It's now been a couple weeks since our home painting job was completed. I wanted to wait a bit before I wrote a review so if anything of interest developed it could be included. In answer to that nothing did, we are very satisfied with the job Emerald Painting (EP) performed for us. Finding a painting company you can trust and feel confident the end product will be as good as you hope can be difficult. Our initial contact with EP was through Jonathan where he explained the process, answered all our questions, and then developed a quote. I was very comfortable with him and once we decided to go with EP, over a couple other companies, his responsiveness was outstanding. Once the painting started their focus on quality workmanship was excellent. We had a crew of basically 4 man (Guy, LJohn, Neal, & Derrick). I won't discuss their specific roles but each was professional, dedicated, and friendly. Over the three weeks it took (preparation & painting) it was easy to see their skills and desire to deliver a quality end result. As with any business nothing of quality is done without a topnotch office manager and Ellen is just that, in her own way she made our job happen. If you're looking to get your home painted I can confidently recommend Emerald Painting - Hawaii. Our job was exterior but I'm sure they're just as skilled and focused on the interior of a home as well. Thank You! read more

Casey and his team did an amazing job painting our building and parking lot! They were extremely well organized, communicated clearly and consistently, and delivered exactly what they promised. Their proposal was fair, deadlines were met, and they kept the work area clean and orderly throughout the project. The entire crew was professional from start to finish. If there were a 6-star rating, they would absolutely earn it. Mahalo, Emerald Painting! read more

They did not keep promise for add on painting at an hourly rate...charged many times the amount expected. Recommend you do not add on work. Some interior prep was missing so paint on oil with latex is peeling off. read more

Recently used them to paint the inside and outside of my dad's house. Jonathan, the owner, was always quick to communicate and gave a detailed proposal making it clear exactly what we had agreed upon. Guy and his team came out on time every day, cleaned up after themselves, and were always respectful and trustworthy. Their workmanship was detailed and thorough. My dad has steel siding. They grinded down the rust, repaired the areas that would too far gone, and took the time to do it right. It looks amazing! The inside is redwood and is quite a job to prime and paint. They took the time to do it right and finish all the detail work at the end. They even took the time to place the large furnishings back exactly where they were. If you are looking for a contractor that you can trust in and around your home, that is honest, and has attention to detail...Emerald Painters is it! read more

Johns so cool. Best painter and hard worker! Very professional, and humble. He is proud of the work he does and the experience he has. He's a family man & shares that in his business values. Highly recommend. All around good person! You won't regret it. read more

I hardly ever write reviews, let alone a bad review, but I feel that we should share our experience. Our house was built in 2021 and Emerald Painting was a subcontractor of our general contractor. Initially, they did a great job with painting both the exterior and interior of our house. They left us the remainder of the paint in case we needed to use it again later--all except for the ceiling paint. In 2023, we noticed that the drywall on our bedroom ceiling cracked and after our contractor patched up the crack, we needed to paint over the patched up area. Since we weren't given the ceiling paint, our contractor contacted Emerald Painting. Emerald Painting said that the paint they used on our ceilings was Sherwin Williams PRO-MAR 200 Extra White Flat (base with no tint). We went to Sherwin Williams and purchased a gallon of PRO-MAR 200 Extra White Flat (base with no tint). It cost us $90 for a gallon (and a gallon was the smallest size we could purchase). But after using that paint on our ceiling, we quickly realized it was the wrong shade of white compared to the original color. Our contractor went back to Emerald Painting and after further research, Emerald Painting stated that they actually used PPG ULTRA-HIDE 150-FLAT/EXTRA WHITE (NO TINT) and that it could be purchased from Home Depot or a PPG paint store. We looked at Home Depot and couldn't find the paint. We then emailed PPG and they responded to us saying that the product had been discontinued for over 6 years with no direct replacement. We were pretty surprised. Why would Emerald Painting use a paint that was discontinued over 6 years ago? Our house was not even built then. Emerald Painting said it was Painters Warehouse that sold them this product and if it was really discontinued 6 years ago, they were not informed of this information. We really needed to have our bedroom ceiling painted over, so that we wouldn't have different shades of white on the ceiling. At the same time, we also wanted to repaint our bedroom walls. We asked Emerald Painting for a quote, and it was our hope that they would at the very least offer us a discount to repaint the ceiling, but they gave us an estimate that was more than twice the amount of what another painting company quoted us. It was really sad that it seemed like it was money and not quality of service that was in their best interest. It was disappointing. And now, every time we need to paint a small part of our ceiling, we won't have the correct paint color (since our color was discontinued over 6 years ago) and therefore, will need to pay a painting company to repaint the entire ceiling for it to look the same. I am not surprised that our contractor no longer uses their services. I sure wish our house was painted by our contractor's current painting company--they are awesome. read more

