So if you don't like good cooking, being a Patriot and relaxed environment don't eat here.

I went in the Farmer's Market first. It looks like an old barn. There were lots and lots of homemade choices- "canned" soup bases, fruits, vegetables, salsas, jams, flavored oils to name a few. There were also fresh fruits, nuts, honey, vegetables, dairy products and cakes. There are four areas you can eat. The main "restaurant" is small with only a few tables. Evidently it's a favorite of older local gentlemen to gather for an early breakfast. There is also the "Pig Sty," "The Chicken Coop" and the farmer's market area. Some of these can be cold in the winter and warm in the summer so dress accordingly. The farmer's market area is heated by a wood stove. The staff here are so friendly. It felt like we were visiting family. The food was good ole country food. The hubby and I each ordered the breakfast plate. I had coffee with my choice of several flavored creamers. If you pay in cash you get a discount. If you are in the area you should check it out. You can order from the breakfast or lunch menu. Plan to stay a few extra minutes and look around and support local farmers. We brought home some boiled peanuts. Fun experience and good breakfast.

How long has it been since you have heard something like that? Talk to the waitresses here... you will hear things like "I've been here for 19 years, and just love the place." These are the sort of people who you just know are the best grandparents on the planet. I've been a few times for Breakfast and have enjoyed every meal I have had... BTW their Sour Dough Toast is the best... I usually get the special, two eggs, bacon, toast, grits... I know it's hard to mess up breakfast. The coffee is good. The service is just like I got from my grandparents. These people are the salt of the earth. More than once I've given $100 for a tip. Yesterday morning the lady checking me out said "I think you made a mistake on your tip." I said "No Ma'am, I was shooting for 200% and that's pretty close"... She offered me a piece of cake to take home. :-) These people are simply your grandparents, your Sunday school teachers, Aunt "B" from Mayberry... You really have to go by and experience the best people the USA has to offer. If you go and you agree that the folks here represent the best we have to offer, leave them a tip like you just ate the best meal of your life.

I'm always on the hunt for Old Style Family restaurant's and this place did not disappoint. A lot of choices on the menu, decided to try their Club Sandwich. The bread was some of the best on a sandwich I have ever had, nice and soft and not too little or too much bread where it overpowers the rest of the sandwich. Every bit of the sandwich and fries was tasty (picture was from their website- forgot to take one). The service was friendly, didn't take long at all before we had our food and they were attentive but not annoying. For those that love the old style family restaurant's, this is a must visit.

I find this highly irritating and I suspect most other customers feel the same. If this is part of the Manager's training for cashiers it should be eliminated promptly. I am generous when service is good, but it's not any business of the cashier about how generous or not generous I am. Adults don't need to be given a "guilt trip" by the cashier about their generosity. Adults know when and how to tip appropriately without a cashier prompting them. Now, the food is almost always good, but I'll make another cashier complaint while I'm at it. Commonly the cashiers will ask if everything was okay and I usually say "yes", but if I ever say "no" which is very rare no cashier has ever offered to resolve the problem. So, why are they asking the question? If it's just meant as a cordial greeting they should find something more useful and appropriate to say such as "Hello Sir/Madam. Will this be cash or credit card?" A follow-up "Thank you." would be perfect after the bill is paid. Now, let's get to ambience. Well, it's not great, but it could be better. It's a wide open room where anyone can see anyone else in the entire building and the noise from all the conversations going on is continual. But, there is also some type of music being played all the time. The music is useless because it just becomes part of the existing noise. The Manager should re-think this and turn the music off. That would be a simple fix to help ambience. And, of course, there are ways to reduce all the people noise, but that involves an investment in seating similar to the old Capri's Italian restaurants or the current Casa Fuentes restaurant where booths have high backs and seating is more plush and sound absorbing. But, that's not likely in the budget. So, simply turning the music off is a no cost way to improve ambience.

First, this is a Friday during lunch and they were pretty busy, always a good sign! There were hardly any booths or tables left and this was towards the beginning of lunch rush! I ordered the country fried steak lunch special with unsweet tea. The food hit the spot! It was so good I requested a box early so I wouldn't keep eating the whole plate! I also ordered an apple turnover to go to surprise my hubby with when he got home from work but.. well, I already ate my half ;) My waitress was so sweet and made sure I had everything I needed! I will definitely be returning when I'm missing my momma and her cooking. Something nostalgic about this place and it was my first time going!
