Alan is a charming gentleman who runs a single proprietor shop. My impression is that he is fixing bikes because he is passionate about them, and he does not seem to be selling anything else - which I appreciate. He did a tune up on a CO-OP CTY bike given to us by a neighbor who no longer wanted it. My nephew will be riding to school occasionally, and from what I can see Alan did a good job at a reasonable price. read more

Alan is very knowledgeable and gives great, straightforward advice. He helped me find my first road bike at a reasonable price and made the process easy, especially as someone new to road bikes. After purchasing the bike, I ran into an issue and reached out to him. He responded promptly and helped me get everything sorted out. Great customer service before and after the sale. I would definitely recommend Alan Gorman Bikes to anyone looking for a bike or knowledgeable advice. read more

I stopped by Alan Gorman Bicycle for what I thought would be a simple tire replacement, and I walked out genuinely impressed. The owner and staff treated me with respect from the moment I walked in. They replaced both tires and even fixed a couple of small issues without charging me. No upselling, no pressure -- just honest work and fair prices. You can tell they take pride in what they do. This is the kind of local business that deserves support. read more

I'm new to an eBike. I ordered online and it come with a strong vibration when braking. I spent days in troubleshooting but no luck. I decided to find a pro and I found Alan from Yelp. His mechanic found the problem come from a moving front suspension fork. I would not be able to find it without this professional help. He also insist in not charging for the time he troubleshoot with problem for me. It is not easy to find an honest business owner these days. I'm glad I met Alan and his team. I was looking for a decent bike for my teen son. Something that would work for him not just now but in the next couple of years. A friend recommended Alan's shop a while back and we went there and found the perfect used bike for my son (Specialized with disc brakes, good gearing, and great suspension) for a reasonable price. Alan even threw in a kickstand with the bike. Alan knows his bicycles and quickly adjusted various bikes for my son to test out. He was amazingly patient, friendly and helpful. Location note: Alan is a one-man shop in a 1 story building with lots of other little business. Don't let the non-fancy look of the place get in the way of checking it out to see if you can find an excellent used bicycle. read more

I don't normally write reviews on Yelp but I had to for this one. He's so nice!! I'm a beginner, I haven't biked in years and wanted to start again just to get moving and to have a new hobby. I was looking for a used hybrid bike that fit my needs and the one he pulled out ended up being the perfect size and had everything I was looking for! It was also still in amazing condition. He let me try it as well in the parking lot and showed me how to take off the tires and showed me basic things I needed to know about the bike and how to use it. He was very kind, knowledgeable about the bike and very helpful. I plan on going to him for bike repairs as well. Out of all the bike places I went to that day, I went to 4, he was the most helpful one. I have already recommend him to a few people and I'm looking forward to working with him in the future! read more

Alan This gentleman from Ireland runs a phenomenal business. His shop is clean professional and always open even on holidays. He's honest trustworthy and a joy to work with. I've been his customer for nearly 10 years. My College kids need bikes for school and many times they get stolen. Alan always gives me another gently used bike that my college kids can use and not feel bad if they lose but nevertheless, they are high-quality well-maintained and well service because Alan runs a honest and trustworthy business. If I could leave him 10 stars, I would do it. We all need us support well run and family business like Alan's congratulations. Happy new year 2025. read more

Well, the reviews are all accurate. Alan is suspiciously jubilant and friendly, and his shop does A+ work. Alan Gorman is the best mechanic and reseller of bikes on the Peninsula. We have been going to Al for years for all of our family's many bicycle needs. He has let us know many things we didnt know before purchasing bikes and trial/error items on bike parts, sizing for kids etc. He keeps us on the road, everything oiled and functioning smoothly for our rides. Found Alan via a Facebook Marketplace listing and was stunned by his Yelp ratings so decided to drop by and look at used bikes. His 5 star rating is well-deserved. I didn't feel any pressure to buy, didn't feel rushed to make a decision, and he was honest when he thought a bike might not be a good fit for me since I'm petite (rather than just try and push for a quick sale). Alan sounds like he knows his stuff and was overall really pleasant to chat with. I also like knowing that I'm buying used from someone reliable who will stand by the sale if something is wrong with it after I bring it home. :) Excited to take my bike out for a spin sometime soon! read more

Found Alan on Yelp after deciding my kid outgrew his bike but didn't need a brand new one. Alan has a small inventory of used bikes, and we were able to find my kid a great hybrid for only $325. Alan even had a used bike rack in acceptable shape that could fit on my car that he included for $20. Payment via Venmo was quick, and my kid's ride has been smooth since! Highly recommend Alan for bike repair and used bike needs. read more

Took my bike down to Alan's shop on a weekend around 6pm. I had been experiencing skipping on the bike chain when pedaling which got really annoying. One of Alan's mechanics took a look at it and within only a matter of a couple minutes identified what was wrong with it. He fixed it and I took it for a ride and it was much improved. Everyone here at this bike shop is super friendly, knowledgeable and customer focused; which I really appreciate. Would highly recommend Alan for any of your bicycle needs! read more

Alan is friendly and helpful. He has a limited stock of used bikes at a decent price. He is no pressure and very attentive.

Alan does fast , affordable and well done repairs. What else can you ask for? I've used him twice now each time was a breeze.

I feel a bit guilty writing a review in 2024 since I've been bringing my bikes to Alan for a few years now. Alan is so easy to deal with, fantastic in his work quality and the prices are so reasonable that I think he's an asset to the local bike community. Absolute gem of a person and bike mechanic :) Oh! Worth mentioning, if you got an old bike or you got bored of your existing one, he will take yours and sell you another used one (depending on what's yours worth). So you don't have to spend $$$ on a new bike and you can keep rotating your bikes. read more

I came here because my daughter's tricycle has some flat tires and our bicycle pump just can't fit into the spokes of her small wheels. Alan himself was there, fixed the problem immediately AND sent me on my way without a charge despite me trying to offer him something. A real gentleman. The shop is small but well organized and clean. There was no wait. It's one of the only bicycle repair shops in the area. Alan himself was there and helped me and he is a nice guy. I found Alan on Yelp and was able to contact him via his cell phone. The first appointment I've had with him was related to checking out if the used bike I bought was in good shape or if I needed to replace anything. The process was one within a few hours and it was nice that Alan introduced me to the basics of my road bike (I bought this bike on a whim to do a sprint triathlon).
