on the walking path with my son!

We now bring our son's car up to the walking path. He loves it! The terrain is smooth enough for the car's crappy plastic wheels lol. Can't wait to ride bikes with him someday on this path as he continues to grow up.

This park has two tennis courts as well as two full basketball courts. Bathrooms are clean and looks relatively safe. Not a huge park but has pretty solid amenities.

Came across this gem last year and I love it. The walk path to the park is so beautiful. There is so many trees and flowers around and well kept. Doesn't matter the time of the day is always so relaxing to take a walk here. Be careful you make come across some deers from time to time but they mind their busibThe park is very nice and clean. The community takes good care of this place. Thank you .

A nice little park along the Duarte walking path. The park has basketball courts, tennis courts, playground and restrooms. It's a nice area to spend some time with family and friends.

When I first got married, my bride and I lived in east Monrovia, and happened upon this park walking our dogs down the Royal Oaks walking/jogging/biking/horseback-riding path. The park is at the eastern end of the path, and is a rational turn-around point for joggers and dog walkers. The park itself is well maintained and generally self-policing with lots of families and regular sheriff patrols. There are picnic facilities, a play structure for the kiddies, tennis courts, basketball courts, a small "rec center" and restrooms. Across the street, the park continues with a few covered tables and an expanse of grass for soccer, running wild, or playing fetch with your canine companion. Royal Oaks is marked 25 mph, and there is a pretty wide berth of green space between park and street, but watch your kids-- children can be fast, and so can cars on this street, despite traffic enforcement. As a bonus for walkers, runners and bikers, try challenging yourself by going up La Loma Ave between the two parks. It is a steep dead end street that will definitely get your heart pumping. There is a great view at the top on clear days, and it adds some nice cardio to the otherwise flat Royal Oaks trail. This park (or Encanto park about 1/2 mile east) is also a good bathroom stop if you're biking the San Gabriel River trail.

This little park in Duarte is nice and generally fairly maintained. There is a nice playground with swings, a few dirty benches, a few grills and a little gazebo with picnic tables, 2 tennis courts, a rec center and a basketball court. (There are also bathrooms here, next to the basketball court) Great place to bring little kids, have a picnic and maybe even have a little outdoor birthday gathering. This place is also a nice place to walk your dog. But this place is not very safe to go to at night. Throughout the year, a handful of city events take place here, including the route 66 parade celebration, 4th of July fireworks and the Halloween carnival. There really isn't much else to say about this place except that it's just okay.

Great park for those that like to play sports, are looking for a large area of grass for your pets to play, or just a place to hang out and picnic. Came on a Saturday afternoon, and pretty much had the whole park to ourselves. We brought our 2 dogs as 3 parrots, laid some blankets out and brought our basketball to shoot around. Soon the park started to liven up, parents were playing tennis with the kids, kids came to play basketball, and parents and kids attended a party of some sort. I never saw and scary or suspicious people, and people we met were friendly. The bathrooms were very clean, with seat covers, toilet paper, and even mirrors. There were lots of places to sit in the sun, as well as in the shade. We will definitely be back with some tennis racquets! Update: played tennis at night and it was great, except the wiring for the lighting needs to be checked. Sometimes we had to play with the switch, other times the lights would come right on. Switch for the bball courts work just fine.

Neat little park with a couple basketball courts and tennis courts. Nice grassy areas for leisure and they even hold special events at the park just check website for more info.

Nice bed. Store had friendly environment. Brian was very patient to explained to us about the bed and how Todo the fixture well.

Love this park. It's quiet, clean, and it only takes me 2 minutes to get here. I can take my 1 year old on walks without feeling cramped. There's trees lining most of the way so it has nice shaded areas while walking the trail. And there's not usually many people there, so my kid can play in the playground without having to take turns.

Nice little park in Duarte to take your kids for some playtime. Enough playground equipment to satisfy your little ones for an hour or two of play. There is a grassy area to run around in or just plop yourself down for a picnic. There are also a couple of basketball courts, tennis courts, and poles set up for a volleyball net. There is also a building on site, which I think houses community classes. The day we were there a karate class was going in. Overall, pretty well maintained. Would be a nice place to also park your car if you wanted to walk/bike/run on the trail.

