I visited on a Thursday, early in the morning near opening time. I was there to buy stacks of paper - 5 to be exact. No one assisted me or anything, but I wasn't expecting anything. Service wasn't above and beyond or outstanding in any way, but my relationship with Staples is very transactional. I get what I need and leave. It's open and bright in the store, and everything is neatly organized. I will definitely be back if I need more paper knowing this store opens early! read more

In these digital times, a good office supply store is sometimes hard to find. In Toronto, the old Grand & Toy stores are gone, as are a good choice of analog planners. The remaining chain standing appears to be Staples which seems to be sprinkled throughout this metro area. Gayle and I just happened to walk by as we were walking from our Hilton Hotel to the nearby Royal Ontario Museum. We left with a package of rubber bands, a box of paper clips, and expanding file folder (no paperless in our house) and a cool LEGO Unicorn for one of our granddaughters. The store is nicely laid out, although actually finding what I was looking for was somewhat confusing as the analog selections were spread out in-between the digital offerings. I never did find the 2024 Brownline planner (made in Canada) that I was looking for, but I guess that's why ordering online helps. Our checkout was also unexpectedly slow as you never know what the customer ahead of you is up to. read more

I have a love hate relationship with Staples. Sometimes I'm lucky with a staff who helps me cut custom size cards when their paper slicer is out of service. I believe they still haven't replaced that paper slicer months later. The added fee for the custom cut is reasonable and worth it. While bad times, I have to wait for 30-mins to be helped even if I scheduled my print for pick up. This recent visit is the last straw. I wanted to print a one-page doc, noticed a mistake, corrected it, resaved it under the same name and uploaded it for print. When I picked up the print, it was the old incorrect version. Now it could be my fault, so I don't want to argue it. I don't mind paying for materials again. The associate gave no mercy and charged me full price with a service fee to get the correct copy. I get it. I'm telling them to reprint it, but that means a total of $8-9 charge for one letter size card stock page and 30 min wait. It left a sour taste in my mouth. It's probably time to buy a printer and end my undying reliance on Staples. read more

The people that work in the print shop DO NOT CARE AT ALL. When you show up they are on their phones. When they eventually do talk to you. It's the bare minimum, it's almost like you're bothering them for coming to get things printed. And when you do get your prints it's the wrong size and they say there is nothing you can do. I'll never go to staples ever again. read more

If you are planning on creating a calendar for your friends and family, I wouldn't use the Staples app. I went on-line, spent hours uploading photos, adding in dates and ordered it with Same Day delivery. When I got to the store to pick it up, it was not how it looked in the preview. There was 1/4 inch of white around all my photos instead of the solid black which was shown in the print preview. It turns out that the printers in the Staples stores can't print to the edge of your paper. In addition, the paper was 65 lbs in weight not 100 lbs so it was very flimsy and did not look professional. I could have printed out something similar on my home printer. Then came the kicker - I was told I needed to go back on line and select the Premium Deluxe option which takes 5 to 7 or plus days to print. It turns out once you select the type of calendar you are creating, it will only print out as that type of calendar. So that meant I had to create an entirely new calendar - putting into photos again and adding in all the additional dates I put in my first calendar. I ordered my original calendars during the Black Friday sale to get the discount. There is no sale on now so my calendars are going to cost $25 more. And due to the additional time in getting them, they won't reach my family who lives overseas for Christmas. Also FYI they say you can add 'clip art' to your calendar - you can only add it to the photo area of the calendar. So if you thought you were going to have a cute little birthday cake icon printed next to someone's birthday this program won't do this. I like to buy stuff made in Canada but I doubt I will be printing my calendars at Staples again. Staples please fix your website! read more

With the world being so digital these days, it would be easy to see a chain like this suffer the same fate as Grand And Toy and other stationary stores have, but Staples has done a good job on pivoting their approach to adapt to the changing landscape. While they don't stock as much in terms of paper or pens anymore, they are very tech heavy and offer workshops on how to use the products we rely on (such as laptops, phones, headphones and tablets) and printing services as so many of us don't have printers anymore or for when you're in need of professional quality work. I think there's even a Starbucks in this location for if you need a drink while you shop and there is lots of bike parking out front and on the side for cyclists. This particular location is well spaced out, has whatever you need for home or office or home office solutions, and is priced pretty fairly, and has a couple washrooms too which are handy in this time of pandemic lockdowns. Worth the trip! read more

