Limited menu but wings is all you wanna order here
    Shawn R.

I have been coming to Murphys ever since i was a little boy. And continue to come as a big boy too!!! Murphys wings is family owned and certainly have the best breaded wings in town. Hands down!! The secret is in their homemade breading always made fresh and filled with flavorful spices. The chicken wings are huge and never frozen which helps with taste quality. Each wing is fried to perfection and is crispy as can be which is a huge plus for a wing connoisseur. The next best thing is they brew their own stout here called Murphys stout. A flavorful beverage stout that finishes creamy and is the perfect compliment to wash this amazing poultry down so 5 stars for the above mentioned. The review is an overall 4 stars bc the menu is small. And nothing else on it tastes very memorable. Also the eating area is small and crampy and usually crowded. So wings to go is always a goos idea too.

    Fried wings. Wow!

I came here on St Patrick's day, so it was packed. Service was still surprisingly good. We got some pizza and their famous wings. The pizza was good and the toppings were fresh. The wings were actually windings. The thigh and leg are still attached and then they bread it and deep fry it. These aren't your traditional wings because they aren't drenched in sauce. They have bottles of Franks red hot and sriracha on the table. I personally like this way of serving them because I can put on the amount of sauce I desire. This seems like a fun bar to come to for beer and pub grub. I will come back to try more menu items.

This may be the best hole in the wall recommendation by a friend I have ever received. You wouldn't know it by looking at the outside but Murphy's has one of the best take on wings I have ever come across. While not your typical wings, there are no flavors to chose from, Murphy's wings are breaded and fried to perfection w hot sauce or sriracha on the table for your use. You order by wing (whole wing) and won't be disappointed. When you break into them you see how moist they are while getting absolute crisp perfection from the breading. The only bad experience I had st Murphy's is when I looked down at my plate and all the wings gone

Must have the wings and they' re like anywhere else!

Everything tastes homey but polished, like what you'd cook for a special dinner. The vibes are chill but smart -- great spot dropped right into downtown. I've already been back twice!

The servers and front of house workers are pleasant and eager to help. The restaurant is rather small with very little seating and a small bar. I had a group of 7 for our Supper Club and they took us shortly after opening so that they could better serve us. Our waitress was super helpful with suggestions and answered any questions that we had about the menu. She was helpful and accommodating, not to mention patient with all of our questions! We indulged in multiple appetizers, different entrées, and even dessert. Here's my review of each part of the meal: Smoked Chicken Pierogies: These pierogies were different and delicious. They were super flavorful, but they were unique and worthy of trying! Foccacia: I cannot say enough good things about their foccacia. It was perfectly soft and plump and included 3 unique dipping sauces that blew me away: red pepperonata, whipped ricotta pepper honey, and pomegranate molasses. I couldn't believe how good all of it tasted! Mustard Glazed Salmon: This dish came with butternut squash hummus & grains. The salmon was cooked perfectly and flavored well with the mustard. I didn't love the grains and the hummus was underwhelming, but it was a unique dish. Blackberry & Pumpkin Crepes: These Crepes were flavorful and delicious. The pumpkin was not overly spiced up so this was a perfect light dessert to end our meal. The blackberry Crepes weren't as flavorful but delicious and nice to try. Other people in my group had the fall lasagna, diver scallops, pub burger, and bolognese, and all dishes got rave reviews! I also had a Pumpkin Espresso Martini. The flavor was great. I was disappointed in the overly salted rim and the lack of espresso beans on top, but I'd drink it again because it was delicious overall. This place was a welcomed surprise and the flavor combinations were unique and different. This place is definitely something to talk about!

In this part of Johnstown, it definitely is a rough area. Parking is either on street or across the street in a gravel parking lot beneath a billboard. If you do park in that lot, do be carful crossing the street as it can be a busy one. Plus there is a slight curve that a driver might not see you while your rush across the street. Once inside you can tell that it lives up to the bar and grill in its name. It has this look inside that gives off this 80s dining vibe. One that calls back to those eateries once found in the mall. You know, those ones where it's almost too dark to see yourself let alone the menu. One where it is very dark wood, heavy on the brick, and all things that make you feel like your in and old time inn. Once settled at a table, we had our menus in hand and were given some time to look them over. Our server came back, took our drink orders and left us for a few more minutes to finalize our decisions considering the menu. Once we decided orders were place and we just waited for our food to come out. It gave us time to look around the place and take in our surroundings. When we first got here, there weren't many people. As we ordered, there were more and more customers that came in. Filling up the tables and making it feel warmer. We were in the midst of conversation and our food came out. I ordered the Franklin Street Bar & Grill Famous Meatloaf. This comes with a slice of the thickest homemade meatloaf I have ever seen. Plopped on top of a pile of mashed potatoes then topped with fried onion rings and smothered in brown gravy. This thing, even though not exactly as described and pictured, was delicious. Not sure if it is fame worthy as I have never heard of it, but hey, I will make sure to remember this when in the area again. To note, entrees are served with your choice of soup, salad, or applesauce, and comes with a homemade dinner roll. The service here is stellar. They all go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and their memory is like a vice grip. One thing you do need to keep on your toes about here, watch your step. With the dimness and small step ups, it would be easy to trip. They do have signs everywhere, but they can be hard to spot if you aren't aware of your surroundings.

For lunch, the sandwiches and soups are amazing! (They also have soup flights!!!) For dinner I always recommend the sou vide chicken. It's the best chicken in town. The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the wait times for food. Food can up to 45-50 minutes to come out of the kitchen when they are really busy. Now, does that impact the experience? Nope! Enjoy the atmosphere while you wait. It's always well worth it.

Y'all they got rid of the steaks!!!!!! I'm so beyond disappointed. Honestly the whole reason I…read morereturned was for the food envy of not ordering the steak the last time I was there. So now....I have been here various times and the food before was excellent. There also appeared to be much more variety before. It doesn't appear now that the restaurant staff and menu supports the initial idea of the place so the whole speakeasy vibe and is now lost in translation. The service this time was good albeit we had another new server so it kind of scares me that on more than one occasion our server was new. It doesn't appear to be a place where they can retain staff. In addition the place was pretty empty, so you would expect The servers to be extra attentive which did not appear to be the case. The food this time was not even memorable. My husband had some salad thing which was pretty standard. But this time nothing wowed me like the first or second time since the original options were greatly reduced or removed. Really kind of sad to see the whole vision for this place to fall apart. I'd say with the menu options now and the standard of service. They are better to scale back completely and rebrand as a lunch spot. Reduce the prices and put out cheaper lunch options. It's giving "it could have been love but it's over now..." Overall would not recommend this place for dinner or couples. But maybe a cool lunch spot for working professionals or ladies who lunch.
