It's now been a couple weeks since our home painting job was completed. I wanted to wait a bit before I wrote a review so if anything of interest developed it could be included. In answer to that nothing did, we are very satisfied with the job Emerald Painting (EP) performed for us. Finding a painting company you can trust and feel confident the end product will be as good as you hope can be difficult. Our initial contact with EP was through Jonathan where he explained the process, answered all our questions, and then developed a quote. I was very comfortable with him and once we decided to go with EP, over a couple other companies, his responsiveness was outstanding. Once the painting started their focus on quality workmanship was excellent. We had a crew of basically 4 man (Guy, LJohn, Neal, & Derrick). I won't discuss their specific roles but each was professional, dedicated, and friendly. Over the three weeks it took (preparation & painting) it was easy to see their skills and desire to deliver a quality end result. As with any business nothing of quality is done without a topnotch office manager and Ellen is just that, in her own way she made our job happen. Recently used them to paint the inside and outside of my dad's house. Jonathan, the owner, was always quick to communicate and gave a detailed proposal making it clear exactly what we had agreed upon. Guy and his team came out on time every day, cleaned up after themselves, and were always respectful and trustworthy. Their workmanship was detailed and thorough. My dad has steel siding. They grinded down the rust, repaired the areas that would too far gone, and took the time to do it right. It looks amazing! The inside is redwood and is quite a job to prime and paint. They took the time to do it right and finish all the detail work at the end. They even took the time to place the large furnishings back exactly where they were. I hardly ever write reviews, let alone a bad review, but I feel that we should share our experience. Our house was built in 2021 and Emerald Painting was a subcontractor of our general contractor. Initially, they did a great job with painting both the exterior and interior of our house. They left us the remainder of the paint in case we needed to use it again later--all except for the ceiling paint. In 2023, we noticed that the drywall on our bedroom ceiling cracked and after our contractor patched up the crack, we needed to paint over the patched up area. Since we weren't given the ceiling paint, our contractor contacted Emerald Painting. Emerald Painting said that the paint they used on our ceilings was Sherwin Williams PRO-MAR 200 Extra White Flat (base with no tint). We went to Sherwin Williams and purchased a gallon of PRO-MAR 200 Extra White Flat (base with no tint). It cost us $90 for a gallon (and a gallon was the smallest size we could purchase). But after using that paint on our ceiling, we quickly realized it was the wrong shade of white compared to the original color. Our contractor went back to Emerald Painting and after further research, Emerald Painting stated that they actually used PPG ULTRA-HIDE 150-FLAT/EXTRA WHITE (NO TINT) and that it could be purchased from Home Depot or a PPG paint store. We looked at Home Depot and couldn't find the paint. We then emailed PPG and they responded to us saying that the product had been discontinued for over 6 years with no direct replacement. We were pretty surprised. Why would Emerald Painting use a paint that was discontinued over 6 years ago? Our house was not even built then. Emerald Painting said it was Painters Warehouse that sold them this product and if it was really discontinued 6 years ago, they were not informed of this information. We really needed to have our bedroom ceiling painted over, so that we wouldn't have different shades of white on the ceiling. At the same time, we also wanted to repaint our bedroom walls. We asked Emerald Painting for a quote, and it was our hope that they would at the very least offer us a discount to repaint the ceiling, but they gave us an estimate that was more than twice the amount of what another painting company quoted us. It was really sad that it seemed like it was money and not quality of service that was in their best interest. It was disappointing. And now, every time we need to paint a small part of our ceiling, we won't have the correct paint color (since our color was discontinued over 6 years ago) and therefore, will need to pay a painting company to repaint the entire ceiling for it to look the same. I am not surprised that our contractor no longer uses their services. I sure wish our house was painted by our contractor's current painting company--they are awesome. read more

After the project was completed and paid for, I discovered that one of the doors which the crew had replaced was too tight to open without difficulty. I have encountered other companies that become uncooperative once payment has been received, but that was not the case with Emerald Painting. Our house is a little over 24 years and the exterior started to show its age. After getting several estimates on the work that we needed done along with the house being painted, Jonathan provided the best estimate. While the other companies estimate on just the painting were comparable, Jonathan's estimate included other work we wanted within our budget. Jon was very easy to communicate with throughout the entire process from start to end. Without being pushy, he inquired after coming out to look at our house so he could give an estimate. He came out personally before the job started to explain what would be done and when his crew would start. He came out again to show me the paint choices for the house. Before the job was completed, he came out once again to personally check the work his crew had done. A two man crew completed the majority of the project while a third crew member came to assist when needed. Guy, Cuzz, and Adam were the best crew you could ask for. They were thorough in everything they did. Cuzz and Adam came early every morning like clockwork, took a short lunch and went right back to work. Before leaving they would clean up any area they worked on nicely and put away their equipment in one area. They were always pleasant and respectful which says a lot about a company. Their office manager Ellen was also great. She would always send any documents so I would have a copy for my files and was always prompt in replying. Jonathan and his team were an absolute pleasure to work with! We received 3 bids in all before moving forward with Emerald Painting. The other 2 companies came and went within an 30 minutes and just did perimeter walks and asked very little to no questions. One we never heard back from and the other came in outrageously high. Jonathan spent somewhere close to 2 hours walking the house with me showing me some of the current issues I had with rusting nails, cracks in our stucco, and how our over grown mango tree was causing mold issues on one side of our house. He offered solutions for all the problems and walked me through how his team would perform the work and the products that they would use.
