Every time I've eaten here, it's been great, but last evening was exceptional! I was feeling homesick for the beach, so I ordered an "Ocean Water" to start, and shrimp & grits for the meal. The drink was pretty good, and I started to feel like we were on vacation. Then my plate arrived... wow!!! First, they gave me a LOT, so I got two full meals out of one. Second, the cheesy grits were done well - not everyone knows how to make them. Third, I did not expect sausage slices on this thing - andouille? It was amazing. The flavors blended expertly, and I was a happy camper. (I had to pick off the peppers, but it's not their fault that I get heartburn.) We stopped at BG for dinner after the PA Mountain Bike race in Johnstown. Service was good. Ask your server about the actual tap menu, the one on the table was completely wrong. We ended up with a great Green Iguana from Evergrain. The pretzel app and potato soup were both awesome. I had the Oktoberfest sampler with Wiener schnitzel, brats, weiß kraut and spätzl. We also had a rare cooked tuna wrap and the Alfredo. All were very good. This place has a very old school vibe. Tons of seating indoors and outdoors. When we walked in, we were surprised how big the interior was. We were hesitant to eat here since there were a lot of vehicles outside in the various parking lots. But there was plenty of seating available inside. We sat there for a good 30 minutes before a young man came over to us and said he would take our drink order even though our waitress, Courtney, was unavailable at the time. After he took our drink order, he went to the door of the outside deck and started yelling for Courtney. We got our drinks and after about 5 more minutes after our drinks, one was ice tea and one was an alcoholic drink, Courtney decided to grace us with her presence. My wife and I couldn't decide on what to order as there was many excellent looking choices on the menu. But we both decided to order the Penne Pasta Alfredo. I did an add on with Blackened Chicken and she did an add on with Blackened Salmon. The Alfredo Sauce was excellent as well as the Blackened Chicken. The Blackened Salmon had the skin still on it. My wife had to try and get the skin off of the piece of salmon while in the alfredo sauce. Not sure if this is how they generally cook it, but the majority of people don't like salmon skin and you certainly don't want to be fiddling with your salmon in the Alfredo sauce. If memory serves me right, the Alfredo Penne cost $13.50 per plate and the add on Chicken and Salmon was an additional $9.00 per plate. We did not get any bread with our meal, which is probably the norm at this establishment. This might be a high end restaurant for Johnstown standards, but not for mine. The waitress, Courtney, didn't even offer to refill our drinks until after we had our to-go containers filled let alone ask us if we wanted desert. We were more of an inconvenience to her than anything. The salmon skin alone tells me the Chefs don't know what they are doing. But for our waitress to not even come to our table for almost 45 minutes and the male waiter had to go looking for her and yelling for her tells me they are no better than Denny's. Even at McDonalds, they don't yell for their employees, because they are all there at their stations. read more

Boulevard Grill is a hidden gem in Johnstown! My fiance and I travel to Johnstown on business periodically, and this is one of our favorite places for a weekend dinner! We prefer to sit at the bar because the bartenders always provide great service! We have never been disappointed with the food; the wraps are always my favorite, especially the Southwest Wrap. I also LOVE the homemade wedding soup! It does get pretty busy on Friday and Saturday nights, so I would recommend making reservations if you would like to sit at a table! read more

Enjoyed my visit. My wife liked the burger. I got the hot wings and they were really weird, not what I expected. They had some curry flavor or something odd that I can't really place, and as a wing lover, they were not great and I would not order those again.... I often to go places for the wings so... bummer. The onion rings were really good. Wait staff was wonderful. We got right in without a wait. Only a few people there but really a good looking establishment. Clean and a good vibe. Prices were a little high for lunch, but that's how it is now at a lot of places. Roughly 60 bucks with the tip. I had "hot wings" and onion rings, wife had a burger and some rice. She had a pop and I had 1 beer. Some people will think that's high and others might not. I thought it seemed high. All in all, I think I will give them another try. read more

