If you are looking for used bike parts or old bike parts like wheels, stems, tires, handlebars, derailleurs, saddles etc this would be the place to find them. If you are not looking for used or old bike parts, then this is pretty much a waste of time. It would be more accurate to call this a swap meet or bike flea market and not an expo. I haven't been to the Cow Palace since seeing U2's Unforgettable Fire and the Police Ghost in the Machine tours back in the early 80's. The place is really a dump now. I see why there are very few events here if any now. What I saw: The expo had some light vendors but the prices with the show discount were still pretty high - www.barrybeams.com $200 but on sale for $160! I got a great rechargeable light on Amazon for $17. The cost of replacement batteries for this $200 light. My street bike only cost $400 so this light alone would be 50% of my bike? I did see an innovative titanium bike lock that was pretty cool tigrlock.com, but a little too pricy for me at $120-$200. There was an E bike I thought was pretty cool from A2B www.wearea2b.com/us/collection/us-galvani-male at $2300 a much better deal than the Specialized Turbo X at $4000. Good deals can be found on used items or new old stock items like chain rings for $3-$20 for rings that sell for $40-$50 new, but the latest narrow wide rings were full price. The one new item I saw that I wanted to buy was a 42 tooth cog from E13 but the guy said it they weren't selling them! Great. At $60 it was the same price online anyways. Bike shops attended but didn't bring a fleet of bikes or any bikes at all that could be test ridden. They were just trying to move some parts stock that hasn't sold. Individual sellers were there selling anything and everything, but mostly old or used parts. As I saw the used part vendors, I was wondering if they put their items on craigslist or ebay since they could get rid of a lot of their inventory that way. There was DirtRag magazines for free, but the guy seemed reticent to give me a free copy compared to Interbike where they have stacks and stacks of magazines that you are expected to grab and take with you. Size and expectations: You can walk the entire show in 1 hour depending on how much stuff you stop and look at. This is not a local Interbike! This is really a swap meet or bike flea market with hardly any new items. If you're coming from out of town and have been to Interbike, don't expect a food court, walkable areas of cool stuff to do, new stuff you can buy, every vendor you can think of, instead expect a local bike and bike part flea market that you can walk through in an hour. I spent more time driving to and from the expo than attending. I didn't get $15 back in discounts. I won't be going back next year.

Discovered this place on a random whim but it was closed and then their online store was closed until end of November. The day they reopened their online store I purchased caps for gifts. The two favorites are the SF Giants (orange and black) and the Mash Transit with SF map printed on the side. THE ORDER. Delivery was quick! Unfortunately out of the 6 caps, 2 had to be returned and replaced. The caps get printed in Italy and it was not attractive to see San Francisco not fully spelled out or with missing letters. I tried contacting the shop for help but got no response, so I asked to return it. At any other bike shop - and to be clear this place, in appearance and spirit, is arguably more of a bike-lifestyle shop - this would be a straight-forward matter. The unmasked kid working the door initially took the rack back, but then asked if it was missing hardware. I assured him it wasn't, all the original packaging was included. Then he said they couldn't accept it because it was "all chewed up." He pointed to tiny areas where the cheap finish came off as a result of assembly. He then offered me approximately half of what I paid for it just days earlier. This is cheap and disreputable, and for me, doesn't match my experience at any other shop; or any other business for that matter. I half-assembled the rack but it was never used because they didn't supply a bolt long enough to go through my brake hole. So MASH won't stand behind their products. And they won't stand behind their return policy, which states that an item must be in "sellable condition", in new, unused condition in its original packaging. You'd be better off going with any number of local bike shops, where they stand behind what they sell and the people they sell it to.
