Service wasn't above and beyond or outstanding in any way, but my relationship with Staples is very transactional. I get what I need and leave. It's open and bright in the store, and everything is neatly organized. I will definitely be back if I need more paper knowing this store opens early!

The remaining chain standing appears to be Staples which seems to be sprinkled throughout this metro area. Gayle and I just happened to walk by as we were walking from our Hilton Hotel to the nearby Royal Ontario Museum. We left with a package of rubber bands, a box of paper clips, and expanding file folder (no paperless in our house) and a cool LEGO Unicorn for one of our granddaughters. The store is nicely laid out, although actually finding what I was looking for was somewhat confusing as the analog selections were spread out in-between the digital offerings. I never did find the 2024 Brownline planner (made in Canada) that I was looking for, but I guess that's why ordering online helps. Our checkout was also unexpectedly slow as you never know what the customer ahead of you is up to.

I do love browsing fresh stationery, especially the pens although I have so many at home that are drying up. A lot of parallels to going out to buy food when you have stuff at home that needs to be eaten before it goes bad! I was looking for multicoloured in 1 pens to see if it could up my productivity just that little bit. They did carry them but not in the variety that I saw on the website. There were some pretty pastel ones that they didn't seem to have in store. The pricing seemed really reasonable - the same as the Amazon equivalents. In the pen aisle I did see that Bic now sells more eco-friendly pens that are made from recyclable plastic. When they caught my eye I thought they might have been made from paper or wood but we're not quite there yet. I remember back in the day you could try out pens at Grand & Toy. The main aisle with the pens didn't look like you could try them out which made sense since they were all inside of packaging. I did see that in the check-out line, there were individual pens for sale and there were signs that encouraged testing them out. The next aisle over was a Crayola smorgasbord. They have individual crayons for sale and you can pick your own colours and fill a tin with them! Really neat idea. Some other cool things that I saw around the store included some Raptors merch (Staples is the official "Working and Learning Company" of the Raptors. They also have a lot of gift cards available so if you're in a pinch to pick a gift up for someone, you can grab them here!

Brian very kindly helped me design a Memorial Card for my best friend of 64 years. I am so grateful for Brian's patience, kindness and recommendations (over the phone) to guide me through the design and printing process. He even attended to my job the next day when I went in to Staples and did a very fast and professional job for me. I definitely would recommend him to anyone needing printing or designing services in the future. Thank you so very much Brian. Giggs R.

They're a specialty store as the store name would suggest, they're selling everything from high quality pens, to markers, to booklets, and more. To my surprise I found the inky white gel pens I've been using for my colouring books, and bought 3 different coloured ones. They were well priced and I was so happy to support a local shop! Customer service here was also top notch, with very homey vibes, and friendly staff.

So, when I found myself early for a doctor's appointment, I "accidentally" took a detour that led me right here. For those planning a more deliberate trip, it's less than half a block north of College Ave, right off the Grace St stop on the 506 streetcar. The shop has a huge selection of fountain pens and fountain pen paraphernalia and a solid range of washi tape, pens and quality notepads, including Rhodia and some nice Japanese brands. My quest for Uni Jetstream pen refills and some Traveler's Notebook swag came up empty, which I'll chalk up to it being January, prime "sold-out-of-everything" season for anything planning related. Despite that, I didn't leave empty-handed. I picked up a Life Noble Note Section A5 grid notebook, (a new brand for me) and a beautiful Zebra Sarasa Clip 3-color pen. The prices were quite reasonable, even beating some I've seen on Amazon. I also scored some 2026 Midori monthly diary stickers from the closeout cart near the register, which felt like a real victory. I'll definitely be back in a few months to check for restocks. It's a great little spot with some quality finds.

Midoco, it's not underwear, it's a marker and unused. I don't care what your "policy" says, I returned it a day and a half later and this is how you treat your customers? Do yourself a favour and walk another few minutes West of the Midoco on Queen. Go to Above Ground, they're 100x better in terms of stock and prices. I wish I had gone there first too, would've saved myself a lot of hassle and bad feelings over one blue marker.

They rock numbered pages, are available in grid, graph, lined and blank, have stickers to help organize, have a table of contents page and feature high quality paper (though less impressive than Rhodia). Leuchtturm's website shows no international distributors outside Europe[1] and you can't even find a mention of Leuchtturm on Midoco's website. But none of this matters, because I am telling you: you can find these fine notebooks here. Get one. They also stock a wide array of other (lesser) notebooks, pens, craft paper, markers, art supplies for adults and children and creative gifts for the hard-to-shop-for in your life. If this store has a failing, it's the cramped layout. They have placed all the desireable items (including the Leuchtturms) within 12 feet of the cash register. There's always a gaggle of people near the entrance. Expect to find yourself apologizing and saying "excuse me" a lot when you visit. But also expect to find some cool stuff, and possibly spend way too long here. Obligatory Title Pun: It's OKEY, MI-DOKEY. (So lame, I know.) Menu Readability: I really don't care for rounded sans-serif ultra-modern lettering, and the Midoco wordmark is no exception. Need to mention: This store is superior to the Bloor street store. What this place teaches me about myself: I'm obsessed with notebooks. Help me, please. _____ [1] I hear they are distributed by Kikkerland in the U.S. I don't think this is the case in Canada or we would have seen more of these notebooks by now.
