My grandfather's lemonade never ran out

My husband grandfather and I ate here and the service is super good and the food is very nicely priced. The portions are great and the food is made to order very delicious. The restaurant to self is also kept very clean and the servers are efficient and polite.

the waitress was in the kitchen smoking then smelled her arm pits before she came to take our order. The place was a mess.

Cottage House Restaurant - French Fries, Macaroni & Cheese, mashed potatoes

    Cottage House Restaurant

Stopped by Cottage House Restaurant in Cleveland and this place is exactly what you want if you're…read morelooking for a solid, no-frills Southern breakfast. First off, the setup is super easy. You walk in, grab a tray, and you've got options. You can go through the hot bar and get served right there, pay, and be on your way... or order off the menu, sit down, and they'll bring the food to you. Very simple and efficient. The inside is spacious with plenty of seating, and there's also outdoor seating if you want it. Parking is easy too, which is a big plus, especially compared to the chaos you'll run into closer to Helen. Food wise, I always judge breakfast spots by the chicken, egg, and cheese biscuit... and this one held up. The chicken was tender, the biscuit was soft and fresh, and overall it was a solid start. The surprise for me was the hashbrown casserole. It came out good, but once I added a little salt, the flavor really popped. Definitely worth getting. The pancakes were also done right... nice crispy edges with a soft, fluffy inside. That's exactly how pancakes should be. Menu wise, they've got everything you'd expect from a Southern breakfast spot... biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, country ham, pancakes, omelets, and even lunch style items like burgers and plate meals if you come later. They also have a Coca-Cola fountain, which is always a win. Service was friendly, especially for early morning, and the whole place just has that comfortable, old-school home cooking feel. There is also a drive thru if you don't feel like leaving your car. Overall, this is a great spot if you want a good breakfast without the crowds. Simple, tasty, and easy.

For the life of me I can't figure out how this restaurant got a 4.5 rating…read more Two of us ate there today about 2:30 PM for the first time ever. The food sits in bins under warming lights for who knows how long and servers dish it onto plates for you. I had fried chicken, 2 legs, as they only have legs and breasts, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, cornbread and iced tea. The food was barely warm and the chicken was quite greasy with very little flavor. A good southern restaurant should have great iced tea, too, but again, not even close. We both declined dessert as it looked as if it had been sitting in those cases for several days. Also, no real butter to be found. Just that whipped spread that doesn't have a trace of milk or cream in it. No ambience inside, just several wooden tables everywhere and a few booths with torn seats and backs. The floor was pretty dirty and the whole place could benefit from a good cleaning. This is a first and last time for me as this restaurant does not even come close to real home cooked southern food.

It's nothing fancy, the cafe is in what looks like a redone modular home. You order your meat and two sides at the counter and get your own drinks. The iced tea was good. There are two long tables in the center so you eat family style but on the Sunday afternoon we went we were the only ones at one of the tables. They were doing a brisk takeout business. The lady who waited on us was very nice. My DD got the grilled pork chop, black eyed peas and macaroni and cheese with a hoe cake. I had pulled turkey with dressing and turkey gravy, sweet potato casserole and collards with a roll (I should have picked the hoe cake). Everything was fabulous with special accolades to the black eyed peas, the mac & cheese and the collards. There were lots of choices too with everything from fried shrimp to chitterlings and ox tails. If you find yourself in Eatonton and you like a meat and two sides search out Ms. Stellas, you won't be sorry.

Meat and two veg place. Had daily special that were already cooked like pigs-feet and meat-loaf…read more They had a cook-to-order section that was mostly fried stuff I think, pork-chops, chicken-wings etc. The cook to order stuff took longer to serve, but that's stated upfront and completely natural. There were plenty other options in both the special and cooked-to -order menu, I just don't remember them all. There were about 8-10 yummy sides to choose from. I had meat-loaf with brown gravy (could have been ketchup), collard greens, mashed potatoes with brown gravy and cornbread. I enjoyed it all. My companion had a fried pork-chop and it looked delicious. He seemed very pleased. It's a small old building that's kinda out of the way. It doesn't look like much from the road. If you happened to be driving on its back road you could easily miss it if you weren't looking for it. Found with Apple Maps. It was counter service. Small dining room. It was clean as far as I could tell. Single bathroom was old but well maintained. They had several takeout orders while I was there at late lunch time. The dining room was pretty full with three groups including mine. My only criticism was the fountain drinks were very limited. There were no diet sodas. There was unsweet tea available though.
