    Breakline sliced

Brought my bike here for maintenance and repair (Wheel Truing). It was a good price. was offered to change the brakeline or just the brake cable. opted only for the cable not the housing. after everything and picking up. Bike lost brake and made me crash. Motor (EMTB) has grinding noise. Tune didn't last. Brake has a small slice or cut causing to brake to lose oil gradually until gone. This cable dont brake like this and this is the first ride after the service. Brake wasn't bad before the service.

This is very much your typical REI. The once so conveniently close to our hose consolidated with another one in the South bay so we often find ourselves heading to San Carlos. The Sunnyvale one did not the rain jacket we needed but San Carlos to the rescue. This is a smaller sized store but was really well stocked. REI's inventory typically stocks the best adventure and outdoor gear. Much of it is not cheap but they have a legendary return policy so if something does not work out you can return it and try something else. While pricey at times the sales can be legendary so it pays to check things out. REI is all about service. The staff is super friendly and knowledgable about the gear they sell. This one has ample parking

Beware! Beware of deceptive promotional signs! Today I tried to purchase a Northface vest that was 30% off (see the picture below). This vest was directly below this sign AND these vests were all locked up! Meaning employees put these vests directly under this sign. It was not a random accident by a passing customer but it was intentional. After speaking with two managers they would not honor a discount even though this was clearly a store error. Today I did not receive the customer service that REÍ is known for by the managers. Incredibly disappointing and frustrating. This gets a 1 star because of the nice clerk who was patient and actually tried to help me.

Been coming here for the past 8 years and it's been such a mainstay of so much of our active life. I got my first activewear for camping here, the tent we used for our first camping trips together, hiking books, hiking boots that I tried on their fake boulders, Osprey pack, and later, our Osprey Poco child carrier hiking pack. My daughter tried a balance bike for the first time here. While things have changed here to include all the newer players in activewear (e.g. Cotopaxi, Vuori), it's still home to a ton of great memories and still good service. Pros: Spacious site, a lot of floor space and decent amount of parking (the lot is shared with a few other businesses around the corner). Big selection of apparel with some decent discounts, selection includes newer brands along with the typical mainstays of Patagonia, Columbia affiliated brands and REI's own brand. Staff will help you with fitting equipment, such as backpacking gear, boots, etc. They will show you the proper fit for these items which is key since it's not always enough to rely on intuition for how the equipment will behave under long use. Great book and map collection - we've gotten a lot here over the years. Great customer service and return policy if you are a member (totally worth getting the membership and you get rewards). Cons: Clothing selection when on sale typically doesn't work out for me - I rarely find the size I need, but my husband has better luck shopping the sale racks.

How late is curbside pickup service?

    Does rei rent snow clothes?

No, they do not have rentals, but the newly opened Sports Basement in Redwood City does for both snow gear + clothing

How big is it compared to the SF location is it well-stocked?

It's a lot bigger than the SF location. It's on one level, as opposed to the 2-level SF location. The building seems to be in a renovated warehouse. It's very large and each department carries a lot of items. I found it to be well stocked. I prefer… Read more

With a family of five and now traveling with extra sports equipment, cramming everything into our SUV just isn't realistic anymore. We already had crossbars and tower attachments, but weren't sure they were the right fit. We were considering a Thule storage box but didn't know which size would work best, so I brought to them a mix of borrowed parts from friends to test things out before buying. Mike was incredibly helpful from the moment we arrived. He walked us through Yakima vs. Thule components, explained the differences and similarities, priced out multiple options, and made sure we understood exactly what would fit our vehicle. He also let me know that they price match if that was a concern for me. He was patient, thorough, and genuinely invested in helping us get the right setup. After realizing Thule was the better direction, I returned for updated estimates -- and again, Mike delivered exceptional service. The day before our trip, I went back to purchase the Thule towers, and JP provided the same top‑tier experience. He showed me how to assemble everything, made sure the locks were installed correctly, and ensured I felt confident using the equipment. I'm truly grateful for the expertise, honesty, and customer care The Rack Spot provided. If you're considering bike racks, storage boxes, or any vehicle rack system, I highly recommend this shop. Their knowledge and service are unmatched.

