O-toro
Dominico R.

It's Memorial Day. Happened to crave for sushi. Good thing 2b1is open. Walk in without reservation. We ordered Uni Pasta . It was delicious. Reminded me of the place we ate at Tokyo . O-toro melts in your mouth . The Chu-toro is as creamier buttery tasting than O-toro.The lunch set was ok good amount of rice. Rin the server was attentive.

If you're looking for quality fish & don't mind splurging a little bit Harmony 2B1 is a must try. Restaurant is a bit small so best to make reservations ahead of time. They usually have young student servers that are nice & respectful. Table for 2 is tiny so if you plan to order a lot be prepared to play a little game of Tetris with the plates. Yellowtail Kama is perfectly cooked with crispy skin on the outside and juicy in the inside. For anyone looking for a no rice roll. Try the Kinuta roll. It's cucumber wrapped filled with plenty of snow crab & fish. Light & refreshing. The only thing is that it does break apart very easily. The Salmon Fresh roll is also very tasty roll. Lastly, the nigiri's are Chef's kiss. Always enjoy coming here.

Wagyu risotto

Went here for NYE dinner and this place did not disappoint. Came in a little early, before my reservation, and was able to get seated at the bar. The interior decor was stunning, warm and chic. As I was waiting for my food, they were offering complimentary NYE wine and it was tasty. I started off with the lobster chowder. It was rich, creamy and super flavorful. Then I got the wagyu risotto...WOW. It was the perfect blend of juicy meat and melt in your mouth risotto. If you love risotto, I definitely recommend. When deciding which sushi roll to get, it was a no brainer I'd get the yellow magic roll because it was topped with truffle --- anything truffle is chef's kiss. This roll was another flavorful roll and was super delicious. To end the night, I got the dragonfruit sorbet. If you're looking for a yummy sushi spot that isn't crowded, quiet and has easy parking, I highly recommend this spot!

Belly! Yellowtail, salmon, and tuna bellies

A convoy st spot tucked into a strip mall, like most restaurants on this street, the parking lot is usually overrun and difficult to find a spot in. Prepare for people circling. This is a high quality sushi spot with items being a bit on the pricier side. I do feel like it's a good value for the quality here. I started off with the sashimi belly melts. Yellowtail, salmon, and tuna belly, each piece was a good size, melted in my mouth like butter. So incredible. Definitely recommend this item. I also tried the salmon fresh roll and just a normal tuna roll. Salmon fresh roll was a bit underwhelming here. Salmon didn't really standout - texturally or flavor wise. The roll was sitting on some sort of sauce or liquid and it actually was soaking into the rice causing the bottom of the roll to fall out. It didn't really hold together and made it hard to eat. The tuna roll was standard, nothing crazy. Something in the roll was very crunchy, maybe the cucumber or something else. Little contrasting crunch is nice, but this was honestly too much that I lost the tuna. Service was good, clearing our plates quickly and refilling water. Though oddly we were missing soy sauce dishes and our soy sauce container was almost empty and we had to request for more. Pacing was a bit off with the different rolls we ordered taking quite some time in between. Would have preferred for them to come close to the same time, wait staff was apologetic, but still takes the craft here down just a notch. I enjoyed it overall and would come back. But I feel maybe this would be better experienced as omakase or some of the higher end stuff on the menu. For just normal rolls, I don't think the quality stood out for the price.

UPDATE! I've been coming here for awhile now and love it. At this point I've tried several things off their menu and now coming here as one of my go-to spots. NIGIRI - their fish here is incredible fresh and good. Some of their offerings can be local or from Japan such as their uni. UNI PASTA ($35) - the size of their uni pasta for that dollar is kind of small. I've had several variations of uni pasta and will say their uni pasta has been the best I've tasted. The uni they put in their pasta is Uni from San Diego (not from Japan) though Uni from Japan has overall a better flavor if talking about In specifically. The pasta is so creamy and garnished with saffron. HIGHLY RECOMMEND YUZU-HAMA ($24) - Yellowtail, snow crab, avocado, cucumber, Asian mix, lemon slice, and yuzu ponzu. this is my favorite speciality roll here and I always order it. The crab is real snow crab - none of that imitation stuff. It's easy to take, nothing too fishy and nothing too citrisy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND JUNMAI DAIGINJO BLACK LABEL ($43/300ml) - Pure organic sake. I like my sake either dry or floral and delicate and this one was recommended as tonight I was feeling floral and delicate. I think we got about 8-10 shots out of the bottle. Although served room temperature, It was really good and easy to shoot back. HOGHLY RECOMMEND PANNA COTTA ($10) - 3 flavors - vanilla, matcha, chocolate. They came in mini glasses and not as custard or silky as I like my panna cotta but still a nice treat to wrap up dinner. I'd say this might be the best option of the desserts. RECOMMEND Love this place and will always be back...

