So, so good! The ice cream is awesome and it comes with delicious waffle cone cookies. The flavors are more traditional than out there, i.e. no Vietnamese coffee or lemongrass, but they have a nice variety of flavors. The fruit flavors, mexican chocolate, burnt caramel and toffee have all been amazing. It's hard to go wrong here. I would recommend anything here with "chocolate" in the name, and their toffee ice cream is similarly delectable. Selections involving fruit flavors can be a tad more iffy, but are generally good as well. Scoop size... one of the staff slings ice cream with a freer hand. I almost walked right by this spot because I thought it was Scream Sorbet. I'm an ice cream lover and I love classic flavors. Don't get me wrong, sometimes coconut basil sorbet tastes okay, but I will take Salted Caramel and Toffee over that stuff any day. We just happened upon this ice cream store right on Solano Avenue in Albany. I learned they make all of their ice cream in the back and it is really good!. They have many flavors and you can taste them with small metal spoons before you pick. The texture is smooth, creamy and it is great. It's only $2.50 per scoop and $5.00 for milkshakes. Pretty reasonable prices. It is a great place to go for some yummy ice cream. read more

Best organic homemade ice cream for a reasonable price ever coming from a guy who pretty much lives off ice cream.

After eating at House of Curries for dinner, my friends and I love walking up Solano to iScream for dessert. iScream is super cute, and great for little kids to sit in the small chairs and enjoy ice cream with their parents. My favorite flavours are definitely the toffee and the blueberry. The texture is very creamy, and tastes fresh every time I go. One thing I dislike about iScream is the service. It seems to be inconsistent, and their workers do not seem to smile or enjoy their job. Sometimes it brings down my mood, especially because grabbing a bite of ice cream is supposed to be a fun, innocent activity. Also, maybe I'm just crazy but it feels like they're constantly changing the price. I feel like there was an instance where I went and one scoop was $3.50, and another time it was one scoop for $3.75. I have no idea for sure. Overall, great ice cream, mediocre service. (By the way, my friends and I always feel thirsty after finishing their ice cream. Luckily, they have water at the front by the cash register. Or, prepare a water bottle?) read more

We asked about a kids scoop and they invented the option on the spot in a little topping cup. It was perfect for our toddler! I tasted the toffee, creme brûlée, malted chocolate and cookies and cream. All were good but the malted chocolate and cookies and cream were the best. As somebody who is lactose intolerant, I like to make wise decisions about what ice cream I eat, as getting air-puffed grocery store ice cream isn't quite worth the aftermath. Fenton's on the other hand, is worth it. iScream, however, is somewhere in between. First thing's first: the ice cream. I got a scoop of cookie (cookie something, I don't remember what) over a scoop of meyer lemon on a waffle cone. The cookie ice cream didn't impress me. It reminded me of the difference between Coke and Diet Coke. Compared to other cookie-type ice cream I've had, it was light and not very cookie-like. It didn't seem to resemble the real thing to me. The meyer lemon was pleasantly lemony and satisfied my taste buds despite also being lighter than I like. The waffle cone, was, well, a waffle cone. I don't have much of an opinion about waffle cones. Now for the deal breaker: the service. The first person I saw working here was a rather ditsy, and soon to be discovered, very irritating and unprofessional girl at the counter. Another girl came out of the back and seemed to be somewhat more mature, but when it came to helping the person in front of us make her purchase, it took the two of them to work the cash register. It was like it was their first day on the job. The ditsy employee kept forgetting what people had ordered, even though only one order was taken at a time. Her manner of speech was also unprofessional. She answered the phone while taking our order, I'm assuming didn't properly hear what the person on the other end of the line said, and rather abruptly asked "WHAT?" into the phone. Ditsy is really the only way I can put it. I think she thought she was acting cute but I hate to say that intentionally-acting-dumb-but-not-really-being-a-dumb-person is what came across to me. It was one of those moments in my life when I looked around and felt like I was in the movie Idiocracy, to a degree. The place itself isn't too impressive. I was there at around 7:00 and the place was poorly lit. The layout is a bit awkward. I didn't want to sit inside because I didn't want to show how unimpressed I was to the poor girls who worked there. It's not really their fault that their service is less than to be desired. Some good training would make a world of difference. The outdoor seating was nice. One table, two chairs, on Solano. It's a nice view. If I'm ever on Solano and want an ice cream again, I'll probably come here. It's not bad, but its not as good as it could be. Hopefully the service will be more professional the next time I stop by. read more

I was in Berkeley picking up some glasses being repaired on Solano Avenue, and got a craving for ice cream. There is great ice cream other places in Berkeley, of course, like Tara's, Ici, and Lush Gelato. But as far as I knew from previous visits, Solano was an ice cream desert. Lo and behold, I looked over, and there was IScream, and there was a parking place right in front of it. Clearly, meant to be. I went in and got a small cup with half chocolate, half salted caramel. Delicious, and the people were extremely nice -- always an important thing, because nothing is worse than a side of attitude with your ice cream. They actually have another caramel flavor, burnt caramel, which has a distinct taste quite different from the salted caramel. They were both great, will load up on that one the next visit. read more

My wife loves ice cream and loves this place. It's a cute, tiny shop in Berkeley and has some interesting and tasty flavors. My in-laws have raved about the ginger flavor, while I have enjoyed the pumpkin and my wife loves the mint, burnt caramel and Mexican chocolate. You can't beat the price and the service. read more

Yum! Great adult ice cream. My kids liked the vanilla and the blueberry, OK, no surprise there. But my wife loved her mexican chocolate and I can honestly say I've never tasted ice cream as sophisticated as the salted caramel. A little pricy, but large servings and very friendly staff. We both had been craving ice cream for a long time and we are visiting from out of town and love supporting the little guys. Very good ice cream. I got a homemade hot fudge sundae and he got a mint chip waffle cone. They give you so much with the sundae it could easily be split. Their chocolate ice cream is very different, but in a good way. I normally don't like chocolate ice cream but this had a unique (actual chocolate) taste to it. If we're ever in the area again we will definitely stop :) read more

By far, my favorite ice cream spot in all of the Bay Area! I've been here twice now and the "Burnt Caramel" is too good that I haven't bothered to try, let alone sample any other flavors.
