If you are looking for a quick ramen fix and don't care about the authentic taste/flavour of ramen, then this place is for you! Many things to dislike about this joint... Broth (3/5) - mediocre at best... lacked flavour and didn't have the richness that you expect from pork bone soup Egg (1/5) - overcooked and cold... was not runny at all and costs an extra 2 gbp Noodles (3/5) - too firm for my taste... nor did it pick up any of the flavours from the soup (maybe cause there wasn't any to begin with...) Overall, 15.75 gbp for a bowl of mediocre ramen is a no bueno for me... it's strategically placed in the financial district area to target people that want a quick fix and don't mind paying a premium for it. For foodies out there, pass and keep looking for a better ramen place!

    Delicious Spicy Ramen!

Tasty broth, my husband says it is the best ramen broth he has ever had! Get the egg, it is well worth it as an added to any of their ramen options. The female chef is an artisan- it was great to sit at the bar and work her magic. All in all a great experience!

Service - 1 star (was awful) Food 3.5 stars (average at best) Came here during my London visit as I was craving noodles and this was right next to my hotel. Ordered the #1 as well as pork buns. The noodles were al dente and the soup was not bad but the pork was not very flavorful and too fatty. Same goes for the pork buns which came with one thin slice of pork. Compared to The Ippudo in NY, the pork here lacks in flavor and quantity. Service was absolutely awful. It took us over twenty minutes to get our water after we reminded them three times and they had such an attitude about it as well. The wait time between the pork bun and the ramen was incredibly long as well even though the restaurant was only half full. There's no excuse for such crappy service when there's barely anyone in the restaurant!

I've been to Ippudo SF and Ippudo NY, and this Ippudo London just does not compare at all. The ramen was pretty mediocre - maybe by London standards it's okay, but if you're used to legit ramen in the US, I would advise against coming here. I had the akamaru miso ramen; I found the noodles very unsatisfactory and not as firm as I'd have liked (I ordered them "firm"). The broth was also not as rich and flavorful as I would expect for ramen, and the chashu I got was dry and not melt-in-your-mouth succulence. They did offer fresh garlic cloves and a garlic press, which was a plus (none of the other Ippudo's did this). There was no line and only one other occupied table when we got there. I thought we had gotten lucky since I've always had to wait at all the Ippudo's in the states, but.. I guess there's a reason why there are no lines, heh. I'd skip this if you're a seasoned ramen consumer and used to legit ramen (I really don't know what the ramen standard is in the UK and this got pretty high reviews so maybe it's good by UK standards, but I'm wary to call it good by US standards at least).

This is my favourite location in London. Tucked away with minimal seating helps secure this as an authentic ramen bar, reminiscent of my time in Japan. You may not even know it was a chain with its subtle ambiance. We were warmly greeted upon arrival, given our choice of the bar or table seating, as they were not too busy this early time of night. We chose the bar, to watch the action. Inviting aromas of their broths soothed us in the short time we had to wait for our dishes. I had the Akamaru Tamago, a rich, sensual broth with strong garlic flavour. Noodles were cooked to order, hard with the right level of al dente. Pork was tender and the egg was flavourful. My companion had the more subtle dish of Shiromaru, still holding its own in the umami department. Such a wonderful dining experience. Quick and friendly service made this a great start to the evening. They will be seeing me again.

Ippudo is LIFE. No other ramen can even compare. It's made my life better & ruined it all at the same time because I live in Texas and can't eat it anytime I want. I always get the spicy vegetarian ramen. Be prepared to have your entire face feel like it's on fire, but also not care because it's so good. Can't recommend this place enough.

