Want a lil home cookin? This is one of our fav breakfast spots. We've done when it was busy and not so busy and had delicious meals with great service either way. I'm always torn at breakfast between whether to order grits or hashbrowns as my side option so this morning I decided I would get just those two items as my breakfast. Why not? I ordered the small side of hashbrown with grilled onions extra crispy (with a bit of A1 sauce) and an order of grits. The "small" portion of hashbrowns wasn't so small after all. They filled the plate and my belly! Knowing how controversial it is to put sugar in my grits I was scared to tell the waitress I wanted sugar but my husband made sure to let her know "oh and she would like sugar for her grits" The waitress got a kick out of it. But I grew up with sugar and butter in my grits, that's how my grandma from Corinth, MS always made them for me so that's my home cookin' although I do love them savory too with bacon and cheese, grits are flexible and people judge too harshly. Well these definitely hit the spot. This time my husband French Toast with Bacon and Eggs over Medium. Usually he eats a keto diet but he sometimes makes exceptions when he knows it will be worth it and here it always is. This is a place you go when you are feeling a bit homesick and want that cozy, home cooked meal. It is a taste of home and I love that it isn't pretentious, it's just good food! read more

I had a Denver omelette that came with grits and toast. Food was great; portions were excellent and it was served very hot (great to have it that way). Cafe was good old country kindness; clean and a homey atmosphere. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and very much personable. Definitely a go-to place. read more

This is a Great Lil Cafe! Good home cooking eats here. Relaxed crowd, friendly and quick service. This is not a high end joint. But don't let that fool you. The quality is there! Good variety in the menu too. We ate the cheeseburger and fried pork chop. It was all good. Pork chop was moist and flavorful. Cheeseburger was not over/cooked and very juicy. What We also liked was the Patriotic paintings and the illustrations of the Lords church house on the front windows. So if you don't like good cooking, being a Patriot and relaxed environment don't eat here. Go somewhere else for a hussle and bustle. It's chill here and good food to boot! Driving through rural SC leaves very little suitable food options. There are myriad mom and pop restaurants, which I generally enjoy, but this one did not make the cut. On the outskirts of Anderson, it's a small place that has the following phrases painted on the front windows: Freedom God Guns and Country Butts are Smokin!- they weren't One nation under God Holy Bible- accompanied with a picture depiction of the Old Testament with two rifles laying across it, forming an "X". Not sure of the correlation between 5000 year old text and 160 year old wartime technology, but what do I know? These types of places generally turn me off. I probably would not have even stopped if I wasn't so hungry and didn't know what else was around. However, I got out of my truck and placed a to-go order. Knowing better than to do so, I still chose the BBQ plate with Mac and cheese and cucumber salad. The only redeeming quality about the whole meal was the cuke salad. It was nice and cold and fresh. The BBQ was dry yet greasy. The Mac and cheese was okay, above average. A little pricey for what I got. It was $10.50 with no drink. If you are a gun toting bible thumping freedom warrior, this is your place. If you fall within the religious norm, don't own a gun, or don't have a Bald Eagle tattoo, you may be out of place. Don't look for any other place for fish. The fish plate is flounder. I got slaw and fries. Oh and did I say hush puppies?!? REAL hush puppies!! And strawberry pie for dessert. This is definitely the best place I've had seafood in Anderson. They're not trying to impress you. They're trying and succeeding in FEEDING you. I'll go back here again and again. I've read many a review where people have said, if I could give this place less then one star I would. I'm not sure if I have ever posted that in a previous review but I can tell ya what....I'm saying it now. Honestly, my stomach was gnawing on my spine I was so hungry. I had to eat something, anything...well anything but what I was served here. Now let me set the stage for you so you can clearly understand this all. We enter into STC and the first thing you will notice is the plastic 1970's owl tablecloths. You know those brown and odd yellow orange type owls? ya those on the tablecloths. I proceed to pull out my chair and well I think there was more padding hanging out of that chair then was in it. Our server, well lets not go there. If there was an option to purchase a smile on the menu, I would have gladly ordered one for her. She seemed to have lost hers. Oh and if for some crazy reason you still chose to go to this place after reading my review, I can warn you right now, do NOT look up at the ceiling. I'm not kidding here. I honestly felt at any moment it was just going to cave in. We are talking way past dirty ceilings, we are talking a super dark brown stains with several of the tiles I think were just hanging on by dust and crud. You getting the idea now? The food, well honestly there was no way it could be worse then what we have already seen right? WRONG! I'm not sure what stupid pill I took this morning. 1) why didn't I run out after seeing the inside of this place? and 2) who in their right mind orders salmon in a place like this for breakfast? Me, that's who, some crazy stupid Yankee who was thinking OH well I really could use some lox...........Hello??? yes I didn't just take one or two stupid pills I took the whole flippen bottle apparently. My husband had eggs and grits with 2 sausage patties and I had the grilled chicken salad with toast. Made fresh, busy at lunch and breakfast, they also serve dinner. I had a call in..went to pick my order up and noticed the waiter adding excessive charges to my order. When I asked her about it she let me know they charged me idndividually for each item although the menu lists a price for the plate..she also included a to go plate charge and then charged me for the items..I let her know I did not want the food and left the place. while in the car an employee ran out and confronted me aggressively about having to now throw the food away I let her know that was fine because I wasn't about to pay double the price on the menu for eggs bacon and hashbrowns. becuase I was in an Uber I asked the employee to back away from the vehicle as my driver was afraid. Well things escalated into a male now outside who also was an employee now scolding and yelling, pointing his finger at me..eventually the Uber driver drove off and here I am leaving a review. The food isn't exactly spectacular, but it isn't terrible either, especially for the prices. Great home cooked food and breakfast, best hamburger steak around since Good-o's. The staff could be a little more friendly, but I can't say anyone was outright rude to us. They deliver, also. The decor is a little tacky and cleanliness should be improved significantly. read more
