Such is the case here - over the phone I was told to come by and show them my busted up iPad and was assured that whatever the issue was, they could fix it. Fast forward an hour later, (it literally took me 15 minutes of driving and walking back and forth on the street to find this place as it's basically a rented room at the top of a staircase of a commercial building), I was informed that my iPad is dead and that it should be used as a coaster or paperweight. Look, I understand a car mechanic cannot accurately diagnose a vehicle electronically or telephonically as accurately as they can if they can see the car in person and of course when it comes to an iPad with a cracked screen and water damage that won't power on, it would be ideal for a repair person to physically inspect it before diagnosing the issue so please don't tell me over the phone that you can fix something and then smugly state that it's beyond repair. Also, I appreciate that you want to keep your overhead low but FFS don't do business out of what is basically a bedroom with shit everywhere and a dog sitting around begging to be anywhere but there. This place is super inconvenient to get to with a super unprofessional "store" and super creepy vibes. All said, I disagreed with Sheldon's diagnosis so decided to call A to Z Wireless (which coincidentally enough is right down the street in an easy to see and enter store) and while no promises were made over the phone or in person, the owner fixed my iPad and is now working just as it did before I dropped it in a jacuzzi. So yeah...don't recommend this dude at all but highly recommend A to Z. Enjoy.

On multiple occasions he's called me from random #'s asking me to Zelle him some cash because he can't afford to get his phone fixed, so that's why when my phone charging port failed I knew exactly where to go. I've been on Android & Samsung for 13 years never having had an issue other than loss. So when my S24 Ultra USB-C Port got loose I was thinking of just upgrading, but having lost some key features when they released the S25 Ultra I decided to repair. Phone was at 15% and was taking 3 hrs to charge via wireless and I needed my phone for work the next day (4PM thursday). I called ahead and they said $125 without knowing what model/brand. Showed up and James quoted hour and a half which was perfect as they closed at 7 and had the port in stock. They can sure fix the easy stuff, but when I asked about cases and accessories they pretty much only carry Iphone and the latest models from other brands S24 Ultra is a flagship phone. Service was great, but my screen protector was bubbled from when they removed the glass. Not a big deal, but I wish they had my brand/model for a replacement. While i was browsing I heard James interacting with another customer which gave me pause as he didn't seem to have any sympathy for them wanting to save an old phone which had pictures that were priceless to them. Loss of a star for that. Haven't had any issues since and I'll likely return if I ever have need for repair not through my insurance.

I was initially relieved that Apple will still service it. However, the usual Apple $99 battery replacement fee only applies to batteries below 80%, even if it's a third-party (after market) battery! Otherwise it will cost $349 at Apple, so I just decided to upgrade my watch to the newest version (Apple Watch 10 as of the time of this writing). It really sucks that iSquad's cheap battery led me to having to get a new Apple Watch sooner than I wanted to (and having to give up the O2sat sensor feature! (No longer available on newer Apple Watches). You get what you pay for!

Went to him for a phone battery replacement. He is local, and honestly, he has low prices ($45 +tax for the battery replacement). He told me that his battery is not original product (ie, not Apple battery). That's fine, I just needed my phone to hold a charge. The new battery he replaced with was WORSE than my old battery. It went from 94% to 70% in less than an hour! I went back the next day, and his mannerism was abysmal. He told me, that's a new battery, must be a problem with your phone processor. I didn't want to risk trying another "un-original" phone battery through him and asked for a refund instead. He begrudgingly refunded $40, minus $5 for service fee. As I was leaving his kiosk, he blurted, "And don't come back." Like why? It was unwarranted, he could've just said nothing and let it be. Of course I wouldn't come back after such an experience. So I left, not only with a faulty battery, but also upset by his rude mannerism. The guy was angry at me for his own faulty product. And then gave me attitude for it... ;( Anyways, lesson learned to not go cheap. Went to Apple Store later that day, they ran diagnostics. Everything is fine with my phone. New battery ($69), and surprise surprise. It works just fine! I would advise anyone to avoid this place -- it's not worth the risk, nor the time and frustration, and overall horrendous customer service.