I called in advance to see if they had a product in stock for pick up. The customer service rep came back to the phone and held them at the front desk without me asking him to do so. I've found Staples csr's to always be helpful and if they don't know they get someone else to help out. read more

I went to this Staple store today to print out my visa application form. I saved my application form in the document, and time is up and the computer closed and log me out. I can't cancel my application form in the computer. I changed to use another computer continue to print my application form. When I went to the printer to pick up my application form, I found someone else printed out my application form from the previous computer which I was used. But the first page with all my passport information page was missing, not sure who printed out my application in the compute. I was so scared all my passport information already leaked out. It's not safe to use computer and print important documents in this store. Someone else will pick up your documents. read more

This review is for Staples Studio - Toronto. This co-working / shared space is conveniently located in Toronto downtown core, at the corner of University Ave. and Dundas, close to the University of Toronto, Chinatown, the city hall, and Bay Street. It is inside a Staples store -- which has longer than usual operation hours, and so whenever you run out of office and school supplies, or you need any printing and other business and marketing services, you just literally step out of the Studio and everything's there already. Free-flowing coffee and tea are being provided by Mos Mos coffee -- which also has a location inside this Staples. There's a well-equipped kitchen -- whenever I wanted to stay the whole day, I just brought food and to heat in the microwave. Didn't bring food? There are several multi-cuisine food places in and around the area. :) Muriel -- the community manager, has also always been helpful and accommodating. Overall, this is a good space not just for start ups and freelancers, but also if you just need a quiet place to chill. read more

At the print shop, I was served by Brianna. Brianna was helping an older gentleman print something. He could not understand what he was to do to output his print job. Brianna was very patient and kind. After she had started to help me, she noticed the older gentleman still needing help. Of course I told her to help him instead of me. When it was my turn, I struggled to output a print job. Brianna walked me through the steps. It didn't work out the way I had planned in my head, and the machine was not taking notice of my telepathic commands (LOL). I waited in line for Brianna and showed my legal sized job shrunk to 8.5x11 in the middle of the page. In the meantime, another young gentleman was raising his voice to another co-worker about having to pay an extra charge for a one hour rush job. Brianna immediately, and understandably went to assist her co-worker. I do not know exactly what was discussed, and it was calmed down swiftly. Brianna looked at the print job I had botched, and offered to fix it herself. WHAT AN ANGEL!!!! Brianna was calm, assessed each of our different situations and resolved each of our struggles immediately. I couldn't help but notice how harshly some of the clients were speaking at the staff behind the counter. Brianna and her co-worker were calm. I will come back to this Staples anytime! read more

Bought a tv. Came cracked. Asked to exchange, staples would only return. Filled in form told they would pick up in a few days. Ordered new tv, now out $1,000. No pick up. Called again, finally showed to pick up two weeks later, car too small, had to leave the tv. Said they would pick up the next day when delivering new tv. Came home to find two TVs on my front step. Have been emailing and calling everyday, damaged tv still here... no refund. Not sure about anyone else, but I can't afford to be out $500. This is terrible customer service. I'll think twice before I buy anything from them again! read more

This review is directed at the Print and Copy Center and I must say, I am sorely upset and disappointed with the services of this location. Using their online system, I had pre-ordered and paid for two prints last night and received an email this morning notifying me that my prints were ready for pickup. Trekking through strong wind to get here, they were empty handed when I arrived. They had to reprint everything and although the wait wasn't too bad, what's the point of pre-ordering if they're just going to print on the spot and I still have to loiter around waiting for them?? Secondly, the coloured photos of my prints all came out significantly more orange-tinted and over saturated than the original files that I had submitted... I asked the employee why it seemed like a filter had been put on and he explained that "oh, some printers are just like that"... So I guess I'm never coming back to this location ever again for making prints. It's such a shame that there's no Walmart downtown Toronto. read more

