No hospitality, no attempt to explain the situation professionally, and no sense that my business was wanted at all. I'm a food critic and pay close attention to the entire dining experience -not just the food- and service like this makes it impossible to even get that far. I can't comment on the sushi because I wasn't given the opportunity to try it. Based on the way I was treated walking through the door, I wouldn't recommend this place. There are far too many sushi restaurants in San Diego that actually appreciate their customers. read more

I would give this place 3.5 stars if I could. Definitely come here hungry because it is an AYCE spot. There is easy plaza parking. I came here on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't very busy! There's a decent amount of options of rolls, nigiri, handrolls, and appetisers you can try here! All of the nigiri and handrolls were great. San Diego really just has the freshest fish! I also really enjoyed the fish appetizers. Unfortunately I found a bone and an unedible piece of fish in my nigiri and that broke my heart :( I also wanted to try the soups, but both the hot and sour soup and the ramen had very bland broth. I'd highly recommend sticking to just the sushi and fish here! read more

Tried this last night after craving all you can eat sushi for a while now. The quality on everything is pretty well above what you would normally see for all you can eat. Nigiri portions were big and meaty and a lot of the rolls came in sets of 5 instead of 8 so we could try more! The Wagyu nigiri was great and we loved the demon roll. I would load up on nigiri pretty much the whole time if I went back especially the seared tuna and seared salmon! Some of the cooked dishes take a little bit longer obviously but they are really really fast! Plus they take orders by person so each person's items are brought out together so you don't have to trade nigiri's across people. Sadly, I have to rate this place low. The vibe was awesome but I got some food poisoning and I am still suffering. We decided to grab a bite after visiting the car dealer next door and picking up my car from service. The place was not packed and had maybe 10 customers on Friday at 5:30p. We went for the All You Can Eat (AYCE) Sushi Platinum (Standard) for $43. The Ultra (Premium) AYCE includes about 5 or 6 choice Nigiri options. They have rules that you cannot have any leftovers, or you will be charged by the piece. The AYCE Standard Menu spans so many options and has a front and back page of choices from Apps to Ramen, and of course, Sushi. We ordered so many things to try so it's hard to pinpoint what got me sick. I do recall during a brief dining moment that I tasted something that was foul or not right when I bit into my "Itacho Yumi Roll". I mentioned to my Husband that something tasted rotten or spoiled in my first 2 bites. I brushed it off then continued our time dining. We ordered and ate: Teppanyaki (Hibachi) Chicken, Teppanyaki (Hibachi) Steak, Itacho Yumi Roll, Coronado Bridge Roll, Sweetheart Roll, Hawaiian Roll, Deep Fried California Roll, Appetizer Baked Jumbo Shrimp (I did not enjoy this dish), and the list goes on. I did also have an experience where my serving of Teppanyaki Chicken tasted like kitchen/grill cleaner during this experience. Our server was awesome. All of the staff is awesome and very attentive about clearing plates, bringing out ordered items, and the customer service by our server was great. Unfortunately, me getting sick from this experience took away all the good vibes for me. The place was PACKED by the time we left at 6:30p. People were outside and inside waiting for their name to be called from the long waitlist. I truly hope that no one else got sick on Friday night. read more

First time here and I was highly impressed. AYCE can really be a hit or a complete miss. The restaurant was big and open. We were seated right away for a Saturday night. It was pretty busy too but had tables open. Sweet: Good comparable price for what's included. We enjoyed most of the items that we tried. All the sushi items were fresh except for the sweet shrimp. My favorites were probably the hand-rolls and nigiri. I like how they have teppanyaki as well so if you don't want to have sushi they have a variety of options to choose from. For the most part the food comes out at a decent pace. Sour: The server wasn't the greatest. She was quite didn't say much even just came up at times to take our orders but didn't acknowledge us while taking our order. Which was a bit odd. Didn't even apologize when our exact order was given to the table behind us and she had to order it again. We did enjoy everything we tried except for the sweet shrimp and chicken meatball. The sweet shrimp was extremely tiny almost could've missed it on the plate. But besides the size of it as it's not a big deal of the size it was not very fresh. The chicken meatball had a very weird taste didn't even attempt to finish it. The sushi rolls weren't much of an interest to me, most of them have cream cheese inside. Overall I really enjoyed this AYCE. I will definitely be back. Next time I'd like to check out the lunch menu. read more

I came here with a group of five and had a great experience from start to finish. There were plenty of tables available, so we were seated immediately. Our server was awesome. He was attentive, friendly, and on top of everything throughout the meal. We ordered several items to share: * Yellowtail Sashimi: by far the standout dish of the night. It was incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious. * Seared Tuna Nigiri * Seared Salmon Nigiri * Krab Rangoon: to die for! Crispy and served with a delicious dipping sauce. * Tiger Roll: I appreciated the seared aspect, but it was a little heavy due to the amount of sauce. * Lemon Roll: my favorite roll of the evening. It was light and refreshing. * Dragon Roll * Amazing Tuna Roll * Lobster Roll: light and fresh. Overall, the quality of the fish was great and the service was excellent. However, since it's an AYCE sushi spot, the rolls were fresh and enjoyable, but none really stood out as particularly unique or memorable. We tried this sushi buffet right opposite 99 ranch in the evening with two friends. It costs around 43 per person. The restaurant promises all dishes are freshly made to order with no pre-prepared sushi. You can order unlimited sashimi like salmon and tuna. All sushi rolls are generously filled, and the sauces are well-seasoned without being overly salty. Besides sashimi and nigiri, they also serve gyoza, tempura, miso soup, grilled items and ramen. The overall taste is just so-so. The salmon tartare and grilled eel are highly recommended, while the ramen is not worth trying as it tastes mediocre. Orders are taken via paper slips, and food comes out really fast. The dining space is clean and simple. That said, I had an upset stomach and diarrhea after going home, though my two friends were fine. I'm not sure if it was just my sensitive stomach. read more

I made a last minute decision to try Itacho AYCE sushi over KBBQ one night and I'm glad I did. I've been a frequent customer at Little Sakana in Mira Mesa for AYCE sushi, but I was very interested in trying this place because of their all-you-can eat sashimi which is hard to come by! This restaurant is located in a large plaza and parking is considered easy. You can join the waitlist on Yelp before arriving as well which is always welcomed. My party of three arrived on Sunday at 5 PM with no reservation and were seated right away. The ambiance of the place is nice and spacious, there were large screen TVs next to the sushi bar. Lots of seating for small and large parties. Weekend AYCE price was $42.99 for the platinum level. I didn't feel that the Ultra was worth it. Onto the food - overall there's a wide range of variety for an AYCE location from raw and cooked appetizers, sashimi, nigiri, handrolls and specialty rolls. I love that they also provide yakitori and teppanyaki, a great choice if you want to mix it up between just raw fish and cooked meats. My favorite dishes were the salmon sashimi and the steak teppanyaki. I will say that the tuna, yellowtail and escolar slices of sashimi were weak - poorly cut, and fish wasn't as fresh. The tuna especially had an odd texture - like tasteless jellied fish. For nigiri, the rice was a bit on the drier side and the yakitori was too sweet for me personally. I also ordered 20 pieces of salmon for each nigiri plate but was shorted about 5-7 slices per plate. A bit disappointing. All that to say, I still left Itacho happy and it definitely satisfied my sushi craving. I would give this place a try, it's not a bad contender for AYCE sushi in SD. read more
