Well I see a lot of bad reviews of this place so I decided to try it and see, I got a $30 for $15 coupon off of Flavor so we saved a little. The place was empty when we first go there 2 people at the bar at 5:30 in the evening on a Friday. I had a Old Fashion and wife had water to drink, I ordered the cheddar burger with loaded s fries and the wife had a salad with grilled chicken. The drink was very good, while waiting for our food there were 3 flies in the restaurant a lot of people were complaining about the flies in the place. Ya they do need to do something about this have a worker go around with a swatter and take care of them?? I suppose this is too much work for someone that just wants to sit around and not serve anyone because they read on the reviews the flies are bad. You can't make money if no one comes in!! Our food came I didn't read the menu correctly I thought the cheddar burger had bacon on it it didn't so I asked how much for bacon $4 are you serious/??? The burger was good would have been better with bacon of course the fries were not good unless you are a fan of cheese wiz if I had of just got the fries they would have been good. The wife salad she said was really good chicken had great flavor and the dressing was also good it was the vinaigrette. We went on a Saturday afternoon since they open at 4pm for dinner hours. We were one of the only ones there (party of 3) and they only had one waitress/bartender as more customers came in to dine and order drinks to go. As a result, the service was quite slow and my dad didn't get his mai Tao until our entrees were brought to us. We saw a few flies in the dining area that snuck in from outside but didn't seem to bother the staff. The crab dip was okay since the cheese looked like it was just thrown on their and could have used more flavor. I asked for my burger to be medium and it definitely was over cooked. The crab cake dinner was way overpriced and the plates seemed a little small to hold all the food. I only went here because I had a coupon and now I know why. All in all, it was not the best experience for just a few customers in the dining area so they could use some more staff to help with this very fixable issue. read more

Isaac's needs to improve on cleanliness. 1. They sat me at a "clean" table with sugar sprinkled all over. 2. Then they moved me to a table with a dirty glass. The breakfast that would normally be covered in the price of my room, is now something I have to pay for since I'm coming on Memorial Day. This is probably an honest mistake but they nearly charged me for breakfast for 2 people, when it's just me. Good thing I looked over the receipt first before paying. pros: staff is nice. Just got back from Isaac's Sunday breakfast buffet. Very, very disappointing. Waffles were either a soggy mess or too hard to bite into. All the food was cold and subpar. The empty restaurant should have been my first clue. First and last time for me and my husband. I'll stick with The Pier's breakfast buffet (their waffles are perfect, sausage and home fries 100% better, they offer fresh shrimp cocktail, and have a custom omelette bar which my husband loves). read more

The bar was awesome and the bartender was amazing. However, the food was pretty terrible, unfortunately. I asked the server about the rockfish, to which I was told that it was one of the best things on the menu. Holy moly, I hope not. It's "pan sauteed with Old Bay" and it wound up coming out SOMEHOW within like three minutes and it was honestly the most bland piece of fish I've ever eaten. There are a ton of restaurants in the area that do a rockfish dish properly. Try The Lighthouse, who does it topped with crab imperial. The price is not much more than from Isaac's and it's an actual memorable dish. I honestly would not go back to Isaac's if I were to ever stay in the hotel again. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area at a similar price point and with the food being of such poor quality, it doesn't seem worth it to throw caution to the wind after this last experience and spend our money there. I had eaten at Issac's years ago and the food was horrible. I decided to give it another try and had dinner there this past weekend. Nothing much has changed. I should have known when I was seated on a Friday evening and there was only one other couple in the restaurant (and the hotel was packed from a dart Tournament going on for the weekend). I ordered the Veggie Crab Soup ($7.00). They should just call it vegetable soup. I got a very large bowl with a few specs of crab meat and flavored with Old Bay seasoning. I was provided a teaspoon to eat it with and eventually had to ask for a soup spoon. For the mine selection, I ordered the Crab Cake Cob Salad without bacon ($21.00). What I got was a 6 ounce "crab cake" on a plate of romaine lettuce with 1 hard boiled egg sliced and 1/2 avocado. I am from Maryland and have eaten crab cakes my entire life. This was the 2nd worse that I have ever eaten. I know crabs are not in season in Maryland, but that should not be an excuse for a bad crab cake, especially in Solomons. I am not sure where they got the crab meat or if it was just the chef, but it was not very good. I ordered coffee ($2.95) and at least the waitress did make a fresh pot for me. The only reason I give this a 2 star is because the waitress was friendly and my table was clean. Will not be going back anytime soon. read more