Lobster chowder

My husband and I have dined here twice, once for a late lunch on a Saturday and an early dinner on a Tuesday. We sat at the sushi bar both times and had excellent food and service. We happened to be in the area on Tuesday and made reservations within 15 minutes and were able to get a great seat. We started with the UKA sake tasting, oysters, and lobster chowder and lobster miso soup. Both lobster dishes were amazing; you could taste how fresh the lobster was. I thoroughly enjoyed the chowder while my husband had the miso soup. The sake was also really good, so good that we got a bottle of the UKA dry. Note this tasting does come with sparkling sake. My husband didn't care for it, but I didn't mind it. We then had the sashimi moriawase and oh my goodness that was amazing. The presentation was beautiful and the fish just melted in our mouths. We asked which order we should eat the sashimi and were so glad that we followed the directions! Everything was amazing, but we particularly enjoyed the Hokkaido scallops, chu toro, and kasugo. We then had nigiri: fisherman style, red king crab, kama toro, and truffle hamachi. Each piece was seasoned to perfection. My husband enjoyed the kama toro and truffle hamachi so much that he had to order them again. The truffle hamachi had just the right amount of truffle and I'd definitely recommend that this is a must have. Overall, service was outstanding. Midori, the manager, welcomed us and checked in on us often. She gave us great suggestions on sake and also helped us with eating the sashimi in the best order to enjoy to the fullest. Our server was also great and gave us great recommendations. Chef Ivan is highly skilled having worked at multiple well known San Diego sushi spots. We're glad that he's at Harmony Cuisine 2B1! The restaurant is fairly small and can get busy, so I'd recommend making a reservation. Sitting at the bar is our preference, but they do have some small tables as well. The parking lot is very busy given there are a number of restaurants in that plaza. We haven't had luck finding a spot and typically park on a side street and walk over. I'd recommend giving yourself some time for parking. We've had excellent experiences here and cannot wait to come back!

I've been here twice and on a Friday night for dinner, that parking lot was simply insufficient and I was left parking on the street pretty far away. From both experiences, my takeaway was that the sushi rolls are unremarkable and overpriced but picking sushi/nigiri pieces was worth it, particularly the Hokkaido scallop and the hamachi belly. Cost can add up quickly like that too though. For other share plates and apps, I liked the mixed tempura and the filled blossoms. Service was attentive and friendly and is a great place for a nice meal.

I've dined here multiple times and each time it's been amazing. The sushi quality is one of the best in San Diego, and their selection of sake is great. They have Dassai 23, which is my favorite Sake. I've sat at both the bar and tables, and each time my service has been amazing from both the servers and the sushi chefs. If my friends are ever in town, I always make sure to bring them to harmony!

We were in the area and wanted sushi so we stopped in. It has a U shaped sushi bar and then tables to the left. We were greeted right away and decided to sit at the sushi bar. It was a weekday around 1:30 and it wasn't busy. The sushi chef and server were both very nice and the food was good too. We ordered the following: Tempura battered squash blossom- yummy! Nice light batter. Chef's large sashimi platter- very fresh fish and super tasty. Sushi roll with salmon- can't remember the name but it was very good. 2 pieces of Japanese uni- really yummy. 2 pieces of salmon roe (ikura)- we always have this for "dessert". Overall it was a bit pricy but again, fresh and tasty! We would return!

Putting chopsticks here for reference on salmon piece not cutting into proper portion. More is not always better
Kim L.

Fish quality is decent but we were disappointed in the execution of the rice and fish preparation. Sushi rice should not fall apart and over-seasoned. Fish for sushi should never be too big to fit in one bite and should relatively match the size of the rice. Lastly, our takowasa dish still had large chunks of octopus tentacles connected in one giant piece rather than cutting them up into manageable bite size. We had to ask the chef to re-cut them as sushi restaurants don't usually provide knives (rightly so). Ambiance and service was good. We had high hopes for this place based on yelp reviews but sadly we won't be returning and will dine elsewhere in San Diego, like Moment Sushi, Hidden Fish, or Ken's Workshop for similar pricing and service but more experienced chefs who knows the principles in the art of sushi making.

