    Fish plates and sides

We had a great meal here after a long hike. Retro decor that borders on downscale but the food was excellently prepared from quality ingredients. The old-fashioned soup and salad bar was right out of 1995 (in a good way) in the selection of and appearance of the food. You will not regret getting the fish! The soup was also excellent. As seen in the photo, portions are generous. Service was warm but not distracting. Tables were widely spaced letting us get cozy and have private conversations. We started early, and watched it get quite busy by 5:45.

Food: This is probably the best Mexican around. I ordered…read morethe chimichanga and it exceeded all my expectations. I would highly recommend, especially because it comes with rice and beans. The beef inside tasted very authentic, not to mention delicious. my Sister also got the burrito and enjoyed it a lot. It was very big. The complementary chips and salsa are also a highlight because it's the only salsa I actually like. They also have a small complementary topping and dip bar where you try all kinds of different salsas and other dips and also grab lettuce and limes for you entrée. Over all: food is 9/10 Service: As soon as we walked in a waitress came up to us and seated us. We did not have to wait. She asked us what we wanted to drink. We both got water, but it had lemons in it so it felt fancy. We got our drinks and we're able to order fairly quickly. After we ordered our meal also came very quickly. Our server was very nice and smiley and we got checked on a few times. (Once when we went here our server had this really cool mustache and it honestly just made the whole experience better.) over all: service 9/10 Ambience: The environment is very nice, like if you dress up fancy, you wouldn't feel out of place but you also feel it wouldn't feel out of place if you dressed casual. It doesn't feel cramped but it also isn't overly big. They have lights on the ceiling that moved to the beat of the music that's quietly plain, which is very neat. The fake plants on top of the lights dangling down at a very neat effect. Makes me feel like I'm in Mexico! Over all: 9/10 Over all: Would highly recommend La Authentica (especially the chimichangas) whether your dining alone on a date or as a family

The only thing odd was that the clam chowder was spicy - - I had my husband taste it in case my taste buds were tricking me, but he thought maybe they put tabasco in it?? The chicken alfredo is something we would not order again. The queen cut of prime rib was much larger than we anticipated and it was well-seasoned and tender. It's also really nice that they serve prime rib nightly, instead of other places that only offer it on Saturday nights. Our waitress was good through us getting our food and then disappeared; it took forever for us to get our bill and a to-go box so we could hit the road and move on with our night.

Our waitress (who ended up being the owner) sat us and we told her we'd like some water. After waiting another twenty minutes the rest of our party arrived and sat down. After waiting about ten minute we all went to the bar to see if we could coast get water. I saw our waitress and asked the bartender to direct her to our table. She came shortly after and took our order. We all ordered and another person in our party asked for water. My boyfriend then asked for extra tarter and lemon which never came with his food, my friend never got her water. We wouldn't have gotten drinks if we would t have gone to the bar ourselves to get them. Our food arrives and my prime was completely rare I sent it back and when it returned it looked microwaved and was 1000% well done. Zero pink in it all all. While my friends ate their food I ate my salad bar and auggies waiting for our waitress (who is the owner!!!!) but she was nowhere to be found. She finally came back and my firmed asked for her bill and I told her to please take my prime off of the bill because I hadn't taken a single bite of my microwaved overdone food. She said okay and walked away. After waiting another ten minutes my friends went yo the bar to look for a to go box for his food at the bar instead of waiting even longer for her. When she finally came back she refused to take the prime off, I offered to pay for the salad bar and potatoes I ate. She still refused and told us she was the owner and we didn't know what we were talking about and that we should just stay home insisted of coming back. GLADLY. If I could give zero stars I would.

She always talked about it and would eat here any time she was back in the area. I hoped to visit with her someday. She was supposed to go in July 2025 with some family, but was sick and not able to make the trip from her home in KC. Unfortunately she recently passed away, and our family gathered in Wisconsin for her memorial service. Pine Ridge was so gracious and accommodating and opened early for about 30 of us to visit and have grandma's favorite fried fish experience after we had her service. It was unbelievably good, and I now know why grandma loved coming to Pine Ridge all those years. Nothing better than being with family enjoying amazing food. The staff was so kind and accommodating, the restaurant was beautiful, and none of us left hungry. Until next time!

Were told there were no bread sticks for the escargot. It came covered in cheddar cheese instead of gorgonzola. Weird. Then we waited an hour and 45 minutes for our entrees. Also just have to say every time we have been there recently the same bartender has been very unfriendly. Can't crack a smile, stern, seems unhappy. Will try again, but really hope it is better next time.
