Our 3 y/o wasn't sure about it at first, but he eventually liked swinging like a superhero. :) There's only one tire swing, so expect a little line of kids, but worth the wait for those who have never got to experience one of these things before. We parked on the street for this park right across from the entrance. I didn't see a parking lot anywhere, but there was plenty of street parking.

The entire play structure and swings are in the beating sun 100% of the time. Today was a very mild 75 degree early summer day and we went early around 10:45. Within 30 minutes of arrival, the slides were so hot our almost 2 y/o son physically reacted every time he touched them. The park is in a very nice and quiet residential area. There's nothing but street parking, but the streets are wide and not busy. The grounds were very clean and well kept. The bathrooms even had soap AND paper towels - yay! Like others said, this structure is mostly appropriate for a toddler as young as ours. He even did ok on the winding slide. Some slides are so steep that he falls forward even though they're supposed to be geared at toddlers, but all 3 slides here were fine for him. However, the only way to get up are monkey bar-like stairs (skinny metal bars) that no toddler can safely use, then the other side has stairs. The stairs are way too far apart for a young one to do alone. He either had to crawl or we held his hands while he took giant steps lol. If you get bored at this park, there are 2 more within ~5 blocks or less heading west! They're off the same street, too. Just go to the north of the block north of the park and take a left and you'll see 2 others fairly quickly. We'll definitely be back because of how clean and safe it felt.

There's also a running/bike trail so you can exercise and not worry about cars. The Duarte Run Club runs this trail route every Wednesday in the summertime evenings.

My dog is small and gets scared of larger dogs, so he'll start growling. But every time we encountered a large dog, he didn't growl or bark! I was surprised, maybe he sensed the dogs were nice too. I also really appreciate that there's police that drive around and patrol the park area. Made me feel much more safe knowing that if I needed to alert the police of anything, they were nearby.

There's a small dirt walking trail in the perimeter of the park with cool rocks and plants to see along the trail and a huge patch of grass. The grass is always so well-kept and there aren't any bugs. A few benches here and there as well for you to sit and relax. There's a lot of trees so you can sit under them on the grass to enjoy some shade!

During the holidays, this park is decorated in correpondence to the celebration. Pretty cool! Quite peaceful and serene, too! Love the nostalgia atmosphere that it brings! The neat part of this park is that it is situated in front of the Monrovia Library. Its name is so fitting in that case. On Friday nights, they have their Monrovia Street Fair & Market at this park. Please note streets will be blocked and street parking may be limited. I would recommend parking closer to Foothill Blvd or in the Foothills Plaza. Please offer your support to the businesses within the plaza if you should park there. Thank you!