I bought a backup cell phone from staples "Sky Devices" Phone (big south American cell company). The phone was great at first but developed a fault so I tried to return under warranty. Sky Devices customer service number never answers and the message machine is always full so you can not leave a message, They do not return emails, there on line chat doesn't work. I went to the store I purchased the phone from 542 Keel St Toronto and spoke to one of the managers (Danielle P**rell). She tried to contact Sky Devices and got the same result as me. She said she would contact the sales rep to get me my warranty repair and give me a call during the next day or two. Five days later I hadn't had any call so i went to the store.Her response now "I've heard nothing so there is nothing i can do" Staples sold me an item with warranty (24 month warranty clearly marked on the box) and Staples will not honor the warranty that they sold me I will never ever buy any item from staples again and I will enjoy repeating the story of how "Staples ripped me off" , every time the occasion is even slightly appropriate ! read more

I've been working at a conference nearby this Staples and have made several trips per day here. It's big and clean and has a good selection of office electronics and office supplies. They also have an in-house printing facility. The prices are quite ridiculous. We paid over $100 for 4 poster sized colour print outs (on regular paper). They are able to print quickly though (if you pay even more!) and the staff was knowledgable. read more

The Staples Store is conveniently located on University Ave, south of Dundas, and is minutes walk from St.Patrick station. This is perhaps the flagship store for Staples in Toronto. I can't recall another store as professional and modern looking as this store. They also added the "Staples Studio" and MOS MOS coffee, and they had a launch party yesterday. The Studio and MOS MOS is a new strategic concept that Staples want to create and make people think that It is more than office supplies. I was there for the launch party and was impressed about their presentation and enthusiasm. Management and staff had put tremendous efforts into this project. It's hard to describe all of it in a review; but rather I recommend you go drop by and experience it yourself. read more

After being very disappointed with the notebook selection at the Grand and Toy in the Eaton Centre (worst), I walked over to this spot at Dundas/University. The store doesn't look so big from the outside, but it's huge and has the usual office supply selection/furniture/snacks/etc. The building seems to be under construction at the moment - but the store is still open. read more

I was actually surprised that it was a large store. It looks so tiny from the outside. The store is well organized but I had trouble finding my ink toner for my laser jet and I must have come at their busiest time because I could not get any help for a while. Every person I asked was serving a customer.I am the shy type so I just do not like to bud in when someone is helping or talking to a customer. 20 minutes later someone helped me find the correct toner. Other than the wait I always go to staples for any office equipment I need. My suggestion is to go during non busy times. read more

The best customer service ever! I bought a laptop the other day, and I just do not like its shape and want to change an Alienware laptop, but I lost the receipt. The sales manager helped me to find my original receipt and gave me a refund. He is very very kind and I am really appreciate that. read more

Okay so you know how you go into these big box stores with parking in a commercial mall and you are ignored for your whole visit and then a sullen cashier takes your money for the exorbitantly priced printer cassette? Maybe you have to wait for the sullen cashier to finish sharing the details of a weekend with a co-worker before going through the onerous task of swiping your purchase and checking you out. You know you're living in a barren wasteland in those moments. This STAPLES is nothing like that! Yes it's a chain, yes it's a big box store BUT the staff are HAPPY! Yup, I know, shocking but true. And just to blow your mind, they are not only happy, they are helpful. I've been here four times in the last two weeks (don't ask) and every time it's the same: happy, helpful, shining people in a big box store. read more

Now I'm certainly not in the business of reviewing office supply stores. Having said that I looove office supplies. Label makers! Markers, highlighters, pretty folders and paper trays....*happy sigh*...anyway, I was in desperate need of locating ink for my printer. I tried phoning a few Grand & Toys (who, after hanging up on me instead of picking up the phone properly, being pretty unfriendly and seemed to not give a shit, and then said "Yeah, we don't have any of that in stock. You can try online if you have a credit card." When I asked if they're able to check if any other locations have it in stock, I was told that every Grand &Toy in Canada is closing at the end of June. I guess that explains that. So I looked online, called the Staples nearest me (not terribly close, but hey, I could still ttc it there) where I was helped by a really friendly and informative guy this morning in electronics section, who not only helped me narrow down what I needed, provided useful, money saving information. I headed in and was approached by a really helpful sales guy in store right away. He gave me even more information (like if I get an XL toner, it provides me with more ink - had no idea!) and showed me that they have their own Staples brand so I don't have to pay the price of a kidney to be able to print at home! YAAY! Also, when I was trying to find another aisle, another friendly guy approached me (hands full of stuff, still went out of his way to help) and showed me where I needed to go. Very impressed. Will definitely be back (hoping the Martha Stewart paper trays will go on sale because I don't want to pay $14 a pop for one)! read more