Worth the wait is the my summary of this review. I arrived with my spouse and waited approximately an hour for my other guests to arrive. Two adults and one child. There were plenty of different seating options with a very comfortable welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted by the bartender upon our entry and directed to the options of inside, inside upper porch and outside deck. I love the variety the space offers. Our waitress heather was very accommodating and did not appear to be bothered by the 1 hour late arrival of our additional guests. The cocktail and draft options were plentiful and unique. I got the bourbon fizz, the pumpkin martini, and an apple mule. Let just say the pumpkin martini was scrumptious. I recommended it to my additional guests, all parties tried it and my brother who is not a cocktail fan said it was the best drink he ever had in his life. The bourbon fizz was equally delicious. We ordered the bruschetta crostini which was flavorful and beautifully presented. I had the salmon, while my husband had the brisket which I happily sampled. The salmon had a uniquely fresh flavor palate..... however I experienced food jealousy like no other when I sampled the brisket which melt in my mouth and was easily the best I've ever had. My brother and his spouse were beyond satisfied and stated their food, the buffalo chicken sandwich and hot wings were top notch. Our waitress and an additional waitress were especially attentive to our nephew providing him with stickers and special attention. Definitely a family friendly place with an obvious love for children. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the Johnstown area and I can see why some have said it's the best restaurant in Johnstown. The variety of the space, the food, and the overall accommodating service is top notch. I will definitely return and recommend anyone to give it a try. read more

The Boulevard Grill & Warehouse was a solid experience, but one I won't return to. My party of three was directed upstairs on a quiet Monday afternoon where we found no one else sitting. After other experiences like this at other restaurants I'm beginning to wonder if it's a tactic used to annoy a server on shift others don't like because our waitress was clearly irritated. Every time she came to our table she had this exasperated way of talking like she wanted us gone as quickly as possible. She would sigh and quickly sprint away when we weren't ready to order immediately. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak. It was ok - not bad, not good, just ok. The cocktails were great! Our family travelled to Johnstown for a celebration of life for a beloved family member. We were looking for a restaurant that had a varied menu, and could accommodate our group of 15. The manager was very accommodating to our group and we had several conversations to keep in touch as we were traveling from Georgia. He assigned us nice large tables in an area upstairs. He even offered special parking for a disabled family member. Our group had the privacy needed for our dinner together. At first i was a bit concerned about staffing, as we only had one server who was a bit overwhelmed. I quickly requested additional service, and it was granted, things began to move faster. Our group enjoyed wine, beer, soft drinks and I was even able to get a frozen drink which was great! The food was good, some family members liked it better than others. Its hard to please a large group. The favorites were the salmon and the chicken. The steak special was just ok in our opinion (although to be honest I don't normally eat NY strip steak). We would not recommend the brisket. The salads and soup were very good. The food did come out together which is great for a group and everything was hot and correct, so that was wonderful. We made a nice memory together here (in our home town). The manager presented us with cheesecake as a dessert gesture, how sweet was that? Excellent hospitality! read more

Had our appetizer fairly quickly, the zucchini was ok, a little under done on the inside. Waited over 45 minutes for our entrees, and the waitress never checked in on us the whole time. We had empty drinks for probably 15 minutes. The entrees were barely ok. My salmon was a bit mushy and wet, with a lack of seasoning. It was supposed to be honey Dijon glaze, but it had almost none on it. The rice was ok. My wife's haddock was the same. Little flavor. The Cole slaw and the roasted cauliflower were good. Both meals were cold by the time we got them. The waitress, who did not tell us her name, was underwhelming. She only checked on us a couple of times and was not very friendly. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't good. We would try again, but it was definitely a disappointment. read more

Honestly, I wanted to really love this place, but after my last visit, I can't really say that I'm a fan. My husband and I decided to give his place a try for dinner. He ordered a Corona and I got a strawberry hibiscus moscow mule. My drink was good. No complaints. For our meal I got the southwest chicken wrap with broccoli. Originally, I had requested french fries, but was informed there would be an up charge for fries. (An UP CHARGE for fries??? Seriously?) My husband ordered steak cooked medium, broccoli, and baked potato. Our food took a good 30 minutes to make its way to our table. My wrap was good... quite big. Nothing to necessarily brag about. Broccoli was standard. My husband's steak was grossly overcooked. It was well done - not medium as he had ordered. Service was ok... not great. When we were ready to leave, I ended up just taking our check to the bar to pay because our waiter was no where in sight. Overall... Can't say I'm impressed. Our meal totaled $75, so for what we got compared to what we paid, it's a disappointment. I understand prices have gone up, but this was honestly a tad ridiculous. Whenever we visit Johnstown, we always go to the boulevard Grill. The ambience is great. It's a relaxing yet fun place to grab a bite to eat. My husband loves the potato skins. There are always nice and crunchy and they have a hot sauce. They're called death sauce it's not really that hot but it does have a ton of flavor. We have not yet had a bad server since we've been there. Luke and Julia are awesome. Definitely a must try. read more