Believe all the super favorable reviews, they are all true!! My super favorite trusted bike shop…read morein Los Altos had recommended a very similar well-regarded competitor (based in San Jose) to get a hitch, bike rack, and installation. It turns out my Infiniti QX 50 can only take one hitch and only one bike rack, so options were pretty limited. After getting a solid quote from this competitor for all three (but pricey in aggregate), I called The Rack Spot just as a reality check. Will picked up the phone and I was blown away by his customer service and the shop's pricing! Without knowing who I had already talked to, Will freely offered pretty good discounts on both the rack and hitch as part of their normal pricing policy, but he then gave me some market color on the Curt hitch I was looking to buy. He went a further step by suggesting that I just order the hitch on my own online and coached me through it, since the shop had just gone through a really steep price hike and it would probably be cheaper to get it my own. I also needed it installed quickly for our trip a week from now, and Will helped me manage the logistics to ensure everything would work out well and placed the order right then and there (the other shop only puts their orders in on Mondays, so I would have had to wait 5 days). All in all, I saved $700 by going to these guys ($1900 elsewhere), so I will be referring everyone to The Rack Spot from now on!

The mattress probably came with pinhole so didn't hold air in. Used up a credit so didn't keep the receipt. Always keep the receipts from this store. Andreas, a manager when I called to explain the situation said he could give me a $30 gift card. But when I got there, I waited about 45 minutes and he didn't give me a refund. He gave me a receipt at my request since I didn't want to go to that store again, saying I left both there for customer service to resolve the next day...figured he could mail me a gift card as promised. The Big 5 store where I bought it understood the situation and apologized for the way I was treated because the actual manager, Matt, hung up on me 4 times and each call was the same: he didn't listen to me and told me to call their customer service and then hung up on me. When I was told by Coleman to take a photo of the items so that they could give me the proper customer service...nobody at the store would take a photo of my items for me. But Matt didn't stay on the phone long enough to hear it. I'm now thinking that's because they tossed the items long before my month deadline expired. Coleman took care of me anyway. April 22 I brought the items to this store and Jessica in customer service told me that I had a month to resolve the issue, not necessarily pick it up as non profits have pick up schedules. Several days before the month ended, I found very appropriately, an abuse shelter who would pick up both items once they had a team member to make the 45 minute trip to do so. I notified the store and customer service before the deadline of the plan that a non profit would be picking them up so they had no right to toss my items. I let the store know on Friday 5/29 that someone was on the way from San Jose (within a week of the deadline within which the plan had to be communicated, as Jessica abruptly mandated) and gave the store the heads up. Andreas couldn't find it and after so many lies and being hung up on so many times, and Jessica not listening and talking over me when I tried to correct her with accurate info, I figured that when he said he would look for it and let me know...that I would never hear. So today, my last call with Jessica, the manager of Big 5 customer service, she defended their action to toss my items since there was a pinhole leak (which they knew from the beginning as I told them so and it was sold that way; I think it was a prior return) and reneged on her prior comment that I had to let them know within the month...not picked up within the month. So I got the expected answer from her when I asked her to send a new queen air mattress and pump to this shelter and here's their address. She verbally attacked me. Now off to call the shelter...and let them know the unconscionable ending. Before I end this you should know that I called at least 5 other Big 5 CA stores for the regional/district manager's name and contact information and none would share it...so abusive managers can get away with their behaviors and their bosses never find out. So regional managers Paul Stockdale (No. CA) and Frank Golden (So. CA), make your contact info known if customers ask so that you can get the best store managers and staff who aren't afraid of accountability, truth and good customer service.
