After touring the Currahee Military Museum, we enjoyed the country cookin' lunch buffet at this nice place in Toccoa, Georgia. A great deal at $13 per person and that included iced tea! The service was top notch even though this was a buffet. We especially liked the fried chicken, beef tips over rice, fried green tomatoes, fried okra, Brunswick stew, and veggies. We are camping at a nearby state park and may go into back into town Friday night for the seafood they put on the buffet then. If you like country cooking, don't miss this place folks! read more

M&Js is a hot spot in our little town! It's a good "bang for your buck" facility, and the food is tasty, especially if you have a taste for some good, country soul food. I am also a fan of their salad bar, always fresh and the first thing I head for. Fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, cobblers with a little ice cream are other things that I look forward to. Great soul food buffet for the same price at a meat and three in Atlanta. Food was delicious and the service was good. They had 4 meat and about 8 veggie choices if I recall correctly. There are also two soups available as well as a salad bar. For dessert, there is an ice cream dispenser as well as some other classics such as pecan pie and banana pudding along with assorted cookies. The Pecan Pie was great! read more

We took my son out for a post graduation luncheon and he heard good things about M&J Home Cooking Buffet. So that's where we went. It was an older looking place from the outside, but when we stepped inside it was a beautifully wooden decor from floor to ceiling. The dining area was clean and well laid out. The hostess was friendly and pulled tables together for our large group. The restaurant is completely buffet style, which is evident from their name. Once you're seated and the waitress takes your drink order, get yourself over to the buffet. They have a salad bar, a hot bar, a dessert bar and ice cream station. I really tried to sample everything, but I failed miserably. I found the meatloaf to be outstanding and the fried chicken to be superb. This is where I got hung up and ate a lot of these items. Okay, I did hit the dessert bar and the banana pudding was out of this world. The sweet tea was just right in sweetness. The waitress was amazing, she removed my plates continually, so I could go get more food items and she kept the sweet tea flowing. I found the employees to be highly customer oriented in the way they kept the buffet stocked and maintained and the way they interacted with the customers. It was a really enjoyable eatting experience and I would recommend it strongly. However, you better come ready to eat, pacing yourself is essential in enjoying all the great food choices available. I think this is the best buffet I've ever had. This is not your run of the mill buffet place, and it shows. Went there on a Sunday at the little bit off hour of 2pm and it was still almost completely packed out, mostly churchgoer crowd there, we were ushered right to our booth and the waitress was very attentive from there. The décor is kind of cabin style on the inside, pine wood finished, for a buffet definitely a4 star there. The food, the food. Now you don't come here if you want to stay healthy and have a craving for the fried food, this will do you in. But, I'd have to say this is probably the best fried pork I've had. Fried chicken was tender and juicy, all the fixins (mashed potatoes, gravy, corn) did not taste canned or bulk made. They do offer a baked chicken, but I was too filled up on the fried food to venture at it. they also have a wide variety of desserts, from banana pudding, pies, chocolate chip cookies, and an ice cream machine to top it all off. The menu is slightly different every day. You can get a calendar of the offerings at the cash register. This place definitely will see me again! However note that they are only open 11-3! read more
