I reached out to the company, initially, and by 2pm the same day, they were able to get a hold of me. I felt very accommodated and taken care of sincerely, even though I am not an actual client. They listened to my concerns and got me in touch with the person in the incident, as well as relaying the situation to the supervisor. The employee in the incident, with me, was very apologetic and accountable. In a society where accountability and responsibility seems rare, they took care of me and made sure I was left satisfied, cared for, and I felt reassurance, safe, and most importantly I felt valued. I am grateful for their employee who came forward and was genuinely and sincerely apologetic and I am incredibly appreciative of the secretary and supervisor for their assistance in mediating the situation. I wanted to note that I was not a paying or even potential client. I'm just a normal person who had an incident with one of their employees, and they did more than their part to make sure I was taken care of and leave me feeling worthy and value. If this is how they treat people, then I can imagine that they treat clients with the absolute and utmost respect and care. He was able to brainstorm with us to help us imagine a completely new yard. He gave us ideas that we would either agree or disagree with. Once we had a general idea, Jeff was able to create a digital rendering of both our front and backyard so we were actually able to see his vision and know what we could expect the finished product to look like. For the early stages of the project Angel was the primary foreman of the job. Angel was very friendly and respectful. He would give us updates on what they would be doing for the next couple of days, or if they wouldn't be coming due to weather conditions. As a client this was great because we never had to wonder whether the contractors were coming or not. Our Project consisted of removing existing cement pavers and vegetation. And installation of new turf, irrigation system, and vinyl fence. JBL took care of hauling away all the old materials and bringing all the new materials/plants for our project. Jeff was more than fair to us and he worked with us to make sure we were satisfied with how it turned out. Communication is extremely poor. Responses regularly took up to a week, if I got one at all. This was not a small or inexpensive job -- I was charged $3,769 -- yet the level of professionalism was completely lacking. After the work was done, even the company acknowledged that the job was handled terribly and agreed a refund was appropriate. I was told a refund check had been sent, but no tracking number was ever provided, and I never received anything. At this point, they are now refusing to issue the refund altogether, despite previously admitting fault. What makes this even more concerning is that when looking at their Yelp reviews, one of the few positive reviews appears to be written by the same person I was communicating with directly "Kaili D.". That seriously calls into question the credibility of the reviews on this page. Overall, this company took a large payment, delivered poor service, communicated poorly throughout, and then failed to follow through on a promised refund. I am extremely disappointed and upset with how this was handled and would strongly caution others before hiring them.

I remember the day like yesterday, we got called off work because of dangerous winds, so i went home at about 2pm and found Shade working by himself in my backyard. He cleared HALF of that over grown area BY HIMSELF!!!! In whipping winds that were taking trees down around the neighborhood (literally a tree across the street went down). I was just in awe at how much this one guy was able to do, it completely blew my mind at how hard he worked, you couldnt even walk in there 2 feet, and he levelled it solo!!! Well I think over-all it took him about 3 days, and 2 FULL SIZED rubbish bins to clear that area out. And since then, we have him come bi-weekly to do the yeard and maintain that top area in which he planted gingers, banana, he tends the avacado tree back there, and it just stays beautiful all the time. Shade is a stand up guy, a family man with an amazing huge heart. I know his whole family now, his mom, pop, wife and daughter, brothers, cousins. Not really knowing about the lawn care biz - I felt a need to reach out and get a second opinion on how things are done locally versus where I grew up (east coast - ya did it yourself, or landscaper folks made dang sure things met your satisfaction before they left!)! So I yelped up 'landscaper' here in good ol' Yelp and up popped this wonderful business! So I gave a call. I politely explained how I was disappointed with how things had turned out - and just wanted to have a consult with him. The owner was very happy to come over, assess what was done, and to try to help me out! I guess also I wanted to ensure I'm not just being "that stupid lady"! *you know what I'm talking about* So he comes over - his first impression - the job wasn't done! He definitely encouraged me to straighten that out - and I will! But now to his business: Extremely knowledgable (I mean hello, he's in the business so he better dang well be!) To be honest - I cannot speak on pricing as it can ALL vary depending on what you want done! At a minimum he can charge $80 for lawn service (and I believe that is per visit), all the way up to $300 DEPENDING on what you need/want done. But the fact he took the time of day to help me better understand my lawn issues, and what follow up stuff I need to address with our current lawn maintenance folks (or hubby), THAT makes him stand out in my mind! :) He also even gave me some easy tips for some typical pesky nuisances around here for my fruit trees! Also gave me some cost saving efforts to attack the never ending battle of the weeds - something I really do appreciate. THAT speaks MILLIONS to me of how this guys work ethic is! If things don't necessarily pan out with our current lawn folk - I just might come to this guy!

I'm very disappointed with the behavior of an A&K Landscaping employee during their recent…read moremaintenance work at a neighboring apartment building. On Tuesday, September 23rd, an A&K employee trimmed a large portion of an avocado tree on my property that overhangs into the apartment's yard. While I completely understand and have no issue with trimming branches that extend beyond the shared fence line, what happened afterward was unacceptable. The employee dumped all of the tree trimmings--equivalent to a full pickup truck load--onto my side of the fence without asking or informing me. When I approached him to ask if he was planning to clean up the mess, his response was dismissive and unprofessional. He said something like, "No, it's your tree and it's making a lot of leaves to clean up," as if that justified dumping a huge amount of debris onto my property. I had to explain to him that you can't cut down someone else's tree and then leave the mess behind for the property owner to deal with. Only after I moved the debris back on their side and a lot of back and forth did he finally decide to take the trimmings and haul them away on their truck. To make matters worse, I immediately left a voicemail and sent a text to the company's owner, Alika Peterson, asking for a call back to discuss the situation. I called again later the same day and followed up the next day as well. As of now, I have not received any response from Mr. Peterson, which only adds to the frustration and unprofessionalism of this experience. I was appalled by this blatant lack of respect for my property and their apparent attempt to get away with it simply because they thought no one was home at 9 a.m. If the tree had been a genuine nuisance, I would have been more than willing to work with the property owner to resolve it. However, it is not the decision of an A&K employee to make, nor is it acceptable for them to dispose of debris in this manner. I hope A&K Landscaping reconsiders how they train their employees on handling these kinds of situations and improves their responsiveness to customer concerns.

They took my initial ideas and enhanced them with the lava rock path, back bed and even placed my huge blue pot in the right spot to highlight aesthetic purpose and balance the area. The attention to detail was second to none as I watched them move lava rocks an inch this way or swap them out to ensure the visual flow as well as functional path were right. I don't think I've smiled so much in the past 24 hours watching them do the work and now enjoying the result.
