I've tried to shop here repeatedly over the years, and I often leave without what I came for. The selection and stock are usually thin, whether you're looking for a laptop, a phone case, a tablet bag, even writing paper. Most of all, I am usually disappointed with the (lack of) service. My last trip to this store was a few days into the new year, and we came in specifically for an item that had 7 listed in stock on the website at this location. Good luck finding it. When your website says you have 7 of these things in stock, and I can't find a single one on the floor, I shouldn't be hearing 3 different sales staff ask, well did you look in Aisle 1, visibly hoping/expecting that you haven't, because they don't want to have to deal with finding it. Then, we were directed to another aisle, and yes, the category of items is also there, but again, not the 7 pieces of this item that are in this particular store, according to your website stock count. So, once again, next salesperson, and again, Did you check in Aisle 1. Yes, the whole world is checking Aisle 1, because Aisle 1 has next to nothing left in that display and customers are walking out empty-handed. Oh wait look, it's a bird, it's a plane, it's ... dozens of huge boxes of stock sitting on top of your shelves! And then, another 15 minutes trying to find staff who are (1) willing, and (2) able to unpack the box very clearly branded and labelled with its brand and contents so that we can buy the thing. (I should also mention, when it's past January 1 and the item in question is a daily planner, you might want to have all these things out yesterday, because depreciation on these things is pretty serious by this point ...) Granted, the staff went through the trouble of doing this, and were helpful enough ... once the customer persistently does more than half the work of hunting for what they want, and guiding the staff on how to retrieve it. Really Staples, your management is leaving a lot to be desired. You have hundreds of people coming in here every day, and I saw more than one customer leave empty-handed in the more than half hour I was there to buy something you clearly show on hand on your website. That was the most recent experience, and I can't say that most other shopping experiences there are that much better. The last time I bought something before that, I almost left empty-handed, because the cashier was so much more concerned about gathering payment and marketing information from me rather than serving me for my purchase, that she neglected to hand over my bag of purchases before I left the store. Good thing I wasn't alone that time and my mate thought to ask the cashier for the stuff I just paid for.

Recently they've been handing $5 coupons to people making returns from Amazon to Staples to be used…read morethe same day. Which I totally took advantage of and made some purchases for additional event supplies. Staples also does price matching if you see anything else online that's more expensive than Staples. So I'm conflicted with my experience, in store shopping experience was fine. They even price match with anything online so making the use of the $5 coupon I received a no brainer. However, the online print experience seems unreliable for prints that are outsourced (business cards). It makes me grateful that I'm glad I had a printer at home so I didn't need to rely on their printing. I tried to make a purchase for printing for same day pick up, they couldn't print in time and there is no status update. It's kind of deceiving on the marketing check out page on the business cards print says if you had to make the purchase before 11am it's eligible for same day pick up otherwise it would be next day by 6pm, next day was fine but it's still to this day not delivered. It's impossible to even dial-in to talk to a staff member on the phone. I was put on hold for 1.5hrs on a weekday and still no pick up. I decided to check them out in-person since I was at the plaza anyway. They said I should just call them tomorrow morning to see if the order has been shipped (they don't print business cards onsite). I tried calling them tomorrow morning at the store and they weren't able to pick up. So I had a backup plan. Now that the event that I needed it for has passed, the use for these printed items are not as urgent but can still be used for the future. I still noticed they haven't issued any email update on whether these items are ready for pick up. Online communication takes days to respond. I ordered Nov 12 and it's Nov 19 and I still haven't gotten confirmation for pick up. This is before the official Canada Post strike on Nov 15... I'm just surprised by the lack of communication from Staples and it's hard to get hold of.

I shop personally and for work at Staples.. I love how they offer free next day deliver for orders…read moreover $50.. If you ever try to carry a box of paper up 2 flights of stairs, you know what I mean. I usually just order most of my office needs over the Internet using their website.. but this particular day I decided to pop in the store since I just want to pick up something small.. and I need it right away!! This Staples is set up a little different than the ones I usually frequent, so it took me awhile to find what I need...... no associates came over and asked if I need any help... Ended up I went to the Dollarama next door and got a cheap small calculators for $2 instead of $8 at Staples. I think I will just stay with website browsing for the time being!

Big on using less to reduce waste so we can preserve our natural surroundings?…read more Living in a crazy tech-focused world, im sure we all go through many cartridges of ink / toner monthly..yearly? And the costs are rather outrageous if you ask me! Along came this company in Whitby, ont that will refill your inkjet cartridges empties for a small portion of what you would pay to get a brand new one. PLUS you don't have to throw out the empty cartridge, thus reducing unnecessary waste! I had 10 cartridges to refilled today...6 blacks and 4 colored ones... to purchase brand new ones...id say i would easily spend $120-$150. I paid less than $75 to get them refilled here. Only took 1 hour... and it being in such a great area full of shops and places to eat or sip coffee, the 60 minute wait was nothing! Now, do me a favor, tell all your friends about this place. We need to help our fellow yelpers on saving money and our mother earth by reducing waste! they also sell high quality new compatible inkjet / toner cartridges for much cheaper as well as other business services! ps... please note, when u enter the place, .just a lot of printers/ink & toners stocked up .you will find a very diligent male person by the name of Chris working away and he is very nice. just busy working. =)
