Vibram replacement soles. Had the option to choose a harder rubber this time for use on the streets!
    DJ R.

Ray's does it again! Another fine job re-soling my boots. This time I asked for a harder Vibram rubber that would last longer on the streets than the original soft hiking sole (and ones which I also specified in their first replacement.) Well... They came back built as tough as can be! And the craftsmanship is top-notch, put together with great attention as not to damage these old favorites. Just to note... The Vibram's aren't exactly like the original Timberlands. They, the originals, had a more refined look having a thinner sole. But for a replacement? I truly believe it's the best you can get. In addition, I like to take the shine off the shoe polished rubber, and I like to get back the look of showing the leather layer in its profile. So achieving that took a little extra work on my part to lightly sand them to taste!

I went the other day to see about having zipper put on a bag. I figured maybe $5-10, it's just a zipper. $40!!!!!! Are you out of your mind? "Well, we had to sew this and that" no you absolutely didn't. Nothing regarding snapping a zipper onto the tracks requires sewing. The bag wasn't ripped, the tracks weren't torn from the bag. It's bad enough you're scamming people with these prices but you're doing terrible work at these rates too. And you should contact people with a quote before hand. Doing it and then quoting is just stealing because now they have to pay up to get their property bag. Thankfully my bag was cheap and I didn't care about it. I bought a brand new (better as it turns out) bag for $8 plus a whole package of zippers for $1.25 and a package of zipper pulls for $0.75. I will not only never use this place again, my parents refuse to them, my sister already said she'd never use, and I'll be sure to let others know not to bother. I'm all for supporting local businesses but not when you're stealing hand over fist like this.

Buckles are a pain, so I wanted a snap closure. The man there said he'd remove the buckle but can't put it back on the strap (a very simple thing that I ended up doing at home) and to install a snap is $40 per shoe, $80 for the pair, with no buckle (even though the buckle came with the shoe so he'd be taking it off and not putting it back on). I knew I was going to be overcharged but $80 for two snaps?? His overall demeanor was that he just couldn't be bothered with me and he seemed impatient at me for asking. So I went left and ordered a $12 snap kit on Amazon, and did the repair myself in about 15 minutes because I was so nervous. If I did it again, I could now do this in under five minutes. I wanted to pay a cobbler a reasonable price because I was nervous about poking a snap rivet hole in the side of my new shoe, but I did it and it's awesome. The reason for this bad review is that I just felt like the man was rude and irritated at me for even asking. Customers should feel welcome, but I felt like he didn't want me there so he gave a ridiculous price estimate.
