A weekend trip to Townville SC to visit our friends who left CHS for retired life in small town America, lead us to Waldrop's for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Located at the top of a hill from one of the lakes boat ramps, this quaint spot is perfect for supporting local. From the red and white vinyl picnic table clothes, styrofoam cups, roll of paper towels and Texas Pete at each table, I knew we were going to enjoy some great food. Eggs, crispy bacon, toast served with warm melty butter to spread and cheesy hash browns were all delicious. I also tried their jalapeño grits which were yummy too. On our way home, we were hungry for breakfast and came about 10 minutes off of the interstate and happy we did. The view on the way here is beautiful! The owner was super friendly. Dining area and restrooms were clean. Our server was very pleasant & welcoming. We had the western omelet, grits, home fries, hash, biscuits and toast. Everything was so good & tasty. A hidden treasure. Maybe the best hamburger on lake Hartwell. Friendly waitstaff that makes sure things are good. Food is cooked when you order so yeah you may have to wait a few minutes, this ain't McDonalds and you know it when you bite into the hand made burgers. read more

Waldrop's restaurant is a small, quaint little place that sells fuel, bait (not live) and small grocery type items. Comes in very handy for it's location next to two boat ramps, the closest being Weldon boat ramp and up the road a bit at Hatton's. The fuel is non-eth 90 and is well under price for a place near the lake. Speaking of... this restaurant is lake accessible. You can tie your boat up at Weldon's boat ramp on the opposite side of the dock from the ramp and walk a very short distance to the restaurant. Now onto the food. Went in and was greeted my nice smiling faces, we chose to sit at the bar. Ordered a BBQ pork chop which was the special of the day, and a burger. While we waited, the girl behind the counter was very hospitalbe and gave us some samples of things including the pound cake and onion rings, and offered to cook us a sausage because she said that is what the restaurant is fantastic for. We did also have the burger. The BBQ Chop itself was the let down, a bit dry, but the mac and cheese was easy 5 stars, slaw was 5, the burger was 4 stars. fries were fresh out of the frier, large crinkle cut fries, and were great. Total bill came to 15$, not bad for two of us. for the fact that this is boat accessible I will be back, I hope to try some of that world class sausage they were raving about. read more

What an amazing little place. We just moved to northern Georgia and our neighbor told us to check this place out. He raved about their breakfast. We stopped by today for lunch and WOW we loved it. First, don't let the parking lot and the building run you away - living in rural GA has taught me not to judge on appearance. We were immediately met and welcomed by the staff and the fact that a pitcher of sweet tea was waiting for us at our table started things off the right way. My wife ordered the daily special which was a hamburger steak with mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese, black-eyed peas, cornbread and dessert all for $7.99. I got a double cheese burger with bacon plate with my choice of toppings and the plate came with onion rings and slaw. ($10.50) Simply, everything was down-home amazing. Every thing we ate was freshly prepared and delicious. The down-home charm of the staff and patrons was off the charts; not to mention we enjoyed listening in on some spirited conversations between the obvious locals. We live about 20 miles from Waldrop's and we will be making this a regular stop. They have limited times that they are open so make sure you check their Facebook page or web site. read more

Stopped here on our way to Greenville. It's off the beaten path but well worth it! A little hole in the wall that truly was a gem to find. We got a good giggle out of a table of locals that solved the world's problems in just one morning over coffee. I am sure this is a daily occurrence. The people were nice. But all the reviews saying this is good food, I'm sorry. Where y'all been eating? Maybe it was just our experience there but we tried it based on the positive reviews... dont go out of your way to eat there. A chicken tender on a hot dog bun with nacho cheese... that's a menu item. The folks were super nice. Very friendly atmosphere but it was more like going to grandmas house to eat. I think it's a mother daughter establishment. Like I said, nice and friendly. Not good food. Plus side they have fuel, storage units, and a "motel" they are NOT on lake Hartwell. You have to pull up on a public dock and walk about 1/4 mile. read more

Been here once, ordered a philly cheese steak. Was pretty good, a bit greasy, but it's suppose to be. The waitress was nice, the atmosphere is old school, just the way it should be. Nice little greasy spoon. I would give it five stars, but it's it a little on the dirty side. read more

Can access by water, short walk uphill to get to restaurant. I had the lunch special, meat and two and dessert. Very tasty, food seemed fresh, no complaints. This is a small little diner at Lake Hartwell. People that live here stop in and visitors going out on the lake in their boats. It is nothing special or fancy but I have always gotten good food. read more
