Recently stopped in with best friend, Mud Magnet, AKA the Old Crow, before a day of actual crow hunting. Iron Cafe is in a very old building, circa pre-1900, although they couldn't give me the exact year. Lots of nooks and crannies in the smallish floor plan Menu has plenty of options. MM had a Sunrise Omelet, which he devoured licketty split. I opted for eggs over, with home fries and toast. Our coffees were made in the kitchen. Kind of unusual, but they came out perfect. First time here, and it certainly won't be our last. When I tell you they have the best breakfast potatoes you'll ever taste, I am not kidding. BEST tasting, most delicious, well-seasoned potatoes you'll have! This cafe is situated in a charming historic building, which definitely adds to the experience. They also have outdoor seating, which more than doubles their seating capacity (not too many seats inside). We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast here, and the coffee was excellent. I got an almond joy latte with oat milk, which was smooth and not overly sweet. Great drink! 4 instead of 5 because they're cash only (as of writing this review at least), which is hella inconvenient in this day and age. There wasn't (or we didn't notice any obvious) signage outside of the restaurant to indicate this. They do have an ATM on-site, so you don't have to go running to the bank if you don't have cash on you. read more

Today was a cold windy day and we unfortunately had to sit in the rear of the restaurant, which is basically a tent. They have propane heaters that are warm but because of the wind, your head was hot, and your legs were freezing. We ordered the French toast with side orders. My wife had the side of bacon, $4.50 which was 1-1/2 pieces of bacon...... that's right, 1-1/2 pieces of bacon for $4.50. She also got an order of home fries $4.95 and again was like a half potato. Now I have to be honest, I might have the two side order prices mixed up, but either way it's still not worth it. I had the sausage as a side order, and what I got was an actual McDonald's sausage patty, also up there in price however I won't write how much because I'm not sure I don't remember. My wife got a hot chocolate that was basically brown water. Total of the bill, $47.00 and I gave an $8 tip. Oh. They only accept cash. All this mixed with the wind coming in the tent and cooling our food off rapidly made for a crappy experience. I guess my biggest gripe would be is the sides. The place is kind of funky and cool, but for the money, I would certainly not go back again. This is a one and done! read more

We made sure to get take out on our last day in this cute town of Montgomery because we had breakfast there the day before. Hot Starbucks coffee was a surprise treat! It's a busy place with a cute outdoor patio/terrace with tables, perfect for breakfast. Our server was friendly and and our breakfast was delicious! The French toast was thick and grilled to perfection. My day two breakfast that I got for takeout was a mushroom and cheese omelet. It was fluffy, not drown in grease, and the mushrooms were fresh. I also got a yogurt parfait which was chock full of fresh berries and granola. A lot of food. I didn't realize when I ordered it that the parfait was enough for a meal! All was very good. The staff are busy and seemed to work together like clockwork. They were very busy and kept up with it very well. I was impressed! It was a pleasure to visit Iron Cafe, once we found it. Not be from the area it took a bit if doing and some sharp eyes on the part of my travel companion to locate it in an old building in this very quaint town. Iron Cafe fits with the vibe of the town. There is parking in front on the street or behind the building. As other Yelpers have noted, this is a CASH ONLY cafe. There is an ATM located inside if you happen to not have enough cash on hand. This is a small cafe, so I wouldn't recommend bringing a party of more than four here for a breakfast out. The menu has a nice selection of breakfast items and the coffee selection is great, especially after having bad hotel coffee. We both had lattes . They were well balanced. The staff is very pleasant. its a small and very cozy little café, not much seating though and can feel small. so I was greeted warmly and I got a seat pretty quickly, and the menu was kind of small, but it has a good amount of variety. Best coffee in town hands down! We came to this small cafe during our weekend upstate. Upon arrival it's was a little hard to figure out where the shop actually is because I didn't really see a sign. So we focused on looking for the number 59 which was pretty visible. We ordered a decaf vanilla latte and a hot chocolate with milk based. Both were absolutely delicious. The quiche was among the best ever (in our top five) Creamy with a flaky crust. I had the chicken, jalapeño, avocado and bacon wrap. It was pressed like a panini which gave the perfect melt to the cheddar. Sandwiches come with choice of three sides; salad, fruit or macaroni salad. Their food is amazing. Excellent. Only issues are 1. If you sit outside, don't sit near the tarp they have out bc if the wind blows, the tarp slaps the chairs near it knocking them down. Happened twice last Sunday hitting me in the back . 2. Expect to pay cash bc they don't accept credit cards. The convenient ATM charges like 3.00, plus your own banks' fee.
