They put a lot of effort into local quality sources. Everything I've had is good, hamburgers with fries, sausage, egg, and cheddar cheese biscuit, a type biscuit known in the south as cat head biscuit because they're the size of a cat head. good prices, friendly folks, down home style read more

Talk about old school. This was an interesting discovery. There are several buildings including a Farmers market so I wasn't sure where the restaurant was. I went in the Farmer's Market first. It looks like an old barn. There were lots and lots of homemade choices- "canned" soup bases, fruits, vegetables, salsas, jams, flavored oils to name a few. There were also fresh fruits, nuts, honey, vegetables, dairy products and cakes. There are four areas you can eat. The main "restaurant" is small with only a few tables. Evidently it's a favorite of older local gentlemen to gather for an early breakfast. There is also the "Pig Sty," "The Chicken Coop" and the farmer's market area. Some of these can be cold in the winter and warm in the summer so dress accordingly. The farmer's market area is heated by a wood stove. The staff here are so friendly. It felt like we were visiting family. The food was good ole country food. The hubby and I each ordered the breakfast plate. I had coffee with my choice of several flavored creamers. If you pay in cash you get a discount. If you are in the area you should check it out. You can order from the breakfast or lunch menu. Plan to stay a few extra minutes and look around and support local farmers. We brought home some boiled peanuts. Fun experience and good breakfast. read more

Went to Barnwood Grill on Whitehall Rd. In Anderson for breakfast today. There's a three egg sausage omelet under that gravy biscuit. William had a sausage trash bowl. Both were beyond delicious. I highly recommend this unique place. read more

I had the burger with a fried egg on top. In my eyes, I was being adventurous as I had never tried this before. I'm glad I did. The burger was perfectly cooked and the egg was a tasty edition. I can't comment on the service or the ambiance because this was via a DoorDash order. Everything arrived to me correct and still hot. read more

We LOVE a going to Barnwood Grill for lunch OR breakfast I most recently got the trash breakfast bowl (no home fries) and it was excellent - I LOVE the grilled biscuit on the side. My husband ordered standard breakfast and ate every bite. He did mention he wished his biscuit was grilled. I suggested asking next time. We will be back very soon!! read more

Great lunch! It doesn't look like much on the outside, but don't let that fool you. The food was wonderful. Had the Chad (grilled chicken sandwich) and a club with tots and homemade chips...and ate every bite! Finished it off with a unique, thick ice cream sandwich from the market that was also great. Think small town country store with everything from fresh veggies, meats, goats milk, candles, jellies, jams, candy, soups, olive oil, bread, they had it all, and everything seemingly local. Service was great, food was great, and we'll likely be back if ever in the area. We didn't get to try the breakfast, but based on the bacon on our sandwiches and the fresh eggs available in the market, I can only imagine it would be amazing! read more

Great food that uses local ingredients. The ground beef they use for their menu items is tender and delicious. I've had their sloppy Joe bowl and their French dip sandwich, both are awesome! The staff is great, warm and friendly. I'll definitely be back! read more

The wicked dip is our favorite but, everything I've had there is wonderful! We love the vibe there too!!

Super frustrating to have your signs say open, only to be closed on a Saturday morning for no reason. What an unfortunately run business

Small place but with great food! I had the Rueben and it was wonderful. The toast stayed crisp and it had a good balance of meat, sauerkraut, and sauce. Best Ruben I've had in a long time. The Big Sexy burger was good if you'd like blue cheese. You can really taste the cheese in this. Also these are huge! You won't be hungry for a long time afterwards. All sides are sold separately. The price for the cowboy caviar was high compared to the amount you get but we enjoyed our meal here. We sat outside and once the food arrived, the flies all came out so we ate quickly. Would go again. read more

We stop in to the Barnwood whenever I am craving a club. My mom said her wrap was the best wrap she's ever had. Hubby enjoys the burgers (and my left over clubs). Everyone is friendly! Happy to customize your meal if you request. Love this local small business. Make sure to stop in the store next door for some fresh veggies, jams, cheeses, and other goodies. We will definitely keep coming back! read more

I've eaten here a few times, only because I know several of the employees that work there. However, after my first experience I should have never went back. I only go back because of the staff that is absolutely amazing. Unfortunately the owner is not so friendly and welcoming at all! It really puts a bad taste in someone's mouth when they order an item off the menu and want to customize it for the simply fact of not liking something on it. Then, you hear the OWNER in the kitchen (suppose to be professional) yelling, cussing at the top of her lungs about a customer making a simple change to something. It's also horrible at the way she treats and talks to her staff. Again, I know several of the people that work there and they do their job very well and work hard under the ridiculous conditions that the owner puts them through. Very chaotic and unorganized. Prices are different on every menu and even what the servers put into the computer for payment. The food is definitely not 2,3,4 or even 5 stars. 1 star at best. Wait times are RIDICLOUS even on slow days because of all the chaoticness that happens when the owner is there. I'm sure there will be words said about me posting this but it is a place for reviews and that's exactly what I am doing. Posting my own personal review of a restaurant read more

Excellent !!! Great food, service and old-time ambiance. Try the "Trash Bowl." And visit the market next to the grill.