This park felt like a comfortable adventure. Did I feel safe? Yes. I primarily saw groups upon groups of families. Many were holding celebrations and gatherings. The location felt clean & well-maintained, and it's one of the few parks that had security cameras from up above. What utilities? There's a large, fun playground area. It has nets to climb, a plastic rock wall, and plenty of slides. There's a park exercising machine area nestled by the playground, and there's a basketball hoop. There's also a volleyball area, baseball field, and concrete cornhole boards for tossed beanbags. There's a restroom, dog waste plastic bag station, water fountains, and many public picnic tables for gatherings. I especially liked how these concrete tables had cover and an installed grill station. What are the negatives? There's no clear walking trail. However, visitors can wander freely since there's a spiderweb of concrete pathways. It also lacks multiple basketball courts, tennis courts, or other familiar areas. Overall, Irwindale Park is scenic, beautiful, and clean. It's a wonderful destination for a family to lounge and relax. The area is well-maintained, and I felt happy as I observed an Irwindale Squirrel pose in front of me for the camera. I enjoyed my visit. 4.7 out of 5

The lake itself got its name in 1887 from a judge in Pasadena who always raved about the crystal clear waters that were prime for fishing. It really had its heyday in the 1920s through the 1950s. That's when all the construction that you see around the lake happened. Sadly, after the 1960s, it basically started to decay and was not kept up. You can find an article from 1990 that the LA Times published complaining about the condition of the place that you still see today. You'll see graffiti, trash, broken stairs, tons of algae, all sorts of stuff that you wouldn't see many decades ago. I would love to see this place cleaned up and have some national park-level structuring to it. Swimming is prohibited, but you can fish and it's a short walk around the perimeter of the lake. There is also a small café close by for groceries and food, and there are many different campsite options available from cabin to ground. I would love to see this place get the treatment it deserves someday, and I would suggest to all Southern Californians, it really is a beautiful place to visit, and even after driving 15 minutes up the road, you feel like you are in a totally different place and for once I was happy to have no cell phone service. I have also come across some ladies who do yoga exercises. For those who shoot hoops, there is a half basketball court. I arrived on a Saturday (around 10:20AM). This location is open from 5AM to 10PM. Did I feel safe? Yes. It looks well-maintained and clean. Only a few families were here, and they were celebrating an occasion and taking advantage of the playground. What utilities? There's a colorful, new playground. I liked that it had a spinning wheel/carousel. There was about one public table, one restroom, and a water fountain. There was also a kid-sized basketball hoop. It's not a court. What are the negatives? There's no space to walk or exercise. It's an extreme bare minimum. This "park" felt like a play-set built in an affluent neighbor's backyard. This is a spot for local residents. Also, the parking is bad for visitors; there's no parking lot. Visitors park on the side of the road; sign says, "No Parking Thursday - 7AM to 11:30AM." Overall, Rancho Park is a quaint curiosity. It's well-maintained, but if it ever gets busy, you'll have zero room to do anything. At the very least, there's nice shades from trees. If bored, you can just lay on the grass. 3.5 out of 5

There's a pretend airplane for kids; there's a small tropical playground where toddlers can run into a cat's mouth; and there's a lot of nets for climbing. This location is open from 5AM to 10PM. Did I feel safe? Yes. This park only had families with children. It's also one of the West Covina Parks that confidently post their rules. There's many signs labeled "Park Watch" to keep residents safe. What utilities? There's two main playgrounds. One play ground has an airplane that kids can climb into. That same playground has nets where they can freely climb; the floor is spongey foam, so they have a soft landing. The other playground is tropical and fenced. Toddlers can run near plastic trees, and there's a plastic cat with an open mouth where they can sprint through. The location also has a fenced baseball field; there's a public shaded patio with tables; and there's public park gym equipment equipped with umbrellas for shade. There's also a restroom and water fountains. What are the negatives? This location doesn't feel very pet friendly. I didn't see any pet waste bags, and there's not really a walking area. There's a possible concrete walking loop, but visitors will be walking on the sidewalk. Also, it lacks many common utilities (example: no basketball courts, no tennis courts, etc). Overall, Palm View Park squeaks into a 5 Star because it feels memorable for families. The playgrounds are very adorable, and I like how there's beautiful, big trees near the seating area.
