Eric and Scott (IE Painting) know what they are doing and do an excellent job. They painted our 5,000 SF east Oahu stucco home in 7 days including pressure washing and 3 coats (primer and 2 topcoats). They scheduled us months earlier (because when you are good, people will wait for you), and they started on the exact day they promised. They showed up every morning at 7 and brought everything they needed, including their own scaffolding. It is not easy work, but they are machines. On the last day it was incredibly windy / gusty, but they managed to finish the project even though much of it was from scaffolding and on the windy side of the house. They removed hose reels, masked light fixtures and windows, shielded landscaping, painted our gutters and downspouts, and cleaned up at the end of the day. You will not find easier-going, nicer guys. That's probably why you will also not find anybody else that does what they do for as long as they've done it with ALL 5 Star reviews. Eric at IE painting is so nice. The day we started the painting I forgot to ask him to paint the back stair care and the front door and he was so understanding to add it to the job. Mostly I appreciate how pleasant and understanding he was to me. Third time's the charm! Hurray, we got our house painted! Our first attempt to paint our house ended up with our neighbors calling the police - because the painters got into a fight in our yard! On our second attempt, we booked a painter who told us what paint to buy from Sherwin Williams. Got the Sherwin Williams Duration paint - about $950 worth - scheduled the job, and waited, and waited for the painter who never showed! Fast forward, years later when we decide to try again. Checked YELP to find the top painters and got the top five to come and give us quotes that ranged from $3,000 to $19,000 for our two-story house. After meeting everyone and receiving the quotes, we selected IE Painters. From the get-go, Eric had a positive attitude, was prompt in following up, was a good communicator, and transparent in giving us updates as we went along. Included: pressure washing, light sanding, spot primer for all prepped areas, caulking of windows and frames, two coats of paint either by spraying or hand painting, and daily clean up. Work was done Monday through Friday and on the weekend, he would remove the plastic sheeting from the windows and take down any scaffolding if it blocked the access to the house. Pros: Eric and Scotty started promptly at 7 am - 3 pm, cleaned up after themselves every day, never played loud music that would disturb the neighbors, didn't smoke, and spoke professionally and courteously at all times! (No swearing!) They patched holes, gave suggestions on color, and let us know a month ahead of time when they would get to our job. He has all of the ladders, scaffolding, drop cloths, and equipment needed. Big plus was that he said the Sherwin Williams paint was still good - it is a quality paint that was kept in a cool place and sealed, and so was still good! That helped to save us some money. Also when Tropical storm Linda was approaching, Eric came on his off day and removed all scaffolding and equipment and secured it so it wouldn't cause any damage. Cons: long wait time as they are so popular! He did tell us in advance and before giving us a quote that he was booked solid for roughly 6 months, but we agreed to meet, as he was transparent in that he couldn't get to our job until he fulfilled his jobs for others. We put our $500 deposit down in February and got the house painted in August. Cost was $5200 and he used our existing paint! This was a huge plus as some of the other painters wanted to pick up the paint on their own, and probably charge us a mark up. Eric was up-and-up about using it and was happy to help us stay on target. Our house is on a hill, is quite high, and is on ground that isn't level. It took 5 working days, including dealing with the remnants of the storm when they couldn't work. We highly recommend IE Painters and are very happy with how our house turned out! I received a letter from our HOA requesting us to paint our gate and the front area around the garage door. They were giving me three weeks to have this completed. SUPERB VALUE FOR THE $. We had Eric and Scotty repaint the exterior of our house and finish an exterior ceiling. We are extremely pleased with the results on both. These guys are in high demand so you may have to wait a month or two, but they are worth it. They are PROMPT (every morning they were here ready to start at precisely 7:00am), quick, and polite. I certainly recommend them! We got quotes from several different companies and decided to go with IE Painting. For reference, our house is approximately 2000' sq feet and was finished in 1953 - it has quirks and LAYERS of paint. Our first couple quotes were WELL OVER $10k, not including paint and supplies. We weren't looking for the Sistine Chapel. Paint new tan on existing and dark blue over a dark brown. Paint the inside ceiling flat white. Plus, since it is pre-1070s and likely covered in lead based paint, you can't sand so imperfections are going to stay imperfect. My parents on the mainland had their 3000 sq ft house painted for $5k so I was in sticker shock. Eric was awesome in the bid process and was VERY competitive on price. When I went to pick our colors, the sales person at the paint store - rhymes with Erwin Shilyams - was pushing an upgraded paint. I asked Eric if the higher $ paint was worth the money and instead of pushing an up-charge, he told me to stick with the cheaper paint because it would last as well if not longer in our environment - we are close to the water. Eric and Scotty power washed the entire house, scraped loose paint, caulked, sprayed a rust inhibitor and spray painted the majority of the house to ensure a smooth finish. He even had Scotty hand paint around my newly built hardwood deck - just to ensure the new varnish didn't get covered in paint overspray. We are definitely glad we waited for IE Painting. read more
