You have options but your stuck dealing with a lady saying what else every 3 seconds. You are literally ordering under fire. There is no flavor what so ever to anything unless it comes from the box it came from. Nothing appeared to be homemade and if it was you couldn't tell. Consistently good Southern comfort food. If you can get beyond the great buffet offering, I suggest the hand made hamburger steak plate (with grilled onions and green peppers, my choice) comes with two side items and rolls. Now THIS is country cookin'! (I would add "like my Grandma used to make," except my Grandma was a Polish immigrant whose idea of "country cooking" was pierogis and borscht.) Set up cafeteria style with about as much charm as a trailer, Commerce Country Cafe is THE place for a real Southern meal. Homemade and and breaded chicken tenders (at least 7 of them on my plate), a generous portion of delicious fried okra, a HUGE scoop of macaroni and cheese, and a biscuit the size of my face only set me back $4.99 plus tax. And all the "meat and twos" are that cheap. They day I was there chicken tenders were the popular choice, but the turkey and dressing and meatloaf also got rave reviews, and there were at least eight different meats to chose from and twice as many sides. This is a great alternative to the myriad number of "chain" restaurant that dominate the Commerce outlet shopping area ... it's southern cooking but one has to wonder how much on the steam table is canned or frozen. Sure, it's pretty good for the price and even has southern style 'chow-chow' on the condiment table but I am suspect to the authenticity of some of the "southern dishes". That said, I saw some great looking hamburgers coming out of the kitchen after I had finished my lunch. Thats what I am getting if I ever get back here. read more

It's a lunch line style cafe. The girl behind the counter could be nicer and the food could be hotter but it tastes good.

Dont over look this place just because its located at a truck stop! I stop there almost every morning for biscuit religiously! If my grandmother wasn't asian, lived in the south ,and was a country gal. I would think this is how her biscuits would taste! There staff is wonderful, always nice and genuinely friendly and give you that real southern hospitality. As far as lunch, on a daily they always cook up a variety of flavored wings and pizza. And through out the week they also serve up different things depending on the way of the week, mostly comfort food ofcourse, meatloaf , bbq ribs baked chicken and fried catfish with is amazing. If your passing through the area on a weekday i would definitely stop by and grab a bite rather then eating at any of those fast food joints. Nothing fancy about the place; they -have- recently paved some more parking spaces. Current price for standard lunch is $5.55, drink (and dessert, if you like) are extra. Other reviews have it pretty much covered - worth a visit if you're looking for something other than the multitude of chain restaurants just a quarter-mile down the road. read more

Best breakfast bar on town! They have sausage, eggs, grits, bacon, chicken, steak tenderloins and more! You can't beat the prices - I get meat biscuits grits and drink for about $4. The lunch is also very good. You can call ahead to see what the meat choices are and if they don't have what you want, they'll have it by the time you get there if you just ask! You can't beat the prices. The only thing that held me back from giving 5 stars is they don't take credit cards. read more

After hearing from a couple different people how great this place was we decided to go. I took my dad, my husband, and myself to breakfast. When we walked in it definitely was NOT what I was expecting. It's in a steam table line and looked like we were in a cafeteria. You walk through the line with a tray and tell them which items out of the steam table you want, then take your food to your table. I could have forgiven the cafeteria set up if it hadn't tasted like cafeteria food. I felt like I was visiting someone in the hospital and was eating hospital cafeteria food (seriously, that's exactly what it was like). It was disgusting.. none of us could even manage to choke it down, so we left and went over to Waffle House. Definitely will not go back. read more

My favorite all around for breakfast! Talk about a homemade biscuit.......they are the biggest and tastiest biscuits you will ever find. Many choices of meats to put on your biscuit; bacon, sausage, tenderloin, chicken, and even red links. Eggs are cooked to perfection. Wonderful tators and gravy too. For lunch the burger cannot be beat. You can have it with slaw or pretty much any way you like. Great fries. It is cafeteria style but the line moves quickly and even though the parking lot may be packed full at times, there is always a place to sit. The value also cannot be beat! We stopped to get some breakfast and missed it by 20 mins. We ended up getting homemade pineapple pudding instead and by far it was the best testing pineapple pudding I've ever tasted!!!