Went on a Wednesday, great lunch place! Great service from the sushi chef and the server. Nice and quiet, but got pretty crowded towards the end of our meal. Would love to try their lunch combo next time we come, or maybe try their omakase during dinner time.

First time visit here. The sashimi and sushi were fresh and delicious. We also ordered a spicy tuna scallop roll which tasted fine but it wasn't spicy enough for us and wasn't the kind of roll we expected. Overall, we enjoyed the food and the service was good.

Lunch menu! I had the albacore and yellowtail.
Kimberly L.

We went here for lunch yesterday. We arrived around noon, therefore we had to park far away but totally worth it! The sushi was amazing! The fish was extremely fresh. We will definitely be back again!

All you can eat?

No. Omakase, so about 8 courses?

What kind of vibe is this restaurant? Is it okay to bring toddler?

Family friendly. Small space with majority being a sushi bar. However there are a handful of tables.

Do they serve the same menu at lunch as they do for dinner?

Yes, except Omakase course. Due to limited # of chef at bar, all orders are taken by server and cannot be served one on one base at bar.

Came here with their revamped fine dining Korean Asian Fusion menu during Happy Hour and this place…read morewas absolutely amazing!!!!! First off, there is free parking available, just circle around the building until you see a garage entrance for retail parking. Two hours for free! Let me first explain the aesthetics of this place. Clean and modern with mid century feel accented with greenery throughout. Please note that they won't seat you until most of your party is present. We came here for Happy Hour which was from 4-6pm from Tuesday to Sunday! This is fantastic that HH includes the weekend!!!! To start, got a wellness shot which had a meld of juices and ginger. A great drink to ready your palate. For cocktails, I tried the Suika Spritz, which was refreshing! The Absolutely Pho-nomenal definitely tasted like cold Pho broth but spiked. It wasn't my favorite drink, but glad I tried it nonetheless. Of course we ordered the $1 oysters, and ordered all three - Baja, Pacific Northwest, & East Coast. It came with some Asian fusion sauces to dress our oysters. My fave was the Baja as these were the freshest! All three were smooth and non briny. On the HH menu we also tried - Bulgogi Birria Vampiro - Tender meat with bulgogi seasoned beef on top of a tostada. Really liked the meld of the two cultures in this dish. Duck Liver Mousse - Comes with rustic bread & crème fraiche. Very duck forward. I liked this because it was rich with flavor. Stone Crab Taco - Loved the nod to Loganisa in this taco! This was by far, my favorite protein dish on the HH menu!!!! Regular Menu - Mango Nasturium Kimchi Salad - I absolutely loved this vibrant and fresh dish!!!! I had to go back for second and thirds! Shishito Peppers with Bonito Flakes - This was definitely a fun and flavorful dish with lots of umami. Dessert - Hotteok and Vanilla Ice Cream - this was my favorite dessert! The pancakes were flaky and delicious!! Bonbunja Tiramisu - Beware! This has a strong coffee taste. It reminded of the strength and flavor profile of a Vietnamese coffee. I can't believe it's not cheesecake - Definitely a mix of a brûlée but with a cheesecake flavor. Confusing but works lol. We met the executive chef, Kyler, who explained and served some of dishes we ordered. The entire staff was so accommodating and even reminded us if we needed our parking validated! Our water never ran empty and our dishes were promptly taken away as we finished. Definitely a place to visit during HH since they offer amazing food and cocktail choices.