We left another restaurant after a bad experience and came here. We can see why it is rated the #1 restaurant in Johnstown. When we called and asked for an almost immediate reservation, Michael quickly accommodated us. We arrived about 10 minutes after our call and were warmly greeted and taken upstairs to a very quiet dining area. Robin, our server, came over immediately and enthusiastically welcomed us to the restaurant. She was extremely helpful in explaining the menu. We told her we were visiting from Baltimore, Maryland. We ordered a bottle of the Prophecy Pinot Grigio, which was light and crisp. My husband decided on a burger with blue cheese crumbles and pickles. His dish came with the best tasting French fries. I decided that the special of Chicken Pot Pie and Salad sounded very good to me. Everything was freshly prepared and delicious. My husband asked Robin if they had ice cream for dessert, but they do not serve ice cream. She suggested we go The Meadows and she was right. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners and service. I' had a mixed bag of experiences here and I'm surprised to see my previous reviews haven't survived yelp. My first experience, I was really happy for a place with good food and a craft beer selection in J town. A later experience was remarkably bad for the service in terms of time for the food to come out, incorrect orders and the waitress not coming to check on us (this was pre-covid by a few years). My most recent experience, we sat at the bar and had a nice meal! My black and blue burger was very tasty as were the fries, good seasoning. The beer offerings continue to be good. We loved the pumpkin beer offerings and the sugar rim here is done extremely well. I would come back and would recommend sitting at or near the bar if your group is small enough because I think the atmosphere down there is cute and one always gets good service bar-front. read more

Ordered the Duetsch Platter and my wife ordered the brisket sandwich. Both were seriously good. Every element of the platter was nicely done. Spatzel schnitzel potato salad sauerkraut very good. I am from Johnstown originally but moved away years ago. Anytime we come home to visit, however, Boulevard Grill is always on our list of restaurants. We would bring my nearly 90-year-old grandmother with us and order her the sliders appetizer and give her just one of the burgers and she would look at it and say "oh that's too much! Just give me half of that!" We always enjoy the food and the service is great - wait staff is always attentive, even when they are busy. My grandmother passed away recently at the age of 90 and so it was time for one last trip to Johnstown. My parents booked the upstairs deck for our group of about 15 or so. We had two servers, Julia and Lauren, and they handled our loud, emotional, laughing and crying crowd with professionalism and courtesy. The food was amazing as always (order whatever you want, it will be good, but I highly recommend the grilled romaine Caesar salad - you can't always find a grilled romaine salad and this one is terrific) and not once did we feel pressured to wrap it up (which can be an issue at other places). The owner also made sure to send out complimentary cheesecake to all of the guests, which was really such a nice gesture. He called my mother the next day to make sure that everything was to her liking, and it certainly was. It was so nice to be with family, to celebrate my grandmother, and to have good food and drink through it all. Hopefully your visit there will be for happier reasons, but do be sure to visit. Recently had a most enjoyable and delicious lunch at The Boulevard Grill and Warehouse. From the moment our group of 44 people arrived via motor coach, owner Don cordially welcomed everyone as the stepped off the bus and directed us to a lovely private dining room with tastefully set tables where we were served beverages, salads, and rolls. Our friendly and attentive servers Jill and gabby then invited us to the aptly named "Comforter" buffet, which was bountiful and very nicely presented. Everyone in the group loves the meal and the yummy desserts! Kudos to Don, Jill, Gabby, and the rest of the kitchen staff for providing a memorable luncheon! Stopped on our way back to Pittsburgh. What a great find. When we entered Gillian greeted us, she was so personable and friendly.