According to Isaacs website they offer $2 draft local beers on Fridays. Not true. Bar staff informed us they offer no such thing. When we showed them on Isaacs website that is what is advertised they said they did not even have the adverse beers and they have no specials. The best they would offer was $2 Coors, Bud, Miller no comparison to local draft beers. As local slip holders at a major marina in walking distance I will never recommend Isaacs to slip holders nor transits. Isaacs offers false advertising and leaves staff dumbfounded. read more

She was rude and nasty to us, other guests and especially the workers. We felt so bad for them. She is truly disgusting. Plz do something about her nastiness. I stayed at the Holiday Inn overnight after a wedding and visited the bar at Isaac's to continue to celebrate with other guests. I ordered two beers and gave my credit card to the bartender to keep a tab open. After finishing them up (one for me, one for my partner) I decided I was ready to go to bed and went to close up my tab. The bartender was unable to find my credit card. I get that mistakes happen and are a part of life. If they had lost the credit card and dealt with it reasonably, I would have just been annoyed but accepted it and moved on. But pretty much every stage of this experience I found the staff behavior to be lacking in professionalism. First, when I asked to close up and gave my name, the bartender got another credit card. It was black, my card was blue, so before she even gave it to me I told her it wasn't mine. But it didn't exactly inspire confidence, as I became worried that she had given my card to someone else who was too inebriated to notice. It was a busy point in the night, so she continued to look around for my card a little bit. I described it, she couldn't find it. She started to say things along the lines of, "I never lose credit cards," and, "If it's not here I don't have it," (I don't remember exact quotes but it was stuff along these lines that made me feel like she was blaming me for this instead of taking responsibility). I double checked my wallet to make sure I didn't have it, even though I remembered handing it over to her. I didn't have it, and that kind of defensiveness from her was just really unpalatable. Eventually another employee (I later learned this was the manager) also came out. They both alternated between searching for the card, and continuing to pour drinks for other customers. I began to feel very ignored as I sat there waiting to close out, I was ready to go to my room and go back to bed. It was late (at least for me). So after a little while, I'm not sure how long, I said I needed to go to bed. They said they'd call when they found my card. I went back to my room and called my bank to report the card as lost, because at this point I was certain they had returned it to another patron. Apparently they found my card shortly thereafter. They called my room but I didn't answer because I was, you know, asleep. The next morning I received a call from the hotel front desk. The woman said that I had "left [my] card at the restaurant," and I corrected her to tell her that it was lost by the bartender. She then said, "the charge is still open because your card was declined." I let her know that it was declined because I reported it as lost, because the bartender had lost it. Clearly this was a miscommunication between desk staff and the restaurant and it was pretty insulting. I went to the restaurant to speak to a manager. I was told that they had found my card and it was in their locked safe. I explained that I had already reported it as a lost card and it was cancelled, but this manager made a big deal of saying it was locked up in their safe. So then, the manager who had been on duty the night before comes out to talk to me and retrieve it from the safe. The first manager asked if she needed the key, and she said no. She then appeared to take a key out of a bowl that was right next to the safe on the bar, and use it to open the safe. How secure. The bartender then said that the card had been declined and asked how I'd like to pay. Now again, I bought two beers. I didn't rack up some huge bill. And the amount of hassle that comes with having to change all the places you have a credit card number saved (and not have the card to use for 3-5 days until the new one comes) is not the end of the world, but it is a pain in the ass. I think a pretty normal customer service response in this kind of situation would be for the manager to apologize, strike the bill and write it off. So the fact that they even asked me to pay truly shocked me. Look, service industry sucks, I've been there too, and I'm not generally a "let me speak to your manager" type of person -- I'm happy to let most mistakes roll off my back. But I could not believe I was being asked to pay the $10 or whatever I owed after the slew of what I believe was unintentional but still really unprofessional responses to the whole ordeal. I told the manager that, given the circumstances, I would prefer not to pay (which was so difficult for me -- I seriously never do that). At that point she got it and said she would cover it, but I still just can't believe it took that long to get to that point. Make a mistake, fine, shit happens. But like, go to a reasonable effort to make it right with your customer. read more

