Best bite in town by far. I had the jerk ribs and they were fire. Took a while for the food to come out but good things take time.

Man listen here! I…read morehad been following Caribbean Vybz on Instagram and liking and drooling over just about every picture they posted for a while, but just never got to visit as by the time I got home from work they were either closed or had ran out of what I wanted. Fast forward a year or so and much to my joy they announced via social media that they had stopped cooking out of their home and started a food truck! One day I saw that they would be on Larimer Avenue in the Larimer section of the city so I made my way there expeditiously as T.I. would say. LOL! I already knew that I was going to go with their Curry shrimp with cabbage and rice & peas! I also got a Tropical Rhythms Island Mango drink to wash it all down. A few minutes later I had my food and made my way home. You guessed it, expeditiously! LOL! As soon as I started to dig in I was taken back as I hadn't had Jamaican food this good since Mama Rose on nearby Mayflower Street in the late 90's! The shrimp was perfectly cooked and full of flavor! The cabbage was tender and the rice and peas were delicious as well! My food was so good that I told my wife about it and ended up going back the same day to get us their Jerk chicken for dinner. Unfortunately it was near the end of the night and they had ran out of cabbage, but gave us extra chicken which more than made up for not having anymore cabbage. The jerk chicken was absolutely incredible! Very authentic and just as delicious! Be sure to follow them on Instagram @caribbeanvybzllc to see where they will be next! I still can't believe that authentic Jamaican food like this can come out of a food truck!

The feed is fresh, cooked and seasoned to perfection and the price is fair. They are conveniently located throughout the city, they post their menu and hours on social media in advance. There are a few options around Pittsburgh for Jamaican cuisine but this is certainly one of my favorites.

Visited 25 July 2023…read more After a long day of walking along Front Street, Back Street, and the Boardwalk, in the blazing Caribbean sun, my man and I decided to try one local restaurant along the Boardwalk. It was 1130, but that restaurant was barely lighting up the grill, so no food was ready yet. We walked away in search of someplace else to eat. We didn't even walk for 50 meters before we were approached by Vivien (spell check needed), who invited us to come inside to 'Eat at the Something 2' for what she described as authentic Jamaican cuisine. After asking her about the menu, we decided to have lunch there. She walked us in, seated us, and took our drink orders (there were 2 drinks for $10 special). Before getting our drinks, she turned on the a/c and pointed the fan in the direction of our table (we were the only patrons at the time). The a/c didn't seem to be working, but the fan was sufficient. Anyway, we got our drinks and waited for our food. By this time, two other sets of diners had walked in; one set sat inside opposite of where we were seated, and the other set sat outside on the balcony, overlooking the Boardwalk and the beach. Vivien seemed to be the only employee at first. She did mention that the cook had prepared the food earlier but left. After a while, another lady came in and started taking orders from the other patrons. She brought our food out shortly after. My man got the lobster with red beans and rice and a salad. His lobster looked soooo good that the other guests were staring at the mouthwatering appearance. I had the jerkchickenn, also with red beans and rice with salad (you could substitute the rice for fries). My food was delicious, but the lobster was amazing. It was grilled and evenly charred. It came with a side of melted butter, but the lobster was so flavourful that the butter was not needed (of course, I tried it). My jerk chicken was delicious too, and it was a big serving, I had to get a to-go box to save what I didn't finish. Overall, the meals were delicious, and Vivien and the other waitress who came in later were very pleasant and welcoming. If that doesn't sawy you, maybe the free wifi will lol. I would definitely eat here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Absolutely disappointing! First of all, I should've known better than to get a Roti from a Jamaican…read morerestaurant in PITTSBURGH ! Roti's are primarily a Trinidadian / Guyanese dish which and is derived from their East Indian roots. However, being born and raised in NYC, the Jamaican restaurants knew how to properly make Roti, despite it not being their original dish. This was by far one of most egregious and disrespectful attempts at making a "Roti" I've ever seen. This place used store bought, soft taco shells, sprayed with cooking oil, and warmed up in a microwave. Roti flatbread cannot be substituted for any other kind flatbread albeit, Naan, Pita, or Flour Tortilla. It changes the flavor of the dish and renders it a completely different dish. Not only was the preparation of the "Roti" absurd, but the customer service was trash. I requested a copy of my receipt and the lady who prepared my food told me she would text it to me. Not only did she ask me to repeat my number numerous times, but she had 1 earbud in while she was taking my number. Therefore, she was not paying attention. After I inspected my food and decided to leave the restaurant, knowing that there was no use in trying to get my "Roti" order fixed, I realized I still didn't get my receipt. I returned to the front counter and informed her that I didn't get my receipt and she insisted that I repeat my phone number again, slowly. I complied, and as I sit here writing this review, I still do not have my receipt. I will say, all in all, aside from the ludicrous attempt at making roti by using store bought flour tortillas, the curried goat was actually good.

The rice and beans were flavorful and cooked just right, and the cabbage? By far the best seasoned cabbage I've had yet hands down. What really made the experience even better was the service. I'm happy I got the dessert because that was the only thing that tasted good. The Mac and cheese was decent but very plain, I had to season it when I got home. The cabbage was ok. The jerk chicken was nasty. I was really disappointed with the jerk chicken especially since she had to go in the back to get it which was sus. It looked beautiful, but made me realize looks are deceiving. Idk whose cooking but they need to throw in the towel, I would not recommend this place at all.

When I saw Flavor of Puerto Rico was offering a $6 discount on an online ordering app, I was definitely interested. Tonight, I ordered the baked chicken sandwich, sweet plantains (maduros), a beef and cheese empanada, as well as a slice of tres leches. It was a lovely meal at a great price. The sandwich was simple, but very good. Their chicken is roasted perfectly, and incredibly tender. They give you a pretty good portion for the price, too. Pan de agua, or water bread, is homemade and soaks up the chicken juices. It's great! There's also a bit of cheese in this sandwich, which was a nice touch. This was my first time trying maduros, so I wasn't too sure what to expect other than a sweet flavor. These were definitely sweet, and they are generous with their side portions. Maduros are caramelized on the outside and quite soft on the inside. I'm not the biggest fan of maduros now that I know their flavor, but these were clearly expertly made and still worth trying. The empanadas (or pastellitos) are an absolute must try when you visit this place. I got the beef and cheese, which was sooo good! The ground beef is juicy and flavorful, while the crust is light and crunchy. I didn't find any cheese in this empanada, though. I was a fan of their tres leches. It was very well soaked and creamy. It's topped with a nice coating and a dusting of cinnamon (the cinnamon flavor is not very prominent). The dessert is not too heavy, either. I do wish the portion was a little bigger. All in all, this is a hidden gem in Mount Oliver. There are only a few Puerto Rican places in Pittsburgh, and this surely excellent food which seems quite authentic! Now they have a more consistent menu, too, instead of just daily specials. Definitely worth a try for anyone who's curious about Puerto Rican cuisine.
