Believe all the super favorable reviews, they are all true!! My super favorite trusted bike shop in Los Altos had recommended a very similar well-regarded competitor (based in San Jose) to get a hitch, bike rack, and installation. It turns out my Infiniti QX 50 can only take one hitch and only one bike rack, so options were pretty limited. After getting a solid quote from this competitor for all three (but pricey in aggregate), I called The Rack Spot just as a reality check. Will picked up the phone and I was blown away by his customer service and the shop's pricing! Without knowing who I had already talked to, Will freely offered pretty good discounts on both the rack and hitch as part of their normal pricing policy, but he then gave me some market color on the Curt hitch I was looking to buy. He went a further step by suggesting that I just order the hitch on my own online and coached me through it, since the shop had just gone through a really steep price hike and it would probably be cheaper to get it my own. I also needed it installed quickly for our trip a week from now, and Will helped me manage the logistics to ensure everything would work out well and placed the order right then and there (the other shop only puts their orders in on Mondays, so I would have had to wait 5 days). All in all, I saved $700 by going to these guys ($1900 elsewhere), so I will be referring everyone to The Rack Spot from now on! read more

After a very scary incident on 280, I went to The Rack Spot first thing the next day. Story goes, our strap bike rack snapped off around Alpine Road. Dragging my bike over 100 ft before we pulled over. I decided no more stupid bike racks, instead I'm going to get a bike hitch. They are much more solid and sturdy. Joe was my guy. He helped me find the perfect bike rack based on my needs. I wanted for it to be light enough for me to pick up. We live up steps, I can't be walking a 55 lb rack up those. Joe pointed me to the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 in Pearl white. It's 40 lb, light enough for me to lug around. Everything was installed the day of. I walked into the shop, and a few hours later, they were done. So efficient and professional. Seriously don't go to U-Haul or try to do it yourself. Pay the money and have a professional do it for you. Moving forward I'm a bike hitch person for life! To make my long story short: I recently bought a new car, and because of its unique design, nothing available on the market was compatible with it. Trust these guys for expert honest advice! Joe spent 8 minutes on the phone with me to help me make the right decision on a trailer hitch receiver. His ultimate recommendation was to keep and install a trailer hitch receiver I that I had ordered already (not from The Rack Spot). You know you're getting honest help when there's nothing in it for him except my total satisfaction as a potential future customer. For those into backstory and details, I'll explain. I ordered a Curt trailer hitch receiver from U-Haul's online store. Curt's website said it was compatible with my nearly 20-year-old crossover SUV. When I tried to install it I found that the cover of a spare tire mounted under the back was in the way, despite installation videos making no mention that it would need to be modified or removed. I called The Rack Spot, and Joe picked up. He assured me that the only other brand option for a receiver had the same dimensions, so my only option was to remove the cover (or cut into it). He heard me say I nearly had it all installed and was good with finishing the job. He didn't push me into coming in to have them do it. Amazing service and great skills. The Rack Spot was able to do the installation of roof rails and the cross bars on my Honda-CRV 2019 within 2 hours. I provided my own parts that I bought from Amazon, but they also have a bunch of racks and rack accessories in-store. Based on my very little Reddit research, the installation price seemed reasonable to me. I came to this store at the recommendation of my mechanic after an aggressive automatic carwash shifted my OEM roof rack crossbars. I had done some research online and while I couldn't find a tutorial I needed I was able to find the tool I needed at least. For my fellow Rav4 owners = its a crossbar torque key. Every video or tutorial I could find was for a different make of vehicle so I didn't know how to proceed and the dealer was no help. My local mechanic suggested I come here and they were SO NICE. I explained my problem, they came outside and took as look, and then quickly grabbed a footstool and showed me how to adjust the crossbars. I tried to follow him back inside to pay for their service, but they shooed me away with a big smile and told me to have a good day. I am now a Rack Spot customer FOR LIFE. They could have been condescending over how easy a fix this was but instead treated me kindly and with respect. They have a big parking lot off-street very friendly staff! read more

They swapped out the stock hitch and made sure everything was done right. What I really appreciated was their attention to detail. They kept my old rack safe in the back of the car and went the extra mile to check that I had all the necessary hardware for safe towing. It's reassuring when a shop thinks ahead about safety like that. The installation was professional and straightforward - exactly what you want when you're getting work done on a Tesla. Very helpful on initial phone call, with order for hitch taken and deposit paid. I was told they call when hitch was received, which would be within a week. Unfortunately, after two weeks and hearing nothing, I called back to learn the hitch was there and that "it was a good thing I called", with no apology.
