This time we were only able to have snack because we were going to a party with food shortly after. We had egg rolls that were served very and crispy with great sweet and sour sauce. We also had the chicken wing basket. I'm here to tell you that those wings are amazing. No breading, which I love. The sauces were excellent. I highly, highly recommend the bourbon sauce, I could drink it, it's so good! Also worth mentioning were the Thai chili peanut sauce and the garlic Parmesan sauce, but the bourbon!!! Prices were reasonable and I for certain will go back to sample more of the menu when we can have an actual meal.

We drove up and we were the only customer there but it was a Thursday lunch. We had a delightful waitress that was very friendly and engaged in a nice conversation. I ordered a small salad with bacon and blue cheese and pistachios. It was absolutely delicious. I also ordered a cup of their daily soup, which was also homemade and very good. I am gluten-free so this was a great meal for me. My husband got cod sandwiches and homemade chips which he was happy with. My daughter got a large Caesar salad which she also thought was very good. My daughter got a fluffernutter after dinner drink which she thought was totally amazing! We decided that we have to come back next year when we go to Chetek on vacation again. We want to try supper next time. The restaurant is beautiful and clean as a pin inside. You won't be disappointed give this place a try.

A full bar, solidly poured drinks and accommodating servers allow you to settle in. A menu with enough choices to satisfy everyone. Our group mostly ordered the smoked chicken wing special. My side became a shareable for the table. We finished up with some dessert drinks. They were great and put the exclamation point on our visit. Definitely consider this place when you are hungry and in the area!

I've also had the French toast, which is probably one of my favorite things there. The (pecan) waffle is also a highlight, even though I don't usually like waffles, but I like this one. The sausage links are my favorite protein there. Even though the omelet is a popular choice, it's personally not my favorite. Over all food is 9/10 Service: All the waitresses are friendly and you get your food fairly quickly. I love that they all wear matching T-shirts. 8/10 Ambience: it's a little old fashioned but that adds to its charm. It very much gives classic diner feel. They have booths and tables and also a counter. 8/10 Over all: maxine's is definitely a Rice Lake staple and serves delicious food no matter what you order.
