I wasn't too fond of the seating arrangements, I thought everyone was to squished together but that all disappeared once the service got started. WOW! This new place is off the charts good...rush don't walk there. It's Peruvian-Japanese "nikkei" cuisine (combination of Japanese immigrants to Peru recreating traditional Japanese with local ingredients). Food, ambience and service are some of the best I've seen in Miami Beach. The food was amazingly good. While slightly pricey, they don't skimp on exotic or expensive ingredients, and it is incredible. Four-course lunch for 2 was $185 with tip. Even the simple salad we started with was fantastic and served with a smile plus architectural garnishes. Next up was a trio of salmon, tuna, and ceviche. It was also terrific and I thought "how can they top this perfect thing?" Well what came next was almost indescribably good. The dish was a combination of choco Peruvian corn and lobster. Sounds like mustard and bananas together right? Well this WORKS big time. Dessert was a merengue topped with strawberries, also scrumptious. Holy Jesus/Buddha/Allah/Dios Mio, this was VERY good food. I'm definitely going back for much more of the same. The space itself is both intimate and gorgeous ("Intimo" is a play on words of the indigenous Inti sun god in Peru, and the Spanish word for intimate). There are touches of gold everywhere, very cool woven art in the front, and even the bathroom was a triumph of high design. Our server was one of the best I've ever had in Miami, and we eat out quite a bit, so it's a large sample. Ask for Samantha, she was absolutely perfect. The whole place was absolutely perfect. From the moment we walked up to the hostess desk til we left the restaurant, we were catered to as if we were the only customers in the restaurant. I stopped in at INTIMO walking by two weeks ago on a Thursday night (had already heard great things so I was excited). Fortunately they had availability as we were 2 but I would recommend making a reservation. Since this initial visit I have been three times in the last 2 weeks. This restaurant is exceptional. Food is in a league of its own. Five stars. I really enjoy the concept of Peruvian / Japanese as it allows them to serve so many different types of dishes. I will be able to try something new for quite some time when I come in. I have yet to have something that wasn't delicious. Service: UNREAL. I moved to Miami 6 months ago and although the restaurant scene is somewhat decent, the service is unbelievably bad City wide. Intimo is the only restaurant I've dined at multiple times where each time I left being thoroughly impressed with the staff. Everyone is a professional at what they do and a joy to speak with. Ambiance: amazing. The restaurant is beautifully done. They also have a violinist who performs hits while dining. A lot of restaurants are terribly loud and you can't have a conversation. I usually hate when people hype, BUT OMG IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. I was in Miami for almost 3 weeks and ate literally every meal. This meal by far was THE BEST MEAL. The food was SO flavorful. Before ordering, I checked out the dishes I was interested in on Yelp, and literally every dish I wanted people were raving about. I was skeptical because I never saw that before, but I'm jumping on the hype train. It really is that good. The TIRADITO DE HAMACHI had SO MUCH flavor. So, as I have said in other reviews I am quite particular about Asian food having spent a lot of time in Asia and being a person of Japanese heritage. This also makes me extremely wary of fusion cuisine - however, I had high hopes since Peruvian food has a lot of Japanese influences and my experience in the past has been that Peruvian - Asian fusion is one combo that can work if done well. Unfortunately, INTI.MO is not it. Of course, like most restaurants in Miami it's a place to be seen and see others, with very little substance. The price are high for no real reason, and the service while very decent, doesn't really know much about Asian cuisine despite their best attempts to pretend like they do. We went with friends who recommended it, both who also are from/or have spent a lot of time in Asia so I was a bit shocked that they liked this place after everything was said and done. My husband ordered fried rice and I had a shrimp and steak udon dish, and we shared a fried gyoza (pot sticker appetizer). The gyoza tasted OK, but it was $22 for four pieces - absolutely outrageous and not worth the price at all. My noodles were OK, the steak bits tasted like they were from decent quality beef, but the dish lacked any distinct flavor, and was a bit watery. My husband liked his fried rice, but honestly you can get better fried rice for a fraction of the price from an authentic Asian restaurant - no need to come to this place. My friends ordered a traditional Peruvian ceviche, which I took a bite of, it was good but nothing unique and honestly probably could be done better somewhere else. Also, most of their "sushi" were just generic American style rolls that they added to which they add truffle oil, sorry but adding truffle oil to everything, no matter how nouveau riche and trendy it is, does not mean you have enhanced or combined flavors. Very tacky. Overall, shockingly disappointing. I would give it one star except the service was very good and the staff were all very nice. If you want a trendy place to see people dressed in nice clothes while they wait for their expensive valet parked cars, then this is your place, but if you're looking for authentic Peruvian food or decent Japanese food, look elsewhere. read more