The meals are really good specially breakfast. From a little shack, they have expanded and they have not changed their wonderful menu.

We were looking for a place that had homemade food. The food was very good. The Reuben was nicely toasted. It has a nice crunch. The sauerkraut was much better than that of a typical Reuben. The chicken salad had a little bit of bacon in it. The bread was fresh and nicely toasted. For a side I had the Carolina Caviar. That was very good and worth trying if you prefer not to eat French fries. There is also a market here. We filled up on ice cream, watermelon, and meats to take home with us. By the way, everyone is friendly here and they accommodated our doggie Nellie and brought her some water too. read more

Awesome! Small hole in the wall place but with good country food. Try the jalapeño ranch dressing. We will be back!

Best hamburger I have had in YEARS. Fire and Ice...jalapenos, cheddar, sweet fresh onion, lettuce all piled on the most delicious soft, brioche style bun!!! The meat patty was sooo tasty. Had a side of bacon, cheddar, jalapeno grits. Husband had philly cheesesteak...tasted it, delicious, but loved my choice!!! Store attached has incredible selection of local products. read more

The food was delicious and our server, Taylor, was so sweet and efficient. We were in Anderson for a doctors appointment and we did not know where to eat. We did not want to eat a chain so I saw the reviews on your Restaurant and they were wonderful. We gave it a try and it did not disappoint. My husband, and I both enjoyed our meal and we will certainly come back again when we are in town.. read more

This is me and my bestie's secret spot that we go to every semester. I have never been disappointed. The owner is the actual definition of shwae. She waits tables, cooks the food, and basically runs the entire show. The homemade biscuits are the perfect combination of soft and crumbly. And today I tried a burger on an everything brioche bun that was really tasty. The service is always speedy and the atmosphere is perfect for a variety of occasions, from a Saturday morning family breakfast, to a guys lunch outing. This place has my heart...and my stomach:) read more

We had a fabulous breakfast at Barnwood Grill when visiting the area with our family for a long weekend. If you can't find seating in the main section, there is a carport to the side that is enclosed and has seating for larger groups. It's bright and airy, and we really enjoyed sitting in that section. Most of our six-person group had either Breakfast Special #1 or #2, but my mom branched out and got a veggie omelet. We decided to wait for the biscuits that were currently being baked, and we were glad we did. They were HUGE, like the "cat head" biscuits (named for their size) we've had at other places. I had scrambled eggs with cheese, grits, sausage, and a biscuit. My husband had fried eggs cooked perfectly medium, country ham, home fries, and a biscuit. The scrambled eggs were a huge portion, and the cheese was nicely melted in. The sausage is a local variety, served patty-style, with a nice kick. The home fries were better than the grits, with a delicious seasoning, and bits of meat (country ham, I think) mixed in. Wow, they were good! The portions are huge, and we couldn't clean our plates. The coffee was locally roasted, strong, and delicious. And our server (Tricia) was the friendliest and most helpful server ever. She had to run back and forth to the main restaurant in the rain, and never complained once for the effort. We loved this place, and would definitely return! read more

Well worth the detour off the beaten path. My husband and I shared the classic burger and Carolina caviar, both were excellent. Three small buildings for dine-in and one waitress was worrisome, but the service was quick. We also checked out the specialty grocery store and saw an outdoor space for fruits and vegetables in the warmer months. Hope to try their breakfast soon. read more

What a place to spend a fall morning eating the kind of breakfast your loving Grandmother would have made you. The people are so kind, and I don't use that compliment lightly. When a place is as comforting as the food all of a sudden you are reminded of all the good in the world and how much there is to be thankful for. Moments like this will have you stopping to say the blessing and being reminded of the good people in your life that have come and gone and the realization that you have to stop and cherish all of those that are still here. Yeah, it's that good. read more

This is my second visit to Barnwood Grill and I'm as happy with the food and service as i was the first time. This is southern charm at its best. Great food, delicious and large portions. I recommend the Trash Bowl for breakfast and the Philly Steak Sammy for lunch. The biscuits are scratch made and delicious. The dining area is called the "chicken coup" and is a converted aluminum car-port. Picnic tables, fun and comfortable. Great just sitting around and talking to the locals. read more

Let's be clear, it's a dive. A dive with a surprisingly diverse menu, but still a dive. Maybe more of a shack. Cramped seating with just a few tables in a small area. But it has its appeal. It's real, not just made to look rustic. It's a unique place. I had a burger that was perfectly fine. Nothing that's going to win any culinary awards, but hey this place is about the atmosphere. I'm betting their breakfast is a real killer. That's my plan for the next visit. If this place is near you... give it a shot. read more

The service was slow. Two workers were chatting while we were waiting for our order to be taken. We ordered burgers and the meat was really dry. Great little local place with home cooked food. Eclectic barnyard decor, seating inside & out. Seating is broken up in different areas and that makes it kinda cool! Service was friendly and food came out fast! Only reason I'm giving a 4 is because my grits were too salty. I will come back again read more