Since we're on a budget, we asked to see a menu and when the hostess eventually found us one, the prices didn't seem too outrageous. The three of us were seated at a window table with a nice view of the boats moored outside, and we ordered our beverages and the crab dip appetizer. Well... TRIED to order our beverages. For a place that had half of a menu page dedicated to specialty drinks, they seemed to be out of about 3/4 of them. So my wife settled for a hard cider (probably for the best) while my daughter ordered iced tea (They didn't have hot tea. In a place serves Sunday brunch. What?) and I ordered root beer. At this point we asked the waitress for the WiFi password since, like everyone else, we're addicted to our phones. She didn't know it. She didn't offer to find out, either. However, she DID inform us that we were welcome to ask at the front desk. Wonderful. Thanks for the extra effort. The root beer came back looking more like ginger ale and tasting like root beer scented club soda. Our waitress asked what else I would like instead and I settled for a Coke. She took our dinner orders: chicken sandwich with fries, sirloin steak salad, and the crabcake platter plus a side salad. The crab dip was bubbling around the edges when it arrived... and cold in the center. So we mixed it up and dove in. It was rather bland and could have used a serious application of Old Bay. The accompanying pitas were soft and warm, but there were far too few of them; we asked for more and were charged $2.00 for another eight. We ended up asking for (and using) saltines to finish it; luckily they were free. About halfway through the crab dip (roughly 30 minutes into our "dining experience") our waitress came back to inform my wife that they could not cook the steak for her salad to her medium rare specifications. Never mind that the menu offers a 14 ounce sirloin that can be cooked to desired temperature, and their 8 ounce burgers can be cooked "pink, some pink, or no pink." Evidently the kitchen doesn't have the patience not to overcook a mere 6 ounces of beef. So my wife told her to forget it and she ended up dining on crab dip and some of our daughter's fries. Our daughter's chicken sandwich was huge, hot, and tasty. The fries were hot and fresh. Maybe we all should have stuck with sandwiches. My crab cake platter arrived, served with baby baked potatoes and two decent-sized crab cakes. Now I have lived within a stone's throw of the Chesapeake Bay all of my life, and there are several places around here that make an excellent crab cake. I now know that Isaac's is not one of them. They were bland, used too much filler, contained no lump crabmeat, and even the cocktail sauce ... which I had hoped might help the situation ... was lacking in flavor and heat. At the end of the meal we weren't asked about dessert, and I honestly don't remember if they even offered dessert on the menu. To our waitress' credit, she was good about refilling our tea and Coke. One more thing... When I got up from my chair, it slid out from under me and I got tangled up in it, almost falling. It was pretty loud, as was I, but not a single staff member bothered to ask if I was okay ( Fear not, I'm fine). So based on my experience, my advice is to avoid Isaac's. Unless, of course, all you're looking for is a chicken sandwich, fries, and an overpriced hard cider. Then again, there are better places for those as well. read more

I wouldn't give it any stars if I could. We are staying at the Holiday Inn and have eaten two meals here. The hotel is great but not the food! They have no help in the restaurant. One person waiting and I'm not sure they're not also the cook! Rockfish was dry and bland. Breakfast this morning was disappointing. We had no idea it was in the hotel so it was a tad hard to find for us. We came in the conference side of the hotel which made it even a bit more difficult but we were NOT disappointed. We normally like to sit at the bar, but the bar top itself is small and the area is just open/in the dining room so the ambiance wasn't us, plus it looked like staff, hotel guest or regulars were at most of the chairs. All off the staff was super friendly. We ordered way too much food and it was delicious. I would have like to have come during the day to see the view and maybe sit poolside! read more

This place is par for the course for an in-hotel restaurant. I was here for a two-week class, so was sure to visit every day to unwind in the afternoon. As of March 6, 2017, if you come in on a weekday, you'll have Betty as your bartender. She is awesome and has an amazing memory. She knows what you drink, how you want it, and even what sides you want if you order dinner at the bar. She's funny, and no matter where you're coming from, she'll have something to talk about; great bartender and server. There is a lot of blue collar work to be done in southern Maryland, so that's what you see in a lot of the patrons; no problem there. That's said, Isaac's is not the best on controlling vulgar, hostile drunks though, or keeping them out, I have to say, but this isn't a problem too frequently. Overall, a good spot to hit up 6-8pm, weekdays, because you get amazing service. read more

I go to the Holiday inn pool every summer and usually order from the restaurant and I understand it's has a resort kind of like area however growing up in Virginia Beach this is very small in comparison I can go up the street and order a chef salad at a local liquor store bar and get twice as much for 995 than what I got here at Isaac's for $15 just because it's a hotel doesn't mean they need to go out the prices for lettuce. read more