I loved the intimaki roll, and another one that I can't quite remember. My friends loved their sushi bombs. The scallop and salmon nigiri were tasty. The star of the show and must order though was the short rib parpdelle. It comes with 3 large pieces of short rib, so I recommend sharing it and another dish with someone else or going with a group and sharing dishes. The lychee pisco sour was also incredible. I ordered this: COLA DE BUEY EN VERSIÓN OPTIMA Twelve-hour preparation with potent broth, filled with pisco apple jam, potato puree and truffle cheese, seasonal mushrooms, but I didn't see any mushrooms and the price on 06/08/24 was $46. It was absolutely delicious and if I didn't have these other negative things to say, I'd go back next time I am in Miami but.....The portion was very small. I figured for $46 I'd come away full and satisfied, but I didn't. Everyone felt sorry for me and gave me little bites of their food. Anyone who didn't finish offered me up their food. We had a reservation for 530pm but I could've walked in off the street as it wasn't busy at all, in fact nobody was there! They charge you $7.00 for each check for EVIAN water (so they say) even if you don't ask for it!!!! You have an automatic tip of 18%, but then try to shake you down for a little extra. The service is top notch, the restrooms are sparkling clean and the nicest I've ever seen anywhere in my life, and the good is amazing but too pricey for the quantity you get or didn't ask for. If those things can be changed, I'd certainly go back but with so much competition in SOBE, they should change some of these things for return business. read more

Soooo, update to my review. Everywhere I go when someone asks me about restaurants in Miami, ai always recommend Intimo. The short rib parpadelle is to die for and I crave the Pulpo Moche every time I think of food. Came back for the first time in a while, and to my disappointment, it's off the menu. Now they have the Pulpo Mochica. The waitress says basically the same. I'm sorry to say, NOT the same. Not even close. The previous 10 times I was here, the Moche was Ahhhhhmazing. Tender, flavorful, and 2nd to no other Octopus I'd ever tried. The Mochica... average at best. 3 out of the four pieces were chewy. There was even pieces of gristle?? To Octopii have gristle? Either way, the texture was poor, and the flavor was not as good (slightly different sauce I believe, and sliced was better). Either way, to me that dish is inedible. Service was good, Sushi was good, all in all, probably 4 stars, but a 1 star for my (former) favorite Octopus dish. Oh well, I feel like an idiot if I recommended this place and that dish. Our waitress was amazing and provided great service! We wanted to try a bunch of different things so we decided to start with the INTIMO tower! It essentially had 5 different dishes combined in one. Then we ordered the sushi bombs! My friend thought this was some kind of shooter with alcohol but it was purely food haha! We also tried 2 sushi rolls which were delicious! We didn't want to leave without trying something cooked so we decided to try the Pulpo Grilled Octopus! It was still sizzling on the stone plate when they brought it out. The taste was very interesting, kinda like salsa, but definitely still yummy! For dessert, we wanted to try one of the items but unfortunately they didn't have it that day. This restaurant has such a great potential but during my visit many things were quite disappointing. Let's start with the bar, where I sat. At first, the bartender pretended to know everything about their drinks, turned out it was his first day at that bar. No support from other crew members. He was overwhelmed, forgot drink orders, and didn't know the drinks they serve. Lastly, to top it off, the raspberries that were served with a drink had maggots in them... no thanks! The food was delicious but way too salty. I am not sensitive to salted food and generally prefer salty food over non-salted food. The lamp rack with the heavy cream sauce however was so salty that I had heartburn all night (and I rarely get heartburn). The causa was obviously straight out of the fridge, way too cold, and not much flavor (maybe because it was served too cold). I'm