Just bought a pair of leopard mules and the lift came off so I came to get my shoe repaired
Renee B.

This shoe repair is owned by an old Italian man who learned his craft from Italy as a teenage boy. He spoke to us about how he learned his craft and how he now has this shoe store. You don't see shoe repair as often as you would need them. But it's great to know that there is someone who still has this gift of shoe repair when you can get a good pair of shoes fixed instead of having to go out and buy another pair. He is located on Islip Avenue down by Islip train station and Pathmark. He has a thick accent so must listen carefully. Great sense of humor and does excellent work, he says now that my shoes fixed I can dance all night and I won't swing to the left or to the right because my shoes are level. So if you're ever in the neighborhood of Islip Terrace and you need your shoes fixed it is diagonally across from Islip train station.

Horrible job... and I'm one of those ppl that gives the benefit of the doubt... this is AFTER I picked them up

An art long forgotten. Have had boot zippers replaced, heels put on, soles redone. Craftmanship excellent, never disappointed!

The man behind the counter was friendly at first and told me he could re-glue the soles and patch two damaged areas. The boots aren't leather -- they're durable snow-boot material -- but I was told they could be repaired. The cost was $80, which felt high, but Nike no longer makes these ACG boots so I agreed. I was given a Saturday or Monday pickup date and chose Saturday. Unexpectedly I had to work, so I sent a friend to pick them up. When she got there, the boots looked terrible -- sloppy black glue everywhere and no real patchwork done. She went back inside to ask if they needed more time, and the employee was rude and nasty to her. A few days later I returned myself. The same man immediately began yelling, saying the boots were old and that was the best he could do. When I reminded him he promised patching, cleaning, and re-gluing, he cut me off and kept shouting. I pointed out the soles were still dirty and the repair was poorly done -- he slammed my boots on the counter and told me to leave. I came back later hoping to calmly resolve it. I asked for either a proper repair or a refund. He laughed in my face and said, "I don't refund money." He did take the boots to the back and attempted to fix them again, but the quality was still far below what was promised. He eventually apologized for his behavior, but the work remained subpar. Poor craftsmanship, worse customer service, and completely unprofessional behavior. Save your money and go somewhere else

I hate being a Karen...I usually don't, but this time I have to, so I came here. I had three pairs of sneakers. The guy said he could do the job. I asked, "Are you sure?" He said he'd be able to take the yellow out and that he has a special machine and all this nonsense. Then he made me pay him upfront. I said, "Sure, no problem." I dropped off the shoes there on Wednesday. I went back on Saturday to pick them up, and they looked exactly the same. Before I even got to say anything, he started complaining about how he couldn't do this and couldn't do that. I said, "Okay, understandable. Do I get half of my money back?" He said, "No, you don't get anything back." One of the sneakers also he said he can glue the back part then he said he might have an issue. I said right let me get these sneakers back then he's like no no I got it. If you can't do it properly after I say, let me take the sneakers back. Don't tell me you can do it and then not even do it. It was like A quick pay upfront money grab for him !!! So why would you tell me you were able to do the job if you couldn't do it? Why would you make me pay upfront? One of the sneakers has yellow inside the bubble. He told me he didn't have to go inside the sneaker to get rid of it, that he has a special machine. Complete nonsense. Then you want to pocket the money I paid in advance and not give me anything back--not even five dollars, not even a penny. I'm pissed!!! It feels like he asked me for money upfront, cause he know he couldn't do the job. I'm not coming here ever again ever.!!!! PS he didn't even clean them ! Plus, he's expensive like WTF $70 for what?!!! you didn't do anything. If you did the job correctly, I wouldn't complain about the price, but you did NOTHING !!!

I went the other day to see about having zipper put on a bag. I figured maybe $5-10, it's just a zipper. $40!!!!!! Are you out of your mind? "Well, we had to sew this and that" no you absolutely didn't. Nothing regarding snapping a zipper onto the tracks requires sewing. The bag wasn't ripped, the tracks weren't torn from the bag. It's bad enough you're scamming people with these prices but you're doing terrible work at these rates too. And you should contact people with a quote before hand. Doing it and then quoting is just stealing because now they have to pay up to get their property bag. Thankfully my bag was cheap and I didn't care about it. I bought a brand new (better as it turns out) bag for $8 plus a whole package of zippers for $1.25 and a package of zipper pulls for $0.75. I will not only never use this place again, my parents refuse to them, my sister already said she'd never use, and I'll be sure to let others know not to bother. I'm all for supporting local businesses but not when you're stealing hand over fist like this.