We would definitely reccomend Jonathan and the team at Emerald Painting! Our experience has been nothing but smooth and professional. We chose Emerald for our windows and exterior home painting. They did an excellent job! We were very impressed with the attention to detail, especially on the window installation in such an old home. They even repainted all the window frames! We also appreciated their communication and keeping the project on time. Overall great experience, our home looks great! read more

As a follow-on to my previous 5-star review, I want to add another positive note about Emerald Painting. After the project was completed and paid for, I discovered that one of the doors which the crew had replaced was too tight to open without difficulty. I have encountered other companies that become uncooperative once payment has been received, but that was not the case with Emerald Painting. The company's response was to promptly return and fix the problem. They take pride in their work, and it shows with the quality of their product. I extend my thanks to Juan and Todd for the additional support as well as the company as a whole for representing the best in customer service. read more

Jonathan Sanchez from the start to end of the project was absolutely professional and highly motivated to ensure that I was satisfied throughout the project !! I was super impressed with the prep work of prepping the house and quality of doing things well without rushing The crew was a father and son team - Guy and Keane... very nice and easy to talk to. I'm hoping they are available for my next project Thank you Emerald Painting !!! My house looks so nice and new! I did have a smaller job that Jonathan promised to come back to do - however he never did follow up with me Sheri Teves read more

Emerald Painting just completed a large exterior project for us, which included extensive repairs and painting to our home and property. We were truly impressed with their kindness, professionalism, and especially their attention to detail. I called them on the strength of a NextDoor review that mentioned they were very detail-oriented with respect to the prep work that needs to be done prior to painting/finishing, and this was a top priority for me. We were not disappointed--they carefully power-washed, primed, and repaired every surface before painting. In several cases they corrected problems we had struggled with for years that had been left behind by the contractors that built our home. And the final result was flawless. Jonathan Sanchez, the owner, treats his employees like family, and his employees in turn treat the customers like family. We will definitely call them again next time we need interior painting work. read more

My husband and I were very impressed with Jonathan and his crew. The painting crew was quiet respectful and cleaned up every day. Jonathan came by to supervise on a regular basis. We needed minor repair work on part of the house and Jonathan was able to coordinate the repairs. read more

After securing three estimates from competitors, I choose Emerald Painting, a locally owned and operated company, for my interior paint and carpentry job. Jonathan handled things professionally from the beginning to end. Experienced excellent communications with the crew (Dillon, Todd and Juan) which were on time, executed the plan and cared about getting the job done right! I highly recommend this company, very easy to work with and committed to customer satisfaction. read more

I wish there were 10 stars as Jonathan Sanchez and his crew from Emerald Painting are excellent. This year we decided to finally paint our house. Our house is a little over 24 years and the exterior started to show its age. After getting several estimates on the work that we needed done along with the house being painted, Jonathan provided the best estimate. While the other companies estimate on just the painting were comparable, Jonathan's estimate included other work we wanted within our budget. Jon was very easy to communicate with throughout the entire process from start to end. Without being pushy, he inquired after coming out to look at our house so he could give an estimate. He came out personally before the job started to explain what would be done and when his crew would start. He came out again to show me the paint choices for the house. Before the job was completed, he came out once again to personally check the work his crew had done. A two man crew completed the majority of the project while a third crew member came to assist when needed. Guy, Cuzz, and Adam were the best crew you could ask for. They were thorough in everything they did. Cuzz and Adam came early every morning like clockwork, took a short lunch and went right back to work. Before leaving they would clean up any area they worked on nicely and put away their equipment in one area. They were always pleasant and respectful which says a lot about a company. Their office manager Ellen was also great. She would always send any documents so I would have a copy for my files and was always prompt in replying. If you need your home painted this is most definitely the company you should hire! You won't be sorry. I highly recommend Emerald Painting. read more

John and his crew were exceptional on our project. Our two buildings (condo) exterior paint job needs has detailed wood that needed sanding and staining. It was a big job. They did it with care, aloha and fine detail. It was also a competitive price to others. The foreman, Guy, was like Picasso, making sure all the details were done properly and all looked beautiful upon completion. The whole crew was professional and kind. I am so happy to have had this family run business do this big job. We're fans for life and will share our recommendations of them often! read more

We have used Emerald Painting for a few jobs now and they do incredible work. Highly recommend Jon and his team.

