I had lunch here last Saturday while in town. It was cold and rainy and this place was packed. Commerce Country is on the end cap of a strip center very close to the interstate with plenty of parking spaces available. It's only open for breakfast and lunch and after eating here I understand why it's so popular. If fact while waiting in the short line at the counter a couple of ladies next to me asked if this was my first visit here and after I said yes they told me that I was going to enjoy it. They weren't kidding. I went through the line at the counter selecting my meat and veggies served from a steam table. This is a meat and two restaurant and from the selection on the menu, I chose roast beef with mashed potatoes and black eye peas. I asked for gravy on the spuds and they put some white gravy on them. The food on my plate was delicious. The roast beef even had some sliced carrots added in and was tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes with cream gravy was obviously homemade and made me happy. Finally the black eye peas were very good too. This meal was of a "home cooking" level of quality and made me wish I had added a dessert because I knew it would have been excellent too. This meal was easily a 4 star experience but what pushed it over the top to a 5 for me was the price. My meat and two was $8.49! No wonder this place is so popular. asked about any breakfast specials and decided to go with eggs, bacon and grits with a biscuit plus coffee (which I love they included to coffee with breakfast! Happy be didn't get charged another 3 bucks for it). But that was just about $10 per person. Friendly staff, they were coming around often to refill coffee etc. food was plentiful and really good. If you're in a hurry and need a quick bite to eat, this is your place. If you want to get a few breakfast sandwiches to go, this is your place. Lots of seating and friendly environment. As others have written this place draws a crowd for good home cooked meals. We stopped by on a Saturday at 11:00 for lunch. The place was full with most people finishing breakfast. My wife and I had the veggie plate which consisted of three vegetables and bread for less than $6. We had the fried okra, creamed corn, turnip greens, green beans, and squash. Everything was seasoned and tasted perfectly. I got the Mexican cornbread with my meal. It was spicy and good. This place is an authentic southern eating place. My family and I were in our way to North Carolina and decided to stop here to have breakfast. I'm glad we did. The food here is delicious. How this restaurant works is almost like a subway. You ask the lady what you want to put on your plate and then you pay depending on how much stuff you got. It is very cheap the most I paid for a plate was $9.00 and they don't hold back on the amount of food they put in there. For breakfast they have the Normal such as eggs, sausage, ham, bacon, biscuits, pancakes, coffee, gravy. The food was delicious, fresh and well made. Food was ok, scrambled eggs were soft like I like them, biscuit was good and fresh, gravy was testy, but the sausage was a bit over cooked and salty and coffee could be better. Nestled back on a side road behind the front line of chain outlets at the fast growing and madly busy Commerce US 441 exit on I-85, the Commerce Country Cafe is the popular local haunt where both the accents and roast beef gravy are thick. The restaurant offers an Oriental-style buffet (no surprise, as i have it on good authority that the owner comes from more than a few miles east of Commerce) and a simple menu with burgers and other simple items. Most if not all the customers chose from the buffet. Think meat and three: start with pork, chicken, roast beef, catfish filets, or a tempting but positively cardiologically evil-looking chicken fried steak in white gravy. Move on down the line, and surround that choice with greens (excellent), fried okra, green beans, mashed potatoes, the excellent creamed corn, among others. The banana pudding and blueberry cobber desserts were delicious and recommended. There's an unlimited supply of sweet (or unsweet) tea. The pork had a distinctly Asian character, more seasoned but still light, and definitely not bbq. The prices are reasonable. We fed a party of three (well, 2.5, as one was a six year old) for less than $30. read more

This is the local gem. The place where the parking lot is always packed. This is a southern country breakfast and lunch place that is cafeteria style but even the longest lines get you through in 5 minutes or less. The biscuits are amazing and huge and they aren't shy about the amount of food they put on your plate. But the most important part is the quality of the food and the customer service. Both of which are top notch. This is a cash only place but there is an ATM located by the front entrance. Ask for refills and leave your trays, waitresses earn their keep and gladly accept tips. There is also plenty of seating so don't let a full parking lot scare you off. Also if you're an introvert you should probably stay away, as you are likely to get into a friendly conversation with a live person that may not even know what Facebook is. Very refreshing to find a cafe like this on our way home from Florida to North Carolina. We were there on Saturday 6/20/2020. Cafe closes at 2:00pm on Saturdays, according to the sign on the door. We arrived at 1:40 and couldn't have been welcomed more. Very friendly and gracious staff who didn't seem to mind that we walked in, just 20 minutes prior to closing. The food was fantastic. I personally had a double bacon cheeseburger, that was made to order. One of the biggest and best I've had in my 50 years. This place is a must, if you're in the area.