I had a fall and broke my Samsung Galaxy S5 (and my wrist). The cracked screen was on par with the broken bone as for the trauma level.....I looked at options for a fix for about a month before pulling the trigger today with Grant at iSquad Repair. Wish I hadn't waited so long. It was the most seamless and pleasant experience -- ever. The young man is a "soul" fixer.....he was so conscientious and careful -- like a surgeon in the O-R. I highly, highly recommend this place. And although I didn't have a coupon, a woman came in with an iPad while I was there with a Groupon coupon. I'm going to go back soon and get a piece of tempered glass to go over the glass screen because in the case of the fall, the case was on the other side leaving the glass vulnerable. I happened to be in the area and saw this little cell phone repair shop. Its right next to Captain Kenos on the 101. Taylor was able to diagnose my iPhone X problem fast and fix it quickly. I needed a new battery it turns out because I could not get it to turn on no matter what cable I used. I tried to make an appointment at Apple but they are so backed up it would take weeks...they even wanted a couple hundred bucks??? The battery replacement solved all my problems and 15 minutes later and -$80 I was out the door and back to work. Thank you again. read more

I have used this I Squad location 3 times now for my broken IPhone screen repairs. (Yes, I seem to drop my phone a lot). They are very close to Cap'n Kenos on 101 and are basically in a little hut right off the highway. I did make a few phone calls first to other places and I Squad had the best price and by far the quickest turnaround time. It took them anywhere between 20 and 60 minutes to have my phone repaired and looking like brand new. The people are always friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend I Squad in Encinitas. read more

I have an IPhone 5 that had a very cracked screen. I went to ISquad and GRANT helped me to get the screen repaired quickly and professionally. I have never met a service technician quite like GRANT. Taylor does a great job of diagnosing and recommending the proper repair at very reasonable cost. Brought our iPhone X in because the screen was bulging from the case, and it was determined that the cause was most likely the battery. Terrific fast repair and although we thought the screen may need to be replaced as well, Taylor determined replacing the battery should be all that is needed. Cost? Well below Apple Store. These guys are FANTASTIC!!! I shattered the screen on my Samsung Mega and they not only had the parts on hand but were able to fix my screen in about an hour. Unfortunately the replacement screen was faulty (OH NO!) but I called and told them what the problem was and they very cheerfully took care of the problem and even repaired my headphone jack without charging me any extra. I am personally very impressed with the iSquad Repair Service. I went to Laptops Plus in Carlsbad to fix my phone and their service is mediocre. They charged $95 dollars and it took them a couple hours. I went to iSquad Repair for my first time, and I paid $85 for only 30 minutes. Very impressed with the quality and quickness of this business. Definitely a place to go to if you're looking for a quick and reliable iPhone place. read more

I needed to get both the front and back screens on my iPhone 4s fixed in order to trade it in at Verizon for credit towards a new phone. These guys are super cool, not pushy whatsoever and completely know what they are doing. They fixed both screens within 25 minutes. The phone looked completely brand new and I was able to trade it in full value no problems whatsoever. Definitely go here if you need to get a repair. read more

Great service and capable repair with OEM parts. They jumped on my repair as soon as I dropped off my iPhone 5S. Corey was very friendly and let me WATCH without charging extra! Had a problem with protective glass screen I had them put on for me and no problem, they were happy to re-do and make good. Highly recommended. Was an awesome day. Have had a broken phone that Apple would not repair and wanted 300 dollars. Had a broken iPad for ever and brought that along and in an hour after showing up the crew was so easy to talk to and very knowledgable about the product and they fixed both in an hour and it was saved me Time and Money. Recently had front and back screen of an IPhone fixed as well as an IPad. Grant in the Encinitas location is fast, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. A much more pleasant experience than standing in line at the Apple store. I highly recommend trying them first, their pricing is good and the service is excellent! read more

He helped with a logic board repair on an M2 MacBook air, and the laptop is working great. He was also able and willing to try a completely different board repair project I had available that most shops wouldn't even be willing to look at. It's truly a breath of fresh air to work with someone who appreciates electronics and is able to save parts that otherwise tend to end up as e-waste. Considering Apple and other big tech companies only seem to push people to spend as much money as possible replacing full assemblies + endless parts etc (that are all glued together) this is why the right to repair is so important and we 100% need shops like this to exist. After bringing it in, as he investigated, Sheldon explained what could happen inside the phone from water damage, which I appreciate when someone takes the time to teach the customer. He found (luckily) no water damage, and he took the time to further investigate, test out some options, to find potential causes. Cleaned out my charger port, and offered several things to try at home before trying something else. I was told if it still overheated, we could replace the screen (not likely a root cause but the next step if needed) and it was would discounted as I already paid for the other cleaning and gasket replacement. Luckily the issue is fixed and I'm happy he didn't push for the screen replacement if he truly didn't think it was needed!
