Not enough good things can be said about Lona's for a Northwoods breakfast or lunch. Hearty, delicious fare, freshly prepared, and the BEST caramel rolls. Long may Lona reign!

Great little diner off Hwy 53 in Haugen! We stopped to fuel up before going snowshoeing in Sarona. They have a wide selection of breakfast and lunch items. Side note, they also have a cheese case and you can order cheese plates to be made! Staff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered breakfast on this occasion and it was delicious! I had a garden omelet which was a generously sized and came with wheat toast. The omelet was thin, full of veggies and little cubes of ham. It was very good, probably one of the best omelets I've had in awhile. I was also impressed with the giant bottle of Cholula they had. Often times up north places will only have Tabasco but they had a whole selection of hot sauces to choose from. My snowshoeing date had eggs, bacon and pancakes. The bacon was mouthwatering, it was so perfectly cooked it could have been fake. Pancakes were also divine. Everything was homemade and very reasonable priced. They don't take credit cards but there is an ATM on site. All in all the whole experience was fantastic. Can't wait to return when in the area. Recommend for any passers-by!

Everyone found something on the menu that was of interest: rib eye steak with potatoes lyonnaise, grilled pork chops with fries, chicken kiev with fries, grilled walleye with steamed broccoli and one of the specials pork saurkraut & dumplings. The waitress was friendly answering our questions. The offerings at the salad bar was modest but everything was fresh. The entrees arrived just as we finished the salads. I had the pork chops which were thick cut and grilled just right to be juicy. It was delicious with or without the applesauce. Based on what the others said... The steak was substantial and cooked perfectly to medium rare. It was a tiny bit tough but was delicious. The chicken was hot and buttery while the fries were plentiful, toasty and well seasoned. The walleye was fantastic. She asked for grated parmesan to season the broccoli and it was brought out very quickly despite a busy dining room. The pork was moist, tender and flavorful. With drinks (some iced tea, some alcohol), the meal was a bit over $20 per person with leftovers for the next meal. Great meal and we all agreed we would dine here again.

The bar area that we walked through seemed like a great place to gather and enjoy a cold beverage. My wife ordered the grilled shrimp and she said it was some of the best she has had in a long time. I ordered the t-bone steak and it was cooked the way I ordered it and came with a lot of Montreal steak season on it but it did taste just fine. Our server kept the kids drinks full as well as our beers full. Before we left we got to meet the owners and both of them where very nice and shared some information about their great smoked meats they're so proud of. We will be back to try this out as we don' t live too far away.

The food is a step up from the typical "bar" food you find in the north woods. The pulled pork is wonderful (sandwich and nachos). Cheese curds come with two dipping sauces, ranch and chipotle-ranch choices. The broasted chicken is my favorite in the area, but not served on Fridays. Fridays they have a fish fry. They have a dining area that is separate from the bar area, both serve drinks and food. The restaurant is clean and there is a good atmosphere. We will be back.

She always talked about it and would eat here any time she was back in the area. I hoped to visit with her someday. She was supposed to go in July 2025 with some family, but was sick and not able to make the trip from her home in KC. Unfortunately she recently passed away, and our family gathered in Wisconsin for her memorial service. Pine Ridge was so gracious and accommodating and opened early for about 30 of us to visit and have grandma's favorite fried fish experience after we had her service. It was unbelievably good, and I now know why grandma loved coming to Pine Ridge all those years. Nothing better than being with family enjoying amazing food. The staff was so kind and accommodating, the restaurant was beautiful, and none of us left hungry. Until next time!

We've been loyal customers of Pine Ridge for over 10 years, which makes this review especially…read moredisappointing to write. We only visit a few times a year, since Pine Ridge is a highlight of our vacation spot, which made this visit even harder to swallow. The restaurant changed ownership recently, and based on this visit, that change has not been for the better. Things started oddly: before we'd even ordered, the host came to collect our menus, asking if we already knew what we wanted. We said yes since we're regulars, but in hindsight, that was the start of the problem. We then waited over two hours for our entrees. Our waiter explained they were slammed with large parties in the front room, the same parties who'd been given our menus, and who ordered and were served before us. We flagged down the owner about the wait. He called my mother-in-law "love" and said, "well, we're a very popular restaurant." When we mentioned we'd been coming for a decade and never experienced this, he replied, "if it only happens once in 10 years, that's not bad," adding, "at least your food will be fresh." It wasn't. The au gratin potatoes are usually a generous, reliable side but they arrived as a single small spoonful, looking unappetizing. The owner's explanation: "it's just missing a little paprika." The prime rib and green beans were cold, and the pork chop was overcooked. When we raised these issues with him again, he claimed he'd already apologized. He hadn't and we reminded him our menus had gone to the large parties, who got their food first. We understand restaurants have bad nights. But the owner's lack of respect and rudeness is why we won't be returning. Others may have a fine experience but if anything goes wrong, don't expect anyone to make it right. It'll feel more like "you get what you get."