Jonathan and his team deliver 5 star service in quality and customer service. Not only do they do great work, but I think what sets them a part from others is that their communication is fantastic. Jonathan is always so good about updating you on the timeline or anything else related to the job. He's quick to respond to phone calls or texts. His crew left the job site cleaned up every day and they were so good about working around our crazy dogs. We would recommend them to anyone without hesitation. And would use them again for future painting needs. read more

Emerald Painting sets an example for the rest of the painting companies. Starting with same day or next day call back from initial contact to the finishing of the job. They where able to get me on the calendar within a reasonable time and they started the job right on schedule and the second one within a couple of days due to weather conditions. They use Sherman Williams Paint which is a top brand of paint. Jonathan and all of his crew are great to work with, friendly, polite, and do high quality work. Communications is top of there list and you will always be updated to any changes taking place on the job. We are 100% satisfied with the completed projects and highly recommend Emerald Painting. read more

Let me first start by saying that we had a terrible experience with our previous painting contractor. This particular contractor's work was sloppy and there were major imperfections everywhere. We finally got fed up and looked around for another contractor. Emerald Painting came highly recommended by a local paint supplier. Working with Jon was like breathing fresh air after being underground for so long. Jon is professional and takes pride in quality work. He makes sure his guys also take pride in their work as well. Jon was quick to respond with a price quote/proposal. The project was scheduled right away to meet my tight timeframe I was working with even though that meant he had to work weekends (one of which was a holiday weekend). I am looking to paint the exterior of the house soon. I will definitely be contacting Jon at Emerald Painting again. read more

I had the exterior of my 2-story house in upper Makakilo painted. From the initial contact with Jonathan I experienced professional & courteous service throughout. The rainy season caused some trouble with the schedule, but he kept me updated and in the end was able to start earlier than predicted. The crew was very thorough with all the prep work, and took care to clean the area after each day's work. They were also friendly and polite in each interaction. The results are amazing: the house looks like brand new! I highly recommend Emerald Painting. read more

Jonathan at Emerald Panting is phenomenal. He was very personable and easy to talk to about the painting I wanted. He not only discussed what I wanted, but made some suggestions that I did not see as an untrained painter. I hired him to paint my office which he did quickly and professionally. My office looks great and will surely impress clients. I highly recommend his services. read more

This is my first time doing a review, but I felt compelled to write one after the amazing job Jonathan and his Emerald Painting crew did on the exterior of our house, and outdoor lanai floor. We researched many companies on island and could not be happier with our selection. The amount of prep time was impressive. The attention to detail and quality of overall work was second to none. The team works very well together, and Jonathan is always available, a true professional. I most highly recommend Emerald Painting to anyone who wants a top-notch paint job on their house. read more

Jonathan and his team were an absolute pleasure to work with! We received 3 bids in all before moving forward with Emerald Painting. The other 2 companies came and went within an 30 minutes and just did perimeter walks and asked very little to no questions. One we never heard back from and the other came in outrageously high. Jonathan spent somewhere close to 2 hours walking the house with me showing me some of the current issues I had with rusting nails, cracks in our stucco, and how our over grown mango tree was causing mold issues on one side of our house. He offered solutions for all the problems and walked me through how his team would perform the work and the products that they would use. His pricing was fair and a lot closer to what I expected a painting estimate to be. Jonathan gave us a 5 day work window which he honored by completing the job on the 5th day. I would highly recommend Emerald Painting and Jonathan for any painting project you are thinking about doing. He made us feel comfortable through the entire process and now our home built in the 1940's looks brand new. Mahalo Jonathan and Emerald Painting!!!! read more
