Something seems to have changed. Boats contain lots more deep fried spring rolls or Rangoon and less and less sushi. When sushi does float past it is lower quality than before, way less fish and more vegetables, and many times falling apart. Menu also smaller than before. Went there today. Thought it would be fun .. it was kinda dumpy. Hardly any food on the boats, and a few that we did take off the boats, smelled rotten. We ordered a specialty roll, it was just ok. It didnt taste fresh, even tho they made it right then. Some of the workers didnt have gloves on, and they were handling the food ... gross! Awesome. Even after the reviews I was skeptical. Sushi floats by in boats. You order rolls and half go to you and half in the boats. So the boats reflect what is being ordered. Lots of deserts also. My favorite was the krabby Patti roll. read more

Fun little sushi spot, but I'm confounded by all the cream cheese. If you feel that cream cheese on sushi should be the exception and not the rule, then their sushi boats might not be for you. I came here for dinner at about 7:30pm for the all you can eat sushi, and had to wait about an hour to be seated at the main sushi bar oval table. The dining experience for all you can eat is fun, and it makes the $20 ayce price worth it because there's constantly new rolls going around for you to choose from, and if you want a certain roll made for you the sushi chef will do so without extra charge. It's a great deal all around. Only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is the quality of the sushi compared to other sushi in town. This place is amazing! All the rolls were outstanding! I especially enjoyed the mt Fuji roll. The Monday date nights are priced perfectly and although it is a bit more expensive, you are paying for the wonderful fresh quality. Even the egg rolls were awesome! I recommend coming here on a quieter night if you would like to tinker around with food choices as it takes a while for the chefs to get around to you (makes sense!). My only "complaints" are that we had our drinks siting near empty a few times and I think they should list more rolls (perhaps the basics, too) for novices to pick up on! :) amazing place and we'll be back more than we should mention!! Laid back atmosphere with all you can eat sushi for $20. Sushi boats float by you with a variety to choose from or order a half roll from the menu. Seaweed salad & potstickers also available. I can't really rate the food here because we didn't even get a chance to eat it. When we came the host asked if we were on a list and we said no. He then said the wait would be about an hour and a half. Another waitress came by and said it'd be an hour. A different customer asked if they took reservations and he said no. I heard the sushi here is good but do they really expect people to wait an hour to eat? He took down our number but then we decided to go to TJs instead. After eating at TJs, and about an hour driving on the road home we finally get a call from Island. Seriously, you mean that your "hour" wait is actually 3 hours? Thank God we didn't end up staying there. I guess it'd be fine if you want to sit at the bar and get drunk off your butt before eating, but for normal people who don't want to get drunk I would say unless they put gold chips in your sushi its not worth waiting 3 hours to eat. We might try and eat there again, granted it sounds like we'd have to go there at like 2pm in order to eat for dinner, but people keep raving about this place. We have been routine diners for months. Loved the atmosphere, food and staff. Over past few months prices have gradually increased and now at $20. Ok we can live with that because great food and staff. Recently they pulled all the goodies of the buffet like egg rolls, deep fried Oreos, fried wantons with cheese and cheesecake....now all that stuff is ala carte on top of you dinner and drinks. Price point and lack of variety has pushed from a solid 4 stars down to a three and almost a two. We won't be back unless the variety of goodies return to the boats. read more

We arrived shorty after they opened at 11am. There was only two others already eating when we arrived. It was very clean, tidy and the server was on top of our drinks lickity split. The sushi chef was amazing and she made a ton of tasty sushi. They have a limited menu but will improvise if asked. She also made us our own private tempura sushi handed to us over the cute floating boat buffet. The lunch buffet cost was $12.99 for lunch, and my hubby and I agreed that it was worth it. We left full, and very satisfied. We are not sushi experts but enjoyed all the sushi we tried. It was a pleasant experience and everything was super fresh, prepared right in front of you. Not just sushi goes around but other dishes such as fruit plates, deserts, won tons and more. Why it didn't get 5 stars...they have just changed ownership and it felt cold, and a bit sterile. The floating boat buffet is adorable, and it is fun to sit at it and pick your choices of sushi and such. I feel they should explore ambiance options around the cute Japanese boats, and create a real theme around them. Music and all. Other than the atmosphere, it was awesome and we will go back for our next lunch date. By the time we left, there were not many seats left, so get there early if you are going for the lunch buffet. I am giving this one star because of the customer service. I have a crustacean (most seafood) allergy. However, I still absolutely love sushi. I can eat pretty much everything except for shrimp, lobster, and crab. Most sushi restaurants that I go to will gladly accommodate my allergy without any questions asked, and with a smile on their face. I have been to island sushi twice now and both times I went there and explained in a very non annoying way about this allergy, they all roll their eyes, treat me like I'm not welcome, one time they even announced it to everyone sitting around the sushi bar that the order was up for the "allergy guy", it was like it was purposely to embarrass me. Every time they have made me feel like it is such an extreme inconvenience to make sushi for someone with a seafood allergy. I have never experienced this at any other sushi restaurant in my life or even any other restaurant for that matter. It really is a shame because I think it would be a nice place to bring my friends and family. When I go out for dinner, I go for the fun experience. Not to be treated rudely, or like I'm some kind of outcast! read more

Service was extremely slow. Our sushi took forever to make. When we got our sushi, it was 4 small pieces of sushi. It's a BUFFET but they limited how much food we got. We're not cows or anything, but we were hungry! Four pieces of sushi every 20 minutes isn't gonna cut it!! We definitely did not get service and food quality equal to $16.99/person. Sushi makers were so short staffed that one of the sushi makers told us she would not take our order yet even though we were there first. Sushi makers and back room people were shouting across the whole dining room area. They were screaming "RICE!!! CHICKEN!!!! SHRIMP!!!!!". They were not calling, they were literally, shouting at the top of their heads. Sushi was low quality and white washed. Brat and cheddar cheese sushi? That's not sushi; that's American food. Boats were filled with poorly made food such as extremely low quality sushi, crab ragoons with a red sugary sauce, and extremely small portions of seaweed salad. NOT RETURNING. read more

Loved it. My only suggestion is to not make so many rolls with Cream cheese. Don't like cream cheese, in my sushi. Otherwise very good.
