Came into today for a burger and yap session! Our server Eric was on it!! Food was sent out quickly, exactly how we ordered it. Our margaritas never ran dry. Eric was friendly and took the time to note our modifications to our order, like I said, everything came out exactly how we ordered it. Despite the football game being on the the place being packed, he made sure to check on us and made sure everything was to our liking. Definitely recommend this location. We had such a great dinner at Islands Restaurant in Riverside. On the recommendation of our amazing waiter, Eric (seriously 10/10 service), we ordered the Beach Bowl and sliders, and both were absolute hits. The Beach Bowl was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, and the sliders were juicy, satisfying, and ideal for sharing (or not ). Eric made the whole experience. He was super friendly, attentive without hovering, and spot-on with his suggestions. You can tell when someone genuinely cares about your experience, and he absolutely did. Islands is always consistent and the meat quality is always very good. The burgers are very very good. They're lean and they cook them the way you want. The chicken is legitimate chicken it's not frozen, weird rubbery stuff you get a lot. The secret on the menu is the soup. It is absolutely wonderful. The chicken tortilla soup is one of my favorite things on the menu. Also the northshore tacos are great and healthy. The salads are also very good... The chop chop is my favorite. Great portions, great taste, great service. I have seen these chains everywhere but have never actually tried it until today. The aesthetic inside is so cool and the ambience makes you feel like you are at an actual island. Great place for chatting, watching the baseball game, or just hanging out. Food was incredible, they had many gluten free options which really helped me make a decision. I ordered a lettuce wrapped BLT, they also have gluten free buns if necessary. The BLT was crispy, fresh and delicious. The fries were great but a little salty! Overall I had a 10/10 experience. We had two amazing servers that got everything g just perfect. I'm deeply disappointed to write this, as Islands used to be one of my favorite places growing up I've loved the cheddar fries since I was a kid. But during a recent pickup order at the Riverside location, I had a very upsetting experience. Even though I had already paid online, I was treated with suspicion the moment I walked in. Instead of checking my order or name, I was met with uncomfortable assumptions and made to feel as if I hadn't paid. It felt like racial profiling, and I was embarrassed in front of others for no reason. The food was just as good as I remembered, but the experience made it hard to enjoy. Sadly, it no longer feels worth it when the service makes you feel unwelcome. I truly hope the staff and management take this as an opportunity to reflect and provide proper training to prevent others from going through something similar. read more

Very loud and cold but ok even the bathroom was a mess but I was still ok until all the servers kept looking at us and not coming over. We smiled hoping someone would come over but no. This place is always popular for a Friday night out. Used to come here to watch the game in the bar area where they'd turn the volume up and everyone is hooting and hollering munching on some chips and salsa. It still has that great atmosphere. I like the new chairs they're much more comfortable. Ordered the sliders and it's just right when you want to share.. or even when you don't. The soft pillowy tops are nicely toasted to hold all the caramelized onions and seared beef patty. Served with the right amount of pickles and crispy onion strings to form that perfect chomp with texture. Service is always great and has those laid back Hawaiian vibes throughout the restaurant. Good lord in heaven that burger was good! I usually only take pictures and rate the Coke at restaurants, but this time I want to point out how delicious the burger was; crispy on the edges and tender and juicy in the middle. The Coke wasn't THAT carbonated but it wasn't missing its classic taste. Ever since I was a little kid, I've always loved the interior island vibe and the Surfing channels they play on the TV. Bad service...The server mixed up our drink orders but didn't tell us what they were so we didn't know until we drank them and she got one drink order completely wrong. She also got my food order completely wrong. When it was brought out by another employee and I let them know it was the wrong item, there was no apology, he just tried to get me to take the incorrect item, which I didn't want. The server never acknowledged what happened or apologized. They didn't seem to care and never really checked on us once we got our food. read more

Islands has very good burgers, and I also really like their fish tacos. However, I recommend that you avoid their "signature" cocktails at all costs. They are pre-made concoctions, and most are pretty nasty. I recently ordered the Big Island Iced Tea and it was just disgusting! Very cheap liquor especially the tequila. The other pre-mades tend to be either really weak or super sugary. The service at islands has always been excellent and their happy hour is pretty good (if you avoid the aforementioned cocktails). read more
