This is the worst run Staples i have ever been to. Their print shop is a disaster. You'll wait in line for easily 30-45 minutes just to pick up an order you've already paid for and that is ready, because they are understaffed and also there's one disorganized line for everyone - whether you're just picking up an order or needing full design help that will take an hour or more. With just 1-2 people working. Add on top of that the constant beeping of equipment, no air conditioning, lack of products on the shelves.... actual disaster. read more

Even tho' I am writing this a month or so after the fact, Brian's attention to my job and his exemplary service is still top of mind for me. Brian very kindly helped me design a Memorial Card for my best friend of 64 years. I am so grateful for Brian's patience, kindness and recommendations (over the phone) to guide me through the design and printing process. He even attended to my job the next day when I went in to Staples and did a very fast and professional job for me. I'm always astounded at the size of Staples - a whole spacious warehouse devoted to all things office! I do love browsing fresh stationery, especially the pens although I have so many at home that are drying up. A lot of parallels to going out to buy food when you have stuff at home that needs to be eaten before it goes bad! I was looking for multicoloured in 1 pens to see if it could up my productivity just that little bit. They did carry them but not in the variety that I saw on the website. There were some pretty pastel ones that they didn't seem to have in store. The pricing seemed really reasonable - the same as the Amazon equivalents. In the pen aisle I did see that Bic now sells more eco-friendly pens that are made from recyclable plastic. When they caught my eye I thought they might have been made from paper or wood but we're not quite there yet. I remember back in the day you could try out pens at Grand & Toy. The main aisle with the pens didn't look like you could try them out which made sense since they were all inside of packaging. I did see that in the check-out line, there were individual pens for sale and there were signs that encouraged testing them out. The next aisle over was a Crayola smorgasbord. They have individual crayons for sale and you can pick your own colours and fill a tin with them! Really neat idea. Some other cool things that I saw around the store included some Raptors merch (Staples is the official "Working and Learning Company" of the Raptors. They also have a lot of gift cards available so if you're in a pinch to pick a gift up for someone, you can grab them here! read more

Tried calling Staples numerous times and could never get anyone on the line. Customer Service is key to keeping customers. Staples at the Stockyards has no customer service, at least when you're trying to call them!! Very disappointed!! read more

Murphy's law definitely came down hard against me on this visit. For starters they've removed a few of the computers. So if both are taken you have to wait. When I got to a computer the person on it before me shut it down instead of logging out, not the fault of the staff at staples they can't control that. But when it came my time to use the computer I tried printing out the documents I needed to print but, alas the printer was out of paper. Ok I go to the help desk since the staff no longer walk around to help people, as they are short staffed. It took over 1 minute to get the attention of a staff member and get her to come realize the printer was out of paper, then she went to get more for a total of 2 extra minutes. Not that much extra to pay on this by the minute computer rental, but if the paper was in the printer, something the other staff member seemingly standing doing nothing in the background could've done or checked on every 5-10 minutes. In this sense the extra few minutes is a point of principal leading to me giving this business a 3 star rating on this visit. read more

That was easy? Yeah right! What is not easy here is finding anyone to wait on you. After two visits, where I encountered a long line at the one open register and many wasted minutes looking for someone to help me, I realized that Staples is the same everywhere. If you know exactly what you need and need nothing from Staples staff (including a smile), you might do fine shopping here. However, if you want an experience that is better than Wal Mart, this is not it! With a major overhaul on customer service, this place could set itself apart. For now, it is good for people who do not need service and who don't mind spending a bit more to avoid Wal Mart. read more

Bought a program for my laptop and was *assured* it would work with my operating system. It didn't. When I returned for a refund they said they couldn't do that, that I should contact Microsoft instead. WTF?? I persisted and they eventually agreed to a refund but acted like it was a huge favor. Probably the worst office supply store I've been to. It's always hard to find someone to help you, and they're often out of stock of items that are listed as in stock online. I bought a printer here last year, got home and opened it, and saw that it was marked up (black marks on a white printer) - it obviously was not new, but was sold to me as if it were a new product. Took it back and no one apologized, I had to wait about 20 mins for them to exchange it for a new one. Most recently, I had a printing order that I submitted online for pickup at this store, and although I later found out that the order had been ready the day after I placed it, the store did not notify me in any way (which they are supposed to do) and I had to chase down Staples HQ to find out what was going on. They said they did not know why the store would not have notified me. When I tried to call the store to verify that they had gotten the order, I tried 3 different departments on their automated phone directory and could not get through to anyone, despite multiple attempts. This was at 3pm on a weekday when they are most certainly open! This Staples desperately needs a new management team and staff. I will go to a store further from my house in the future to avoid the headache. read more

Terrible customer service at Stockyards Staples in Toronto... and sadly by the store manager. Treated me like I was a child, doubting my return and made it impossible for me to switch a blue cyan ink cartridge for a yellow. I did not have my receipt but had my credit card and offered to get my visa statement. He told me that wasn't an option but told me he could give me a store credit of $70 when I paid $126 for the cartridge. My HP printer costs me $500 to fill up... I was pretty outraged. I filed a complaint with Staples Customer Service but never heard back from anyone. Extremely disappointing! So that said I will be ordering all of my office supplies from Amazon from now on including my ink cartridge which are much cheaper there by the way. Staples will obviously soon be going out of business, for their terrible customer service, run down stores and dated company brand. I guess they are milking their customers for all that they can get until then. Shame on Staples! read more

This Staples routinely displays goods they don't actually have in stock. I went to buy a family version of Office for Macs and was pleased to find a whole row of them ostensibly available for purchase, only to bring one to the cash where a stock boy sent to retrieve one from the back told me there weren't any left in stock (after first bringing me the wrong one). The same thing happened again this week, when I went to purchase a portable hard drive. Despite having many on display, none were actually available to buy - which I only found out after waiting a good 10 minutes while the entire rest of the line was served. I suppose in the end it worked out, because I just walked across the parking lot to Future Shop and bought a better hard drive for twenty bucks less. Lesson learned: only buy office supplies here, not any kind of technology. read more