My wife and I went here for dinner expecting to eat great food based on all the high reviews and…read morethe upscale price, but we were instead left with disappointment and a big fat check with an unexpected automatic 20% gratuity fee for 2 people. Food: We got several appetizers and 3 entrees. We had the Mango Kimchi Salad, Bulgogi Birria Vampiro, Silkworm Pupa Tacos, Doenjang Risotto, Miso Lingcod, and Braised Short Rib. We got plenty of dishes to try, but unfortunately they were either simply mediocre or had an issue. The Kimchi Salad was too strong in spice and the mangos were unripe and hard. The Birria Vampiro was simply mediocre and sort of bland. Silkworm Pupa Tacos were again sort of bland. The Risotto was undercooked and crunchy instead of 'al dente'. Miso Lingcod had a very fishy taste and not much else. And the Braised Short Rib was too salty. Drinks: I got the Choi's cocktail and my wife got the Gangnam Style espresso martini. Both drinks were very well made and tasted great! Service: Unlike the food, the service was great! From the person who confirmed our reservation, to the staff at the front of the door, and to our server, they were all extremely friendly. We were celebrating an occasion, which we made known when booking and upon sitting down we got a handwritten card with a congratulations note. That was very unexpected and awesome! We also got a couple of complimentary cocktail shots from the bartender while we were there. Overall, I would say the staff and service was extremely good. Parking: The area of San Diego that Choi's is located is unfortunately very bad. Overfilled with homeless, drug addicts, and just plain shady looking people who roam the streets. I was overjoyed when I found out that they give you two hours of complimentary parking in a safe place! So to summarize: The staff that provide great service, the bartender with awesome drinks, and the free parking in a safe place simply do not make up for the main reason we were there: the food. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 was because of all these other factors besides the food. Before paying the bill and leaving, we did let the server know about the issues we found with the food in a very friendly and constructive way. She was thankful for the honesty and the feedback.

It's in a plaza with a ton of other restaurants, so just know parking can be a little chaotic. I went on a Wednesday around 5:30PM and still found parking pretty easily, but I can see it getting rough later. The place itself is on the smaller side, but they fit a good amount of seating. Every time I pass by it never looks super packed and even this time it wasn't that busy. I ordered ahead through their website, which was smooth, but when I walked in the cashier didn't see my order at first. I showed her my confirmation text, she checked with the kitchen and let me know it was still being prepared. She was super kind about it, so no issue there. I sat and waited and it ended up being around 20 minutes, which felt a little long for just two items, but not terrible. There was also a moment where a group came in and no one was at the front, so they asked me how ordering worked. We both just assumed you scan the QR code at the table and order from there, which probably explains why there isn't always someone upfront. A little confusing at first, but it is what it is. Once my food was ready, it was packaged really nicely. I had about a 25 minute drive home and everything stayed warm, which is honestly the best part about good takeout. Popcorn Chicken ($9.50) This might be the best popcorn chicken I've had in San Diego, especially for the price. You get big pieces, like actual chicken, not just fried coating. The seasoning is kind of addicting, a little sweet, a little salty, savory, with a slight kick. Super fragrant too with green onions mixed in. The sauce tasted like a cilantro jalapeño crema, almost taco vibes, which sounds random but it worked really well. And the shredded cabbage at the bottom soaking up all that extra seasoning... so good. Only thing is I wish some pieces were a little crispier and more golden, but still really really solid. Spicy Shrimp Wontons (8 pcs, $10.80) These come in a soy, vinegar, chili oil sauce that's super balanced. The wontons themselves are a bit smaller and don't have a ton of filling, so price-wise it's a little eh. But the sauce carries. After sitting in it during my drive home, I thought it would be too salty, but it actually soaked in perfectly. The color got darker and richer and the flavor still stayed balanced. Overall, this place is honestly solid. The menu isn't huge, more focused on noodles, dumplings, and apps, but based on what I had, they do it well. I'll definitely be back to try more, but that popcorn chicken alone is already enough reason to come back.

Parking is limited in the plaza shared with other restaurants so arrive early to snatch one.

They notified us multiple times of the automatic 20% tip that's shared with all staff which I'm honestly fine with. We got the Pig Ears Salad (recommended by the bartender, the best, most surprising dish, 100%, will never find this anywhere else in the world), eggplants (they were still good and plentiful but not our favorite), and the dry aged duck ($$$$, the confit duck made me uncontrollably laughed and gnaw on the bones praying to extend the moment). I will always get the pig ear, and I was initially skeptical of the price of the duck but left feeling it was worth it. We left with leftovers and it's a good amount of food. The highball was interesting and we recommend it! Other than that had the wings, house made egg noodles, and their smoked dry age duck. Honestly I was kind of surprised that the duck was my least favorite. Not sure it warranted the price but with that said the chicken wings and the egg noodles were phenomenal! Highly recommend. They also had a spin on flan that tasted more crème brûlée-y. Very tasty way to end the night. Definitely get reservations as this place got busy quickly.
