Fish Tacos

The food was delicious. The maple cornbread was great. My boyfriend loved the oysters. We both got fish tacos & I wish I could eat these everyday they were so good. The drinks were good. Service was great too! The inn & restaurant were lovely - very cozy! I thought prices were fair for great food from a small business, I wish I lived close by so I could come here more often. Looking forward to it again!

Very friendly and welcoming ambience. A bar at the front entrance as well as seating to the right. Outdoor tables available as well. Very flavorful food, cooked to perfection. Service was was professional, kind, and quick- always checking on us. Worth the drive and one of the best dinner locations in Hancock.

We were recommended to try Iron Bound by the B&B we were staying at, as the best restaurant in the area for dinner. When we arrived, they had just opened for dinner service, and were greeted with a hearty hello and seated immediately. I was struck by the genuine friendliness of everyone we talked to on staff here, as well as the welcoming friendliness of many of the patrons as well. Quite the wonderful surprise. Our waitress took a lot of time to really explain all the nuances of the menu items, and was warm and helpful. To start, we ordered the salad special, a local tomato and panzanella salad which was absolutely packed with flavor. Our entrees were the smoked fish pie and the ricotta gnocchi, both of which were super interesting and different than what we were expecting. Hubby said the smoked fish pie was one of the best things he ate all trip! I had a great glass of wine with my meal, and we opted for dessert elsewhere. Service is excellent, dining options are varied, and parking is plentiful and free in their private lot. Prices were equitable for the portions and quality, but the real stunner was the presentation which was lovely. I would definitely return here if we came back to this area, no doubt.

I had the burger special which was fucking fantastic! I was getting pretty tired of seafood at this point and it was the most refreshing change of pace. It was one of those just in time food experiences. C went for the crab cakes. What a gorgeous version of crab cakes they were! Fancy pants presentation and all things considered some of the best crab cakes we had on our trip. Bartender was really friendly and was super proud of their whiskey/bourbon collection. He did point out a few bottles to us that were really quite special and hard to come across. They had some Penelope variants that were unseen to me. I would come back in a heartbeat. If I lived nearby, I would be here all of the time. There were a ton of interesting menu items I would like to try. '26 - 26

Long story: My family ate here twice while vacationing. I got sick afterward both times. First time, I thought it was a fluke but not after the second. Both times, the service was super slow. Like molasses slow. Slow enough to watch grass grow. We ate inside the first time, but it was very warm and just one server to attend everyone. We ate our whole meals without anything to drink because she didn't refill them and kept forgetting when we asked. Second time, we decided to do the takeout counter, thinking it would be faster. It wasn't. They lost our ticket, and 45 minutes later called us up to the counter to inform us they'd just found it and would start making our order. We ended up waiting over an hour for a takeout order. They didn't put the chips in with the haddock sandwiches. When my husband pointed out the menu says the sandwiches came with chips, they actually argued with him until he showed them the menu. Then the gal very slowly put some chips (think Ruffles) in a small container acting very irritated about it like it was coming out of her paycheck. Later, my husband marvelled that she could actually move that slow and act so disgusted about giving us the chips we'd paid for especially after waiting so long. They didn't even offer an apology. If I lived there, I'd never go back. End of story: go here only if you want to risk getting sick and you have time to grow old waiting for your dinner. We ate at Ironbound the night before and received excellent service and food.

The historic building has a tin roof and a wooden bar that eeks history. Our waitress was so welcoming and made us feel right at home. Another had the Warm Roasted Root Vegetable Salad that she said was wonderful. We finished the meal with generous portions of carrot cake topped with delicious cream cheese frosting. There is a store inside the Black Moon (that happened to be closed on a Saturday night). In the corner they sell vinyl records and CDs and there is also a selection of guitars. There was also a musician playing live music near the front of the pub that really added to the atmosphere. It was a truly great find right on Main Street in Ellsworth.

Conscious Cafe is a small, tucked away neighborhood cafe inside a yoga studio. Their manu is carefully curated to nourish and replenish you body and soul. I really can't say enough about our experience here. We stopped by for an early lunch. I ordered the sweet potato soup as well as a coffee beverage. I typically don't like flavored beverages made with anything but espresso. Theirs are made with coffee and are outstanding. Zero complaints on the coffee. Their food is made fresh to order so takes a little while as when I was there, it was a bit of a one man show. The soup came came with crispy shallots and a drizzle of balsamic reduction. It was ginger kissed and one of the best sweet potato soups I have ever had. It was served with a side of crusty sourdough with the lightest smidge of ghee. It paired perfectly with the soup. The dining area is warm and comfortable with the kitchen easily viewable. You order at the counter and then the chef will bring you your meal.
