My son has finished and cannot stop talking. He no longer feels frustrated about speaking, we are able to understand him and carry on conversations now that we were not able to before. Jamie and all the staff at Coastal Speech Therapy were wonderful and I cannot thank them enough. They were genuinely interested and concerned for my son and made him feel comfortable and happy. We've had the opportunity to work with several wonderful therapists, and we're grateful for all of them. I'd also like to mention his speech therapists, Ms. Dana and Ms. Jena, and Mr. Joseph (OT therapist) to who have been such an important part of his progress. They've taken the time to get to know my son, incorporate his interests into each session, and keep him engaged and motivated to learn. They also do a great job keeping us involved by sharing his progress after each session and giving us ideas for what we can continue working on at home. Watching my son grow in his communication skills has been incredibly rewarding. We know that progress didn't happen overnight, and we're so grateful for the patience, encouragement, and dedication his therapists have shown him. From the moment he started with SBT, he made tremendous progress in developing his communication and language skills, as well as managing his behavior. What stands out most is how deeply the BTs and supervisors genuinely care about their clients. They treated my son with the same level of patience, warmth, and dedication as if he were their own child. They went above and beyond by giving him toys and gifts that made him feel special, and they wrote personalized, fun social stories tailored just for him. They also came up with creative ways to keep him engaged and teach him how to work as part of a team. They knew exactly how to balance gentle encouragement and authentic affection with firm, consistent boundaries to help him thrive. The clinical direction and leadership were exceptional throughout our entire journey. Whenever we had questions or concerns, the supervisors were quick to follow up, listen attentively, and proactively adjust his goals to keep everything moving in the right direction without missing a beat. A very special shout-out to his incredible team: Kim, Alexyss, Karly, Kayley, Nathan, Joycelyn, and Stephanie. Each one of them brought so much vibrant energy, passion, and enthusiasm into my son's daily routine, literally bringing color into his life. They were the ones on the ground making the absolute biggest impact on his growth and development, and we will forever be grateful to all of them for the foundation they helped build for his future!

He came in with a speech delay and no real social connection to anyone other than immediate relatives, but he's come to love it there. He actually gets excited to go and see his teachers and has memorized all the songs they sing to him. He even transitions from one activity to the next without major meltdowns as he used to. We previously tried a different speech and learning center and my son would dread going. He would have outbursts in the waiting room and not want to participate (even though the staff there seemed just as nice). But there's something about Apple Tree's structure, environment, and teaching methods that really resonate with him. They even have a parent coach and send out newsletters with helpful information that makes navigating a child with delays seem a little less daunting. Plus being able to be in the classroom with him to see him interacting and learning new techniques to manage stressful situations has helped all of us. On top of all that, we started this going to Apple Tree in the middle of COVID, and yet the precautions they take make me comfortable enough to send my 2yo there. All the teachers and therapists there seem to really enjoy what they do and it shows in the improvements my son has made.

There are many well-known evaluators out there, and I spoke with several before deciding. I ultimately chose Leslie because of her extensive experience as a school-based OT. That background mattered to me. I wanted someone who truly understands how schools function day to day, how reports are written and carried out, and how OT needs actually play out in the classroom, not just in a clinic. From the beginning, Leslie was thoughtful, responsive, and very easy to work with. She took the time to understand my child as a whole, and during the evaluation she connected with my child in a way that felt natural and respectful. As a parent, I felt like she was picking up on things I've been trying to explain for years. Her report was excellent. It was clear, thorough, and extremely well-written. The recommendations were specific, practical, and directly tied to functional needs at school. Nothing felt generic. It was obvious that her school OT experience shaped both her observations and her recommendations. What I appreciated most was how collaborative she is with school teams. Leslie understands the importance of working with schools rather than against them. Her approach felt balanced and realistic, which makes a huge difference when you are trying to move things forward in an IEP setting. I am very grateful I chose Leslie and would highly recommend her to any parent looking for an OT IEE from someone who truly understands children, schools, and families.
