Chicken fried chicken french fries brown gravy garlic toast

#76/2022 Interstate 85 sitting midway between Atlanta Georgia and Greenville South Carolina is the small little Hamlet of Carnesville, Ga. This is one of the older Petro travel centers been here for many years. Still has a full service iron skillet hours 7 days a week for the most part 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.. Like any other iron skillet the buffets are long gone in the post covid world and the menus are all the same everything is uniform. I came in unfortunately the girls were working as hard as I could but the truck hadn't arrived they were out of most of a lot of the dinners they had no soup but it's okay most of thier soups have onions and evil carrots anyway, there was no fish which is what I really wanted the white fish dinner they were also out of salmon and they were out of spaghetti so that eliminated chicken parm. I didn't really want a burger so I opted for the chicken fried chicken hadn't had that for a while. Similar to a chicken fried steak which is a cube Patty flattened out breaded and deep fried the chicken fried chicken is the same thing only it's a giant white meat chicken breast which is then breaded and deep fried. I've had a taste for French fries so I did go with the french fries and brown gravy on all of it didn't want the white country gravy today. Food was excellent I had no complaints at all I asked for a salad and because I'm a little fussy she pre-made it the way I wanted it just like I like it just lettuce cheese tomato cucumber croutons and I had French dressing. So because of the excellent above service and working hard even with the limited menu because there's nothing you can do about it when the truck doesn't show up till the next day you run out of stuff some people were bitching and moaning but hey more power to those particular kind of folk. So definitely and above average iron skillet I will come back here when I'm rolling on up interstate 85 towards the Carolinas out of Atlanta. My only little pet peeve but I'm not going to change the stars is TA and Petro corporation and all the restaurants for soft drinks are 350 I'm not a big water drinker with meal. So that being said it's kind of like the price of a bottle of beer LOL even though you're getting no alcohol. Why is that high I'm not too sure for a fountain drink you do get free refills but anything over about two and a quarter anymore is kind of exorbitant but it's the way it is. All and all keep up the good work this is a decent iron skillet.

customer service mad good. food mad good. didnt think it would be this great. it was pretty busy inside. ordered online. came in 35mins later. food was ready. workers were attentive and spread thin of course so have patience like me. definitely coming back. everything was fresh and quality. Online ordering was closed 8pm. please tip what you would want to be tipped if u can. and cash bc the irs be doing too much. corporate america pays waiters less than minimum wage bro. corporate america isnt going to take care of our ppl so we gotta do it. word of the day: eventually someone will need to be the bigger person to end the madness.

I ordered my food online at 11:20. The wb page said my food would be ready at 11:45. I was there at 11:40. At 11:45 I went to the cashier and sign my receipt. I waited to 12:27 to get my to go order, after I wanted my order canceled. I don't know it taste yet because my clock was running, but I should have been compensated for the wait.

One of the better Petro's. I was shocked that the food was this good. Well seasoned and special items that are normally just heated canned foods. Delicious homemade rolls too. Today they had liver, chicken and pork chops. Very good and the server was excellent. I'll be stopping here again.

You can literally ring the grease outta your hamburger. Place needs some updates as well.

The food is served buffet-style and the offerings are Southern home cooking. The star of the show is the fried catfish, which on my recent visit felt like it melted in my mouth. Chicken, country ham tilapia, and Brunswick stew are among other offerings. There are also desserts. My only complaint on our recent visit was that the Brunswick stew was only lukewarm. On the night we visited, there was a bluegrass band for entertainment, but ambiance is sparse. This is a place that you come to eat, not to stare at the walls. Service is friendly, but being a buffet place, there isn't a lot of interaction aside from drinks and refills.

It's a buffet, of mostly fried food, seafood. They had some really great green beans, fried okra, fried shrimp, fried fish, Brunswick stew, and biscuits. There were some other things to try, including a couple of cobblers for dessert. there were some nice young ladies, cleaning off the tables and being active in the dining room, which was nice. They were watching to make sure our drinks were filled. The food was hot and good. I'm not sure if they redid the decorations inside, but they have some old Timey things on the walls, kinda like a country place! You do have to wait in line and go through the buffet, but everybody was courteous. It's definitely worth the money.

There is a nice big parking lot so that's good. Walk in and see all the fish. The decor is trophy mounts and the counter has seafood on ice for you to look at. Order at the counter and they give you cups for your self serve beverage and a number for your table so someone can bring out your food when it is ready. Megan and I both ordered off the specials menu. I had the flounder and shrimp platter, Megan had the salmon Bahn mi. My plater was was one thin flounder filet (flounder are flat so that's ok), five shrimp, four hush puppies, and fries. The flounder was corn meal breaded and kinda bland. The shrimp were not shrimpy. Not bad but not good and with a thicker batter. The hush puppies were small but very good. The fries were batter coated and looked like typical food service fries. Megan's sandwich looked good but the salmon was over cooked and tasted earthy. Salmon is a fish, salmon live in in the ocean. How are they earthy? Anyway Megan said the best part of her meal was the fries. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing. This place gets a lot of love but I'd eat at Captain D's for better food for way less money. My plate was $27 and Captain D's is currently advertising a fish and shrimp plate for $7. I will be reviewing that one soon.
