Proprietors Sue and Ray Johnson received a slew of…read moreboxes from a cross-country move via USPS, packed a storage unit for me, then delivered everything to my new place in Philly, all for a ridiculously low price. That would have been enough to get them to my first level of peripatetic sainthood, hands down. But it gets better. A couple of years later, I stored my things at EZ Storage again in preparation for my next cross-country move (again with free pickup, thanks to a sweet student-moving deal). I'd already landed on the west coast when the moving plans changed from driving to shipping. Ray built a pallet, packed my things onto it, and helped with shipping logistics, for a very very nominal charge. Who does that?! Would I still have all my things without Ray and Sue? Probably... but maybe not. Would I be able to think about moving without flinching? Not a chance. Would I have such faith in humanity and the kindness of relative strangers? A resounding no! In short - Ray and Sue are local treasures. I don't think I've ever said that before about anyone, but they deserve it, and then some. I can't recommend EZ Storage highly enough.

I made numerous calls to that location's manager, with no response. Called PS customer service about 4 times. They were no help at all. Just tonight I was luck to find one unlocked door after wasting a whole lot of time again trying to get in, so my stuff is now secure, with no help from ANYONE at public storage. Due to this experience, I will be taking everything stored there home. I would rather do that than pay this establishment any more money! Which by the way has gone up over $200 in the less than 2 years I have had the space. Look elsewhere for your storage needs.

I needed a storage unit for a few months for some garage kept items, like a snowblower, a pair of…read moretires, a few empty coolers etc. I got a mailer at home with all the wonderful features included: a reasonable monthly fee, no long term contract, video surveillance, free move-in truck, month to month. The place is spotless and new. Front desk personal were helpful, gave me the tour and quoted me a monthly price. As I'm about to sign, they tell me that my first payment is due now and its about 3 times the monthly price. SCREECH to a halt. Pro-rated rest of this month, second month, service fee. What about the free-month? That's the third month. What? Where does it say that? Nowhere exactly, but that's included deep in the "some restrictions may apply" language around page 17 on the the little credit card pad. I say, "Never Mind". They say, "What?" Yup, cancel it. Call it off. They offer to give me second month free. I repeat, they offer it. I agree, so now we're down to pro-rated one month and next month free, plus service fee. I put my stuff on a cart, take it up the elevator, load. Low and behold, I get an e-mail survey and respond that I think their "one month free" deal is deceptive. I get a personal call from a director level person who advises me that I'm not welcome. After my "free month", come get your stuff. I call to come get my stuff and they inform me that access by drive-in is limited to certain hours on Saturday and that elevator is not useable. (This is a brand new facility) They don't actually say this, they say something like, "Foot Traffic Only", which I asked them to clarify. So, I said, I have to bring my snowblower down three flights of stairs? They got mad when I said I'd put it on one of their carts and push it down the three flights unattended. It will be much easier to roll the tires down. I hung up on them. Going to get my stuff a week early. I can safely say that their biggest selling point is "We won't raise your prices every 3 months like Public Storage". PS: I wonder how many patrons fell down on their super slick drive-in coating. Maybe that's what they're repairing. I don't know.

I finally found my unit after a half an hour and was surprised that it was in a much older almost hidden area because all of the other areas were bright and new! I don't understand why a new customer would be placed in this area and specifically without any directions or instructions on how to find the unit. And their app .... smh. The only thing it was useful for was showing me my gate code because everything else was a fail. I left a few larger items overnight and returned the next morning to finish the job. At that point, I discovered that several items were missing, including a mirror, two dressers, and an exercise bike. What makes this situation even more concerning is that the night before, I had actually made an arrangement with the facility employee to purchase the two dressers and mirror for $100. Despite that agreement, those items were gone when I returned. To be clear, I regularly purchase storage units and complete multiple auctions a month, and I have never had an issue like this before. I always understand the risks involved in buying storage units, but this situation raises serious concerns about access and handling of contents after auction purchase. I reported the issue, but the experience has left me feeling uneasy about the security and oversight at this facility. I hope management takes situations like this seriously and improves transparency going forward for future buyers.
