It seems every time I visit downtown Anderson, new restaurants and businesses are popping up. One of the latest additions...Shucks Oyster Bar. Shucks is not a restaurant that serves oysters. They are truly an oyster bar. Raw oysters, steamed oysters or specials (like Oysters Rockafeller) - they've got them. They have a few other side items, like a delicious and spicy crawfish corn bread, but they're obviously focusing on what they want to do best. So...the oysters. We got a selection of raw and steamed. They were fresh and had a good selection of side sauces. There was some inconsistency in the shucking, with some not quite separated from the shell, and a few broken bits of shell, but not so much to detract from our enjoyment. The atmosphere is vibrant. Expect a bit of a wait for a table, and you'll be elbow to elbow with other diners, however not in a bad way. Grab a beer, relax and expect a good time.

First time here but hopefully not our last. The service was great and food delicious. Friendly staff, never waited for water and that's big for me. We had the soup of the day to start (shrimp&corn chowder) and then bar b que and peel and eat shrimp low country and we recommend either of these.

As we walked up the stairs from Wren Park we decided to stop in for a bite at Doolittles. Sitting on the patio on such a lovely evening next to the water fountain was so nice and relaxing while getting to meet some of the local neighbors. We are new in town and everyone is so friendly! Our server came out promptly and got us set up with menus and took our drink orders. There were several things on the menu I was torn over but decided on the Bourbon Chicken. My husband debated between the Fish & Chips or the Carolina Cuban, settling on the latter with the Sweet Corn Sauté. Neither disappointed. The Bourbon Chicken with broccoli and rice was delicious, although I would prefer maybe a little less sauce as it was almost a soup lol but I'd still order it again. My husband loved the Carolina Cuban. The flavors go so well together that even me not being a huge sandwich person would consider getting it on a future visit. The Sweet Corn Sauté was a nice compliment to the dish as well. Oh, and dinner was Gracie approved! She enjoyed her little bites of chicken, smoked pork and ham as well ;) And finally I want to give a shout out to our server Charlie! Her attentiveness and sweet personality played such an integral part in making our evening so great! Also I'd like to mention that we've been to Doolittles once before, just for drinks with friends after dinner at Maki. We had such a fun time that night! I wish I could remember our bartender's name but she's a freakin rock star. We had a blast!

Everything was fresh, hot, and flavorful--and baby, those potatoes were loaded! The service was friendly. I ordered takeout, but there's seating inside if you want to stay and eat. Upon walking in there was no one present and you're instructed to place your order on the kiosk. Maybe 5-10 mins later someone came out and acknowledged us to confirm that we placed an order. The ambiance was very open and things seemed to be in disarray or in strange places. On my way to the bathroom there was just a lot of dry goods and supplies they had strewn along the back wall and it was very disorganized. Some spots towards the back look unfinished and some random things in their dining room like coffee cups for sale, personal items out on the high counter and so on. The girl who assisted us was friendly when she did come out once we sat down. Our order for 2 potato boats and chicken wings took about 30ish minutes. I asked for bbq sauce and she said they were out and they make it in house. It was around noonish so I was a bit surprised they already ran out. The young lady told us that our food would be done soon and their "server robot" would bring it out for us. Mind you we are the ONLY table in the restaurant so we found it a bit strange for her to present it that way and then not just bring out the food herself. I feel like having a server robot bring food out to one table doesn't make much sense but perhaps they saw it as a wow factor. The robot is was playing "Move B^tch get out the way" by Ludacris and we were totally caught off guard. I'm not sure if that song is a great choice for the demographic or crowd for Anderson but because we knew the song well so it didn't bother us. Something to reconsider that might be more friendly or appropriate. Onto the food, the potato boats were cooked very well and had great flavor. She seasoned the potato part nicely aside from the other condiments on top. We got a 10 piece wing combo with sweet potato fries. Chicken wings were the smaller ones so they were crispy on the outside and the fries were tasty. Overall, enjoyed the food concept but the execution of service and hospitality can really use some refining. It didn't feel like a personalized experience and had moments of just wondering how everything ties in together. I find it important to acknowledge that guest perception is important and what they are surrounded by. Although the food was solid, the ambiance was unusual and lacked organization or a vision.
