Talk about old school. This was an interesting discovery. There are several buildings including a Farmers market so I wasn't sure where the restaurant was. I went in the Farmer's Market first. It looks like an old barn. There were lots and lots of homemade choices- "canned" soup bases, fruits, vegetables, salsas, jams, flavored oils to name a few. There were also fresh fruits, nuts, honey, vegetables, dairy products and cakes. There are four areas you can eat. The main "restaurant" is small with only a few tables. Evidently it's a favorite of older local gentlemen to gather for an early breakfast. There is also the "Pig Sty," "The Chicken Coop" and the farmer's market area. Some of these can be cold in the winter and warm in the summer so dress accordingly. The farmer's market area is heated by a wood stove. The staff here are so friendly. It felt like we were visiting family. The food was good ole country food. The hubby and I each ordered the breakfast plate. I had coffee with my choice of several flavored creamers. If you pay in cash you get a discount. If you are in the area you should check it out. You can order from the breakfast or lunch menu. Plan to stay a few extra minutes and look around and support local farmers. We brought home some boiled peanuts. Fun experience and good breakfast. read more

We LOVE a going to Barnwood Grill for lunch OR breakfast I most recently got the trash breakfast bowl (no home fries) and it was excellent - I LOVE the grilled biscuit on the side. Great lunch! It doesn't look like much on the outside, but don't let that fool you. The food was wonderful. Had the Chad (grilled chicken sandwich) and a club with tots and homemade chips...and ate every bite! Finished it off with a unique, thick ice cream sandwich from the market that was also great. Think small town country store with everything from fresh veggies, meats, goats milk, candles, jellies, jams, candy, soups, olive oil, bread, they had it all, and everything seemingly local. Service was great, food was great, and we'll likely be back if ever in the area. I've eaten here a few times, only because I know several of the employees that work there. However, after my first experience I should have never went back. I only go back because of the staff that is absolutely amazing. Unfortunately the owner is not so friendly and welcoming at all! It really puts a bad taste in someone's mouth when they order an item off the menu and want to customize it for the simply fact of not liking something on it. Then, you hear the OWNER in the kitchen (suppose to be professional) yelling, cussing at the top of her lungs about a customer making a simple change to something. It's also horrible at the way she treats and talks to her staff. Again, I know several of the people that work there and they do their job very well and work hard under the ridiculous conditions that the owner puts them through. Very chaotic and unorganized. Prices are different on every menu and even what the servers put into the computer for payment. The food is definitely not 2,3,4 or even 5 stars. 1 star at best. Wait times are RIDICLOUS even on slow days because of all the chaoticness that happens when the owner is there. We stop in to the Barnwood whenever I am craving a club. My mom said her wrap was the best wrap she's ever had. Hubby enjoys the burgers (and my left over clubs). Everyone is friendly! Happy to customize your meal if you request. Love this local small business. Make sure to stop in the store next door for some fresh veggies, jams, cheeses, and other goodies. Small place but with great food! I had the Rueben and it was wonderful. The toast stayed crisp and it had a good balance of meat, sauerkraut, and sauce. Best Ruben I've had in a long time. The Big Sexy burger was good if you'd like blue cheese. You can really taste the cheese in this. Also these are huge! You won't be hungry for a long time afterwards. All sides are sold separately. The price for the cowboy caviar was high compared to the amount you get but we enjoyed our meal here. We sat outside and once the food arrived, the flies all came out so we ate quickly. We were looking for a place that had homemade food. The food was very good. The Reuben was nicely toasted. It has a nice crunch. The sauerkraut was much better than that of a typical Reuben. The chicken salad had a little bit of bacon in it. The bread was fresh and nicely toasted. For a side I had the Carolina Caviar. That was very good and worth trying if you prefer not to eat French fries. There is also a market here. We filled up on ice cream, watermelon, and meats to take home with us. This is me and my bestie's secret spot that we go to every semester. I have never been disappointed. The owner is the actual definition of shwae. She waits tables, cooks the food, and basically runs the entire show. The homemade biscuits are the perfect combination of soft and crumbly. Three small buildings for dine-in and one waitress was worrisome, but the service was quick. We had a fabulous breakfast at Barnwood Grill when visiting the area with our family for a long weekend. If you can't find seating in the main section, there is a carport to the side that is enclosed and has seating for larger groups. It's bright and airy, and we really enjoyed sitting in that section. Most of our six-person group had either Breakfast Special #1 or #2, but my mom branched out and got a veggie omelet. We decided to wait for the biscuits that were currently being baked, and we were glad we did. They were HUGE, like the "cat head" biscuits (named for their size) we've had at other places. I had scrambled eggs with cheese, grits, sausage, and a biscuit. My husband had fried eggs cooked perfectly medium, country ham, home fries, and a biscuit. The scrambled eggs were a huge portion, and the cheese was nicely melted in. The sausage is a local variety, served patty-style, with a nice kick. The home fries were better than the grits, with a delicious seasoning, and bits of meat (country ham, I think) mixed in. Wow, they were good! The portions are huge, and we couldn't clean our plates. The coffee was locally roasted, strong, and delicious. And our server (Tricia) was the friendliest and most helpful server ever. She had to run back and forth to the main restaurant in the rain, and never complained once for the effort. We loved this place, and would definitely return! read more

This is my second visit to Barnwood Grill and I'm as happy with the food and service as i was the first time. This is southern charm at its best. Great food, delicious and large portions. I recommend the Trash Bowl for breakfast and the Philly Steak Sammy for lunch. The biscuits are scratch made and delicious. The service was slow. Two workers were chatting while we were waiting for our order to be taken. We ordered burgers and the meat was really dry. The fries tasted like they had been cooked then reheated which made them dried out.