Three Words: Veggie. Spicey. Ramen. The ultimate in comfort food, tasty wholesome broth, veggies, fried tofu, hard noodle and spicy miso. The Mrs and I were in deep conversation walking out of embankment station and we both stopped in our tracks when we saw the Ippudo sign up Villiars Street. We've been to the other Ippudos in London but hadn't gone for a long while since they stopped doing the Veggie Ramen we fell in love with the first visit. We rushed to have a look at the menu which was very meaty - a huge disappointment following our initial excitement - but the Mrs popped in and they had a separate menu with two Veggie Ramens! There's a bar for solo diners and a few bigger tables further back of this little Ippudo. The staff were welcoming us as we walked through the door and were exceptionally attentive and friendly. This little Ippudo has a much more relaxed and canteen style that it's other sites in Canary Wharf and Central St Giles. Again I think the menu is a little more limited than it's bigger sites, but it's still a great selection and perfect when you know what you want! I couldn't stop telling the waiter to make sure the menu outside has the veggie options because we were about to walk on by. We ordered two of the Spicy Veggie Ramen with soy milk broth and spicy miso (but there is also one without spicy miso and with mushrooms) and some Japanese pickles. The pickles were fresh and light and a perfect accompaniment to a hot broth. At £13.50 you get a generous bowl of Ramen goodness filled with lush fresh veggies and perfectly cooked noodles. I can honestly say it's soo good I walked around the rest of the evening with a ramen baby belly and a big smile on my face. It's such a welcome addition to that part of town I regularly visit. I'm excited about being a regular but also very scared because it's quite a small space it'll be hard to get in to certian times. Great staff, great food, great location and perfect Veggie Ramen.

We spotted ippudo ramen on the way to the visit all the tourisy spots!!! This is a small shop, kitchen right at the front and seating at the back, bathroom was in the basement. We both order different type of ippudo ramen! Love the Tonkotsu and noodles were done in perfection! Everything is awesome! Portion is small and I could have ordered an extra noodles on the side but I drank up all the soup!!! Ippudo never fails!!!! No matter where you go! I have tried New York City ippudo, Tokyo and Hong Kong and now England!!! They are allll excellent!!!

Fast, easy, and good. Ramen is nice and hearty. Gyoza and fried chicken bites are great starters.

Also they seem pretty Covid conscious with the screens dividing between the tables. I ordered the Menya Ramen which is essentially the regular Tonkatsu Ramen. I really appreciate the fact that this one already had a soft-boiled egg in it which I always think is the best part about ramen, and this one is no different. Wasn't the biggest fan of the chasu pork, but I did appreciate the seaweed as well as the rich broth. I thought the amount the gave was also quite a bit for the price, especially with the amount of noodles they had. Overall, pretty great experience at Menya. Will definitely come back for more!

I had the miso, very flavorful, chasu pork was perfect, just enough fat to be flavorful, very tender. Gyoza we're solid and the kimchee was very good. My son and I traded for a taste and next time I am going for the Menya Ramen, no spice. It was so savory, subtle, I wanted the bowl to be bottomless. Service was as prompt as possible for a Sunday afternoon after the museum. Line went fast. Thank you for the amazing meal.

If you don't pay attention you may walk past one of the BEST ramen experiences one may ever have…read more The restaurant was unassumingly stacked along all the other offering on Old Street. Upon entry, the staff greeted you warmly and were on point to execute a perfectly designed bowl of ramen for your eating pleasure. I honestly felt guilty from the way I enjoyed my ramen given how much my oldest daughter loves the food. I appreciated how open the staff was to making my bowl "extra" spicy and adding yet another egg even though it wasn't specifically on the menu but satisfied my particular desire. What added to the "realness" of the resturant was the steady flow of what seemed to be true ramen experts coming in and navigating the scene, menu, and food at lightning speed with even better eating results. If ramen is your thing, then you NEED to check out this place. Definitely one of the top spots for Ramen I've been to in all my travels. We ordered the abura soba and the spicy tonkotsu in mild spicy with extra egg and menma (bamboo shoots). The aroma from the broth just fills this place with warmth and calls you in for a fantastic meal - broth or broth less. We'll be frequenting this place a lot more after this discovery. Also, they serve their beers in ice cold cups, so order a pint of asahi with your meal!