I'm not sure if something has changed or if the other reviewers just came on a bad night. I was apprehensive at first but so glad we came. Make sure you come in the middle doors of the hotel. Not the front entrance but directly to the left. Walk all the way down that hallway. We started with the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. Topped with fresh tomatos, mozzarella and avocados. These were the best fried tomatoes I've ever tasted. My daughter had the Country Fried Shrimp Basket with a side of Crab Mac. The shrimp basket came with no less than 20 shrimp. My wife had the BLT burger with a fried tomato on top. It came with the tiniest little fries ever. She gave both 4 stars. Finally I had the chicken cordon blue with garlic mashed potatoes. Both were amazing and I wanted seconds!!! We have lived in SoMD for 31 years and Calvert for 6. I've passed Isaacs so many times but I won't be doing that anymore. Do not go to this restaurant! The service is atrocious, the food is ok at best and overpriced. I've stayed at the attached hotel off and on for the last 3 years and have never had a good experience. My most recent visit went like this... I walked up and seated my self as there wasn't anyone visible to direct me and the restaurant was basically empty. After a few minutes I was approached by a woman, by her attire and appearance I thought she was the dishwasher. I ordered a piece of chocolate cake, a scoop of ice cream and a Diet Coke. Small glass of Diet Coke came out quickly but after 15 min with no refill or desert I left. The story is similar on my previous visits. Stay away from this place! Breakfast buffet is pricey ($18 adult), but made very affordable if you use Restaurant.com. The bacon is a bacon lovers dream, but what you really get from Isaacs are ambience and courteous staff. If a sensational view of the adjacent marina and Chesapeake Bay are important, look no further. Most importantly, their wait staff is professional and courteous. The Holiday Inn hotel is fine, just stay the heck out of Isacc's. Terrible service for the second year in a year. We were a table of 7 but we were almost alone in the restaurant. Of the 7 orders they got 3 correct. I got the wings I ordered but they were pretty bad (a couple of spoonfuls of sauce dripped on wings there were cooked hours ago). One person from our group was happy with his meal. Asked for the manager and she starts arguing with us. Next morning the waitress was a mess again. Doesn't write anything down when you order, can't deliver more than one thing per visit to the table, etc. This was the SAME AS LAST YEAR. Though the place had a decent reputation when we went there last night, the Seafood Scampi was literally, a stick of butter with overcooked noodles, and the tiniest scallops I have ever seen - I could stomach about five bites. The crab dip was standard crab dip. The crab imperial is fine. The prime rib was mostly fat. By the time the fat was cut off, it was half its original size. The pictures of the desserts are not accurate - they are tiny and pre-made. The two things on the menu we actually wanted to try - the crab stuffed mushrooms and the vanilla bean cheesecake - are no longer available. The crab mac and cheese is also being phased out. Service was ok. Honestly, I won't go back. The restaurant will do fine, as it is attached to a hotel. Steady stream of patrons who don't care apparently means costs can be cut and quality can go down without any real consequence. read more

Visited Isaac's for Thanksgiving Dinner 2016. The atmosphere started off great. I did have the crab mac & cheese which was awesome! However, I did not have turkey and the vegetable selections were minimal. For the price I paid, I was disappointed. For dessert, I had two slices of the apple crumb pie because it was that good. The dessert options were a bit more plentiful. Why only two stars for the restaurant inside of the Holiday Inn Solomons? Long story short, we came in with a bottle of champagne courtesy of the hotel front desk. Our server, Gloria, came back to the table and informed us that the general manager was inquiring about the bottle being brought into the restaurant. When I turned around to look for him, he was standing behind the bar with his arms crossed in a threatening manner. This immediately set off negativity at the table. Once our representative went over and informed him of the situation, he shook her hand at the end of the conversation. A friendly stop by the table to inquire about the champagne would have sufficed. Gloria, by the way, was amazing. We appreciate her diligence in serving our group and maintaining a happy holiday flavor to our away-from-home dinner. 08/19/16 Not again! The waitress was excellent. We felt sorry for her. There were less than 20 customers at tables. It took a long time to get drinks from the bar. Food wait was even longer and most of it was cold. One meal was sent back for replacement with a hamburger and that took nearly 1/2 hour. The table next to us waited nearly 1 hour from the time they ordered till their food came. The duty manager gave us a round and the deserts as an apology. Sorry but not a good experience. read more

Burger was a big black rock. crab Mac and chili were in microwave bowls my mom had in the 70s, both cold and reheated. 30 dollar rock fish was claimed to be award winning was a store bought frozen joke. chicken cordon blu was 20 dollars was thrown together and cold, as were mashed potatoes that were scooped out of a bucket and reheated.