going to start by saying, if you haven't been here yet...book reservations immediately. This is one of the best tasting restaurants I've ever been to. We were told by a friend to check this place out while we were on our trip to Miami. So naturally we set reservations and stalked the menu. We walked in around 830 and it wasn't too busy until About 9pm. The vibe was amazing especially with the violinist! He was phenomenal and really elevated the experience. I'm told he's there everyday playing modern tunes with a flare. Worth going just for that. The drinks were awesome, we had martinis to start that were definitely a bit different from what we are used to but really really good! After that we tried pulpo Moche, and I highlyyyy recommend you try their version of a spicy martini. The pisco fashion was also delicious. After drinks we excitingly put apps in and sushi. We tried all their nigiri, the inti mo sushi bomb, and the gyoza. Let me just say, the gyoza dumplings are out of this world. I'm a big fan of the wagyu dumplings at Nobu, but these duck dumplings are insane. We have been to a lot of prestigious sushi spots and their nigiri here is right up to par with them. The sushi bombs are fantastic as well. All the sushi was bursting with flavor. The chilled lobster dish that is prepared table side is a straight game changer!!!! The sauce, as simply said, is drinkable...it's that good. Each main that we got was similar in seafood, but had a different flavor profile. It was such a pleasant surprise every single time we took a bite. Honestly even with the large amount of food you don't feel super full, everything is relatively light and priced extremely reasonable. I wouldn't be surprised if prices are raised at some point this year. The desert and coffee was just divine. They gave us a shaken espresso with 43 liquor and a table side show/service...AWESOME. I honestly can't say enough about this spot, I'd go as far as saying that this is one of the top restaurants we have been to. It will absolutely be a go to every single time I'm within a hour of Miami. The staff was amazing, the manager was awesome and really personable. He delivered big time last night, props to him!!!! But this was a fantastic place. Our server was fantastic and answered all our many questions and was great helping choose a dish. We had the ceviche Classico, the tuna, avocado roll, pulpo Moche, duck and foie gras nigiri, and they special made some octopus nigiri for my daughter because that is her favorite. Everything was great. The ceviche was super fresh tasting with a bright sauce that wasn't overpowering. I was worried about the duck/foie nigiri because I love each of those but thought the foie would overpower. It didn't and was perfectly balanced. We also had some cocktails that were great as well I had the Cielito Lindo which was cucumber and tequila served in an fancy looking old tea cup (which I accidentally broke) and my wife had watermelon and tequila. Both were great and not too sweet. My wife loved how the walls were decorated with pictures of the owners' family. It was a very cool decor. We loved this place and can't wait to go back! read more

Also reasonably priced! My only complaint is that I'd like to see a little more variety on their maki rolls section. Literally 9 out of 10 rolls start with, "crab, avocado and.....". Came here really excited as this place had really good reviews and the food looked amazing on pics. Made reservations almost two weeks in advanced for a birthday dinner (table for two). It wasn't a huge deal but with a reservation I would of expected maybe a better table to be sat at. We went ahead and ordered the salmon sushi bomb, otoro sashimi and pulpo moche to start out. Our food took over 30 minutes to touch the table and we were told that "the kitchen ran into some issues but that the food would be here soon". After receiving our food we were super excited to try it as the presentation of the plates were beautiful. Pulpo moche was delicious, the salmon sushi bomb was ok, rather underwhelming for what we were hoping and the otoro sashimi wasn't worth it. I love love love Otoro, however this one was a huge let down, the cut wasn't really fatty and in my opinion not worth the $15 per piece. Then we went ahead and ordered the tartar de atún roll, tiradito de hamachi, intimo sushi bomb,sake belly nigiri and conchita parmesana nigiri. The tuna roll was pretty good (I don't usually like rolls with fried shrimp but this was good) and had its own unique taste which I enjoyed. I do wish they had more raw sushi roll options. Tiradito de Hamachi is something I would 100% come back here for. It was one of the few dishes that stood out to us. (So good I forgot to take a pic of it) The intimo sushi bomb was better than the salmon sushi bomb but still underwhelming. The nigiri was also a favorite from what we ordered. Both the sake belly and the conchita parmesana were extremely delicious.
