We were celebrating a friend's birthday and he decided to celebrate at a Supper Club…read more Lehman's is definitely an old school Supper club. The main dining room could use a refresh. It reminded me of a conference room. Our server was Amanda who was very friendly and attentive. She offered some nice suggestions off the menu as well. Two in our group ordered the whisky old fashioned which they both liked and I ordered a dirty martini. The martini was made properly but served in a glass versus a martini glass. Kind of strange and it really does make a difference in the taste when served in a proper martini glass. We were provided with a fruit tray and crackers to start. For appetizers, we ordered the green pepper rings and the cheese curds. I liked the green pepper rings. Like an onion ring but with green peppers. Cheese curds were your average cheese curds. For dinner I ordered the Cajun Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo - Grilled Cajun chicken in a pesto alfredo sauce topped with tomatoes $20. It was actually a large portion snd I took home leftovers. Chicken was a little tough but the flavor was very good. Dinner came with a basic salad and choice of soup. I ordered the French onion soup. There was a strange seasoning in the soup so it was not my favorite. My husband ordered the Barbeque Baby Back Pork Ribs. The finest in ribs prepared in our own sauce 27.75. He said they were very good. Our friends ordered a fish special. They didn't say anything but neither finished their entree. My husband had a taste and said it was a little rubbery. They have an extensive desert list, all homemade deserts. For desert we ordered Peanut Butter Cheesecake Rich with a chocolate ganache and graham cracker crust. $7. This was delicious. Since it was our friend's birthday the staff came out and sang happy birthday which we thought was very nice. After dinner we headed to the lounge for an after dinner drink. Our bartender Kristy was very friendly and fun. She shared a lot of the restaurants history with us and offered to take our picture. She was excellent. I found the prices to be very reasonable for a supper club. If we go back, I would choose to sit in the lounge or at the bar. The atmosphere is so much nicer than the main dining room.

The condos are spacious but there are too many silly rules and requests to follow for a "resort." These include: *dishes - there's a note inside the kitchen that says the dishes have been "washed" but not sanitized.. wtf?! Like thanks for rinsing dishes and putting unsanitary utensils back in the drawers. That's sure normal.. not. You have to wash the dishes provided BEFORE using them. THEN they ask you to clean the kitchen up before departure and clean all dishes. Why do WE clean it? Isn't this a "resort?" *towels - they give you x amount of towels.. and also have a note that if you need more, you have to bring your own. How accommodating! *trash - you have to take out your own trash before you check out. Huh?! At a resort?! Ok. *linens - the bed linens are so sad. They're thin and old and i saw some strands of hair on the comforter. Barf. It's pretty pricey for what you get, and i wish they'd take it up a notch to make it worth something for guests. It felt like the owners have no idea about hospitality these days and charge guests way too much for the rentals, so much so that guests have to put in work themselves while on "vacation."

But, upon making it to my 80th birthday, and getting back to the cabin, we decided on a rewarding trip to a Wisconsin Supper Club was in order. Again, Kincaid's did not disappoint ! Service was pleasant, considerate and attentive without being cloying. We all ordered Prime Rib and it was absolutely excellent: done to order; trimmed to minimize fat and gristle; tender, very tasty and consistent across all individual plates. The sides were all done well and offered with a variety of selections. The salad bar was fresh, clean and more than ample for any appetite. Soups were outstanding. I've worked and traveled for too many decades and my experience with Prime Rib as my 'go to' meal has left me with a very critical palate. Kincaid's begins with a good cut of beef, trims it well, and roasts it correctly resulting in Kincaid's being my preferred choice for a Prime Rib. Pricing is always a consideration and value for what you spend is really quite fair and reasonable at Kincaid's. I will be returning soon and sincerely recommend a visit to Kincaid's in Rice Lake.

The only thing odd was that the clam chowder was spicy - - I had my husband taste it in case my taste buds were tricking me, but he thought maybe they put tabasco in it?? The chicken alfredo is something we would not order again. The queen cut of prime rib was much larger than we anticipated and it was well-seasoned and tender. It's also really nice that they serve prime rib nightly, instead of other places that only offer it on Saturday nights. Our waitress was good through us getting our food and then disappeared; it took forever for us to get our bill and a to-go box so we could hit the road and move on with our night.

There's nothing else quite like this classic supper club in the Stanley/Thorp area. This place is great for what it is. Worthy of 5-stars, especially when compared to the other options in the surrounding area (and I've eaten at most of them over the past 15-years). Please give'em some love and attention. I don't think towns like Stanley should ever lose places like Kutzee's. It's not much from the outside, but warm, classic log cabinny feel inside. You're welcomed in to a cozy bar area just inside the front door. I really wanted to hang at the bar when we walked in, alas, our hangries were getting the better of us, so we opted directly into the dining area. Our server was crazy attentive and on the mark. Well spoken, and very helpful. Food is classic supper club fare. Steaks, fish (deep fried and broiled). Baked potatoes, hash browns, fries. You know the drill. It's all filling and hangry quashing. If I had to be super nit picky I could give Kutzee's a few little knocks here and there - The minimum selection of call gins (2), bourbons (1), the unidentifiable wines by the glass (no wine by the bottle), the pre-portioned sauces and sour cream in plastic cups with plastic lids and pre-packaged salad dressing pouches are all slightly annoying. Though all are pretty forgivable and understandable given the size and style of the restaurant. Again, I'm admittedly being nit picky. Kutzee's could easily slide upscale a little tiny bit by having small fresh pepper mills and better quality (non-iodized) salt on the table, but again forgivable and understable. Our steaks were cooked on the mark, medium rare. I have no complaint with that! Half of the places in the big city can't even seem to get that right, so kudos to you Mr. Chef-man. You made our night with that small skill. On the flip side, the steaks could have been better seasoned with fresh pepper and salt prior to cooking, but the generous amount of butter added after they came off the grill helped temper that a bit. I reminisced about not having the classic supper club things I remember from my youth like the pickle relish tray and cracker basket. What I don't miss is pickled herring. ha Both the bartender (owner?) and server were extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Service was on the mark. The prices, for this big city boy, were more than acceptable too. Again I have minor quibbles, but with prices like these, big city boy isn't going to complain much. I left Kutzee's feeling sated and happy that we found someplace we'd be extremely happy to go back to the next time(s) we're in Thorp and Stanley. And our wallets didn't feel too much lighter after the experience either. Yet another check mark in the win column for Kutzee's. My final thought is this place is a secret and that's too bad! The 30-something front desk clerk at the AmeriVu hotel in Stanley didn't even know Kutzee's existed when I asked him about it. If Kutzee's invited hotel staff up for comp'd meals, I bet the future business payback would be more than worth the expense.

The menu still offered a reasonable selection. Unfortunately, the soup our server thought was available wasn't being served either. The food we ordered was very good: a Prime Rib Sandwich, a Mushroom Swiss Burger cooked medium-rare, and a Chicken Pecan Salad. The sandwiches came with truffle fries. Everyone liked their choices. The prime rib sandwich had a nice, thick slice of actual prime rib. The salad was fresh and flavorful, with a generous portion. Got some ice cream for dessert, Kemp brand. That was just okay. Service: We had two servers. One took our order, and another handled the rest of the meal. We weren't sure what happened, but it would have been better if someone had let us know about the switch. Both provided good service, given the limited menu and confusion over the soup offerings. Atmosphere: The place sits right on Lake Wissota and offers a large dining room and outdoor seating. We chose a table inside, but a few hardy souls were out on the patio with propane heaters providing some extra warmth. On the way to the restroom, I passed through what looked like a private party room. It seemed to need some TLC and cleaning.
